Judging by the answers to my e-mails to AIR, I doubt very much that someone really reads this forum, but this evening the configuration was pretty successful. Let's hope that they don't fiddle with the knobs until tomorow night, so that we can get a chance to compare at least two evenings with this configuration!

Best to throw away illusions. We are back to 20.8kbps.

Surprisingly good reception for a while despite the higher bitrate.

Yes, you are right Terje. I take back a part of my pessimism.

Sorry, but the muck they are transmitting now at 2030 probably makes no sense to the people who speak the language either... But propagation was not so bad tonight...

The bitrate used for this transmission is too high and not justified by the "quality" of the audio source material.
Something robust around 17 kbps would be much better, see attached screenshot, where the problems start below 22dB SNR, while at 17 kbps there would be no problems at 20 dB SNR.

It's is no use giving suggestions to AIR, nobody cares. When I asked for a QSL card, the reply was "we don't issue QSL cards for test transmissions" (!). My log is only a short log between other logs.

Good results, but a bit lopsided programme. A bit less politics would be nice. (I can say this safely, as nobody at AIR reads this anyway )
