When I compare the same segment as Ant-SWL I get more or less the same result. My log is a bit longer and the signal was not so strong at the beginning. Towards the end there was no audio and I cut off the logging when the carrier disappeared.
The carrier returned shortly afterwards with 22 dB SNR, but there was no audio, just the characteristic churning of the DRM modulation. At 2137 the RF signal disappeared. After a couple of re-starts I gave up listening. SDC was red and MSC was grey. After 2141 UTC I switched off. |

At the beginning the signal was very weak. Later on the conditions improved and I got an astonishing 97% CDA over a period of more than two hours despite the high bitrate AIR seems to prefer.

Indeed, 4/16 is better, much better, but there seems to be something missing in the configuration anyway. As long as the signal was fairly strong, the audio came through very well, but as soon as the signal weakened, decoding problems returned. By the way, when I started logging there was no sound at all, seems like things worked OK from 18:20 or so, UTC.

Hi all,
The signal was below 32 dBuV, although there were some good periods. Low SNR and decoding problems when signal fades, noise in the audio background (hum + voice of other program(?))

Wow, back to 20.84 kbps again! Dear AIR, do you want to reach your listeners or not? I herewith assign to AIR the "NTSC of DRM" DIGger award: "Never Twice Same Configuration". Much more chopped up, AAC+ AND 7 kHz audio, distorted and all - hum in the background as usual... this is not the way we would like to listen to Short-Wave DRM.

Hi all.
Very good signal this evning 44dbuV . Log 66min. CDA 95.8% ok. It is very fast selective fading, give dropouts. Last edited by Sixten : 04-02-2009 at 18:17. |

Severe distortion made me switch of this station at 2123 UTC. No fun to listen to such a terrible stuff.
It's a pity, as the signal was very strong tonight. Sorry AIR, I'm not impressed of this "near-FM quality". ![]() |

The signal was much weaker tonight, and you can see it clearly in the log. It would be great to see the same configuration (like yesterday's) for a week in a row, then it would be possible to compare the results!

Tonight the reception was very good despite the high bitrate. At the beginning there was no audio, so I set my Plotter to watch for Mode changes. When the audio came on, the bitrate seems to have been lower than 20.84 for a short while, but from then on the reception was great.
I enclose two logs; one zoomed log from approximately when the audio came on and the other with Label and other information. The latter part was almost perfect! ![]() |
