Question DRM via satillite?

Hi!

I know that some 'finished' DRM signals get to the relay-stations via satellite.

E.g. the Deutsche Welle DRM stream (Audio, label, Journaline, headlines as textmessages...) is generated in Bonn and finally broadcasted via Hotbird to the transmitter station.

So what I'd like to know: How to receive these "DRM-Feeds" on Hotbird? Has anyone discovered the frequency?

I even found some feeds on Hotbird wich maybe are used for relays:

13 East

GBTS 1 at: 12597, SR 27500, V, Audio and PCR PID: 2130 (two audio channels)

GBTS 2 at: 12597, SR 27500, V, Audio and PCR PID: 2173 (two audio channels)

The next feeds are used by VT Communications:

VTCSW1 at: 12597, SR 27500, V, Audio and PCR PID: 2029

VTCSW2 at: 12597, SR 27500, V, Audio and PCR PID: 2021

There is even a Deutsche Welle feed:

DWFEED-1 at: 11604, SR 27500, H, Audio PID 2162, PCR PID 133
But no DRM...

So I'm still looking for the DRM feed. Any clues?

Greetings

Does anyone know whether it would be possible to use a satellite for DRM transmission directly to a portable radio?

I have read that the early Russian Sputnik satellite produced a signal HF. Does anyone know whether you could make a signal from such a satellite high enough in level to receive indoors, without having to use a special directional receiving antenna?

Hi Leo,
actually for DW the DRM stream is not available there as DVBS audio.
Also the multiplexer is not always at the Tx site. Some stations distribute the MDI stream to the Tx sites as described in the link that Andy posted above. Otherwise they could not operate an SFN.

Now I know how it works:
Thanks to Mr. G. in Bonn

Hotbird 8 13E - 11.604 GHz-H

There is a data-stream which is assigned to the channel DW01 (German) Service-ID 3510, PID is 2510. Two MDI streams are broadcasted, 224.1.1.1 and 224.1.1.2, port 8888.
