SONY ICF-SW30 Modification
It is very easy to modify the SONY ICF-SW30.
1. Open the back cover (4 screws marked with an arrow) 2. Take IF signal from Q17 (located above CX20111), GND from a nearby pin (see enclosed picture). I recommend to add an addional IF Filter in the signal path to the IF-Down Converter. This will give a slight better S/N Ratio. The 2nd. IF Frequeny of the SW30 is 460 khz. You must tune 5 khz above the desired freqency if you are using a IF Converter that is designed for 455 khz. DRM reception is very good with this receiver. I am using an IF Converter with NE 602. Reference frequency is generated from a PAL Xtal (4,433 Mhz) divided by a 4017. |
