Don't make me nervous by posting threads with titles like this one... I am waiting for March 25!
Just defining http://www.ok1mjo.com/all/ostatni/t-...imace/NewStar/ as my new home page... ...integrated e-book reader, that's cool, isn't it?

The latest information is that the UniWave receivers are entering the regulatory approvals process. Mass production is planned for early April 2009. They are expected to be on the market by the end of that month. Last edited by Zalm : 03-03-2009 at 10:33. |

Should'nt we care more about the lack of DRM stations than a new receiver ?

We have had a reasonably good receiver for a few years, you only need one really. DRM is simply of zero interest to Joe Public due to the dominance of internet radios which are so common place now as I predicted they would be

No DRM receiver has yet been marketed competently. Two or three pricey models based on bulky and now-antiquated technology have been available on a limited basis, but not enough to stimulate much manufacturer competition, retailer interest or listener takeup. Quote:
It is not DRM that is of no interest to Joe Public, it is shortwave broadcasting. DRM is not responsible for any failure of SW broadcasters to make themselves relevant in the 21st century. DRM can be part of the solution to that problem, not the cause of the problem. |

That software for keeping the DRM schedule in the receiver up-to-date and managing the favourites looks quite good.
Hope some will be on the market soon.

Some news about the receiver here:
http://alokeshgupta.blogspot.com/200...r-to-cost.html If you want to hear the short item it's 13 and a half minutes in, Adrian had tested a prototype of the receiver in May, had some reservations which he hopes have been addressed. Comments at the end of this piece say it's battery hungry and died on day three: http://kimelli.nfshost.com/index.php?id=7024 |

Via drmna:
Giampiero Bernardini from Milan, Italy tested the new Uniwave DRM receiver & has posted some nice pictures in his blog. You can read the post in his blog (in Italian) here : http://radiodxinfo.blogspot.com/ Here's the link for translated version of his blog in English : http://tinyurl.com/l3sesd Alokesh Gupta New Delhi. |

This german report
http://www.teltarif.de/ifa-alan-digi...ews/35620.html says that the uniwave uses radioscape module which did not perform well in the past. Even the manufacturer admits that it is not an ideal solution ... why didn't they chose a satisfying solution then? Isn't there any? Google Translation Last edited by DRM-OM : 05-09-2009 at 22:09. |

As far as I know the Uniwave di-wave 100 radio does not use the Radioscape RS500 module like some other radios before.
The di-wave 100 should be based on the Newstar WR608 plattform, using a Mirics tuner. I only did a few quick tests, so canīt say how it compares to the previous DRM radios and before publishing any reports we should wait for the final version which has been announced to be available for IBC.
