Oranienburg 0177 kHz
Hi all,
Deutschlandradio Kultur on 177 kHz now in DRM. Excellent reception near Kassel, no problem with Europe 1 on 183 kHz. 73, Klaus

Thanks Klaus.
Your Winradio spectrum display shows 183khz will not stop your 177khz reception. It does here in UK. 3- 5dB SNR. Some chopped up audio suggests sound quality should be good? I have rotated my loop aerial previously to receive 177 more in the clear, so will do it again

According to the label audio should be stereo with 23.5 kbps.
I guess it's only 16 kbps, no SBR at the moment. 73, Klaus |

Hi all,
very stable reception here in South East Germany, audio quality is ok. A stable signal like this makes it possible to change some adjustments (gain) or to try different antennas. Hopefully this will become a regular transmission. Bernd, DF9RB |

Anyone know what DRM transmission shedules/times are available for this station. I can pick up the am transmission most times during day and night time.

Hi all,
Here is my log for this afternoon. There was 2 major interuptions, one at 12.54 and 13.22 UTC. There must of been some problem at the transmitter but was only brief. The french AM station on 183Khz caused little splatter but posed no problems. Generally very pleased with the reception and audio considering my distance.

Hi Mark,
I just came home and the first I did was to tune again to 177. I also have splatter from the 183. "Fortunately" the transmission on 177 switches of from time to time. So I used this interruptions to minimize the splatter from 183 by turning my ALA1530 a few degrees. In this optimal positon I got the 30 dB. Before I turned the ALA to minimum carrierer of 183. But In this position the SNR is only 25 dB. I do not understand why the minimum splatter position is different to minimal carrier position but it is. With my other antennas (30 m wire or EWE) the DRM reception on 177 is impossible (SNR only 8 to 10 dB) because the splatter from 183 is to strong. Did you also try to minimize splatter with your ALA? I enclosed two screenshots with transmitter on 177 off. Above 12 khz you can see the splatter from 183 with the ALA and the other the EWE Bernd , DF9RB |

Hi Bernd, Luckely for me 183 Khz and Oranienburg are nearly 90 deg apart in direction from my location. First of all before I started logging, the ALA 1530 was pointing to 183 Khz and the splatter was not to bad here but the SNR was only 9-10 dbs. When I moved the ALA to null out 183 Khz the SNR improved by about 4 dbs. Don`t know why your other antennas are performing so poor on this freq, maybe noise or something. Ever since I purchased the ALA I have never known a antenna to perform so well for the size. It may not have as much gain as the others but the SNR or "quiet" characteristics are amazing.

Hi all,
Oranienburg on 177 kHz with DRM test. Bad audio quality (spectrum shows only 6 kHz). Strong signal, but low SNR (max. 15 dB) because of adjacent channel (183 kHz). 73, Klaus

Signal looks really strong here in Frankfurt. Much stronger than RTL 1440 khz on daytime. But the Mega blaster on 183 khz destroys every chance of a sync. Screenshot was taken with AOR and 20 khz filter. Authorites should think about putting these two stations back into the normal 9 khz scheme.
