All India Radio on 11645 kHz to NE Asia
I am not in NE Asia, but here is an automatic log from last night (17th December 2011). The log spans from 2245 until 0045, but the segment shown here is 2325 - 2355 UTC when there were some traces of signal. The SNR peaked at 5.33 dB and no audio whatsoever (of course).
Another candidate for Japan in January? |

Better reception last night. Seems to be a different service (?) as the music played was a different format than that on 9.950 MHz. At 2300 the language spoken was English. There is no Azimuth in the DRM Schedule and the target is "Asia" according to the list. The log was unattended after 2315, therefore I have no explanation to the sudden bad reception after 2330.

Not good at all, even that I am in the target (?) area.

Some signal into Japan this morning. The label was NEPALI SERVICE today. Max. SNR was 9.7 dB and no audio decoded. At the moment (0015 UTC) there is an audible signal on the frequency, but it won't even produce a label.

As per my observation has been that if we reduce the sound card input level at line in or mic IN, the SNR improved. in case you use 12KHz recovered from a rig, perhaps the additional gain of mic can be reduced and the mic can be managed under manual gain mode and volume optimized.

O/T (Off Topic)
Dear Sarma, The problem is that the signal is too weak. I have two attenuators, one for the 450 kHz input, 0, 6, 16, 26, 36 46 dB and a 10 kOhm potentiometer at the 12 kHz output. Other problems here in Japan are lots of man-made noise, chirps, hum and rubbish, especially in the 9 MHz region. Plasma TV sets and inverters in air-conditioners and ceiling lamps add to the noise level. And, I have 100VAC without an earth line. |

The signal is too weak in Japan and the bitrate is too high.

A rather weak, stable and useless signal due to the too high bitrate.

The DRM TX configuration is perfect for zero reception. Why is there no-one at AIR who could try setting the DRM modulator to a more suitable configuration?!

Today the decoded audio exceeded 0%. A lower bitrate would have helped a lot. So, during this 77 minutes long log I got 3.13% decoded audio. The fragments of audio was in English. The max. SNR was 16.36 at 2359 UTC.

Sighted in Stockholm this evening with the Label GOS 1 and SNR around 7 dB. The 20.88 kbps bitrate is too high to decode any audio.

DR111 with an external active antenna
A 24 minutes long log from this morning with 77.63% CDA and 17 dB max. SNR. The clock in DR111 was a few minutes fast.

Looks like the transmission ended early. High Doppler and no decoded audio here this morning.
