There is a weak signal of about 15 dBuV here now at 1230 UTC. So far the MSC has been constantly red. A peculiar configuration with 8.08 kbps aac and Protection 3/0. And that with 16/64 !

A half hour of nothing:

My log showed 3 little green blips within the first 30 minutes.

With all of these digital tests and plans for this year, 2014 is looking increasingly like the year of DRM.

Looking back at my logs, 2003 was the year of DRM ;-)

It is good to actually have a broadcaster sending DRM to Aus/NZ in 2014 though. Now, if they can just get their transmission parameters sorted out I might be able to listen.....

Cheers, Chris

The broadcasters were there, but the mature technology (xHE-AAC) and listeners weren't evidently. Personally, I'd like to see a comparative survey of people knowing about DRM around 2004 and those people knowing about DRM today (2014). Honestly, I don't expect much difference so the DRM Consortium has likely failed in the aspect of publicity. Although some major broadcasters have reduced their presence on shortwave and closed facilities, 2014 is looking to be different in a number of ways, the xHE-AAC codec and disillusionment with the InterNet (spying, etc). Personally, I can't wait to stop paying for access to buffering servers which then ban the IP address of my proxy servers. I'm too cheap anyway. We'll see as 2014 progresses.

I should have been clearer, though.

I agree totally with need for more intelligent transmission parameters.

Your logs are very interesting as they generally tell a story of poor configuration and too little power. It's amazing to look at the number of incomplete broadcasts due to inadequate selection of frequencies for the season of the targeted area and adjacent frequencies, inappropriate bit-rates for type of content, and common usage of 64 QAM for the MSC. RNW had the right idea, but even their configuration suffered unnecessarily. RNW's broadcast from Bonaire improved toward October (southern spring) on 15400 kHz... I loved the comment about Marconi on the Nov. 16, 2003 broadcast from RNW on 15255 kHz ... Great stuff, Chris!

AIR Bangalore, India, 15795 kHz reception near Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Wrong frequency thread, moving this to new AIR Test 15795 kHz thread.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning's reception - no audio decoded, 4.87 dB max SNR.

I was not present to grab the screen ID.

This transmission, aimed supposedly at Australia & New Zealand, continues to remain reliably undecodable here in New Zealand

I wish the folks at Bangalore would try using the same DRM parameters as Khampur.

Cheers, Chris

Same hopeless configuration on this frequency. Bitrate is 8 kbps and the Protection level is 3/0. Mode A.
Certainly a test for nobody to receive. It is not even worth wasting hard disk space for this kind of rubbish!

PS: 10 seconds of audio at 1252 UTC when the SNR suddenly rose to 18 dB, but that was it.

Wow, they manged to flip another button: Today it was Mode B, but still 8 kbps, P3/0 and 16/64. Which means - no improvement.

The Label now says "SPT Bangalore".
