The hickupping person doesn't get his throat cleared because it seems to be throttled, ie bandwidth is only about 9.6 kHz, see attachment.

I "love" totally automated stations with no human being around to fix this. What a luck that there are still no DRM Radios in the stores, so nobody will take a note of this.

I really miss the music from the WOMAD music festival which would have been broadcast today.

Sorry for the fault, we never saw this one before, so it is important to find out the cause rather than simply rebooting all the equipment. It could be at the studio or transmitter site, as from the description it is not obvious what is the cause. So it will be fixed in the morning once we find out exactly what the cause is.

If the scheduled end of transmission at 23:00 UTC will not clear the current state as well ... Or is it just the TX that is switched off? Roland |

Hi James, all,
the problem ist still the same at the beginning of the transmission this morning, so good for investigating what´s causing the problem. Simone |

Hi Roland, it looked like a software fault rather than any transmitter fault, so I was expecting the same fault this morning. In fact it seems the Thales Modulator PC at Orfordness has crashed so the fault was at Orfordness.

MOBILE RECEPTION
Orfordness working again this afternoon.
Driving from Osnabrueck to 48712 Gescher. The short vertical antenna ontop of the car is good at low elevation, so some early problems with onchannel AM interference. The AM carrier was often visible, probably from Spain.

Hi,
on-channel carriers were strong (with the signal from Valencia perfectly nulled) and there were a lot of fading periods causing many dropouts. Local interference level was low. Roland |

Hi all,
strong and stable signal (except the first 10min), perfect results, see attachment But seems to be the wrong datastream at the start this morning (RTHK)! Simone |

Hi,
there were some problems with a long impulse response tonight. Local interference level was low and I have no idea what caused the sudden improvement in reception that can be seen in my log. Roland |

On the verge of winter conditions
Hi,
it seems as if winter conditions are looming. Here is a screenshot showing the slowly lengthening impulse response as monitored here in Munich today. |
