AIR on 15030 kHz from Bangalore, North East Asia service

Dual service Chinese/Tibetan transmission for North East Asia from AIR Bangalore 15030 kHz noted here in New Zealand from 1145-1330 UTC December 5th. Audio decoding around 28% (better than the undectable Australia/non-New Zealand broadcast also in the 19m band an hour or so earlier!).

Cheers, Chris

Thanks, Chris, for these logs from AIR and straight talk. Although we appreciate these digital SW broadcasts, these digital broadcasters need the truth which is often painful to hear. Nothing will improve unless we listeners tell it like it really is.

I agree with Chris and his Australia/New Zealand and lack of reception.
Same thing with transmissions aimed at Europe, they often fails.
But this transmission for North East Asia is picked up at my location!
No audio, but clearly visible label. Time 12:05 UTC.

Talking 15030 kHz, AIR in Chineese

I noticed this QRG tonight for the first time. According to the HFCC list it was supposed to go off the air at 1315. Perhaps a log later (or tomorrow).

PS: The signal disappeared at 1330 UTC.

AIR in "CHINEESE" and "VB/TIBETIAN" logged for 35 minutes from 1256-1331 UTC. Max. 14,91 dB SNR and 1,05% decoded audio.

10,48 kbps, EEP, aac, Mono, B/10, 2s, 16/64, P1/0, Audio 2/Data 0, No time & date

AIR in "CHINESE" seen on the Newstar DR-111 around 1210 UTC but not logged. About 9-10 dB SNR with the telescopic antenna and no decoded audio.

I must be "getting" old... Heck no, I am old so I appreciate the simplicity and beauty of mere tuning and allowing the radio to do the rest. The rest includes grabbing the signal over the air, filtering content based on timezone, displaying of all sorts of information on my widescreen projector, etc. I want the broadcaster and radio to do the work of providing relevant and flexible content ... If necessary, I can then act on that content. Age is wonderful despite the aches and pains and DRM can help as I hobble through the remainder of my life.

AIR was on air in "CHINESE", logged for 19 minutes from 1309-1328 UTC. Max. 15,77 dB SNR and 0,04% decoded audio. Actually, I did not notice the audio myself. ;-)

By the way, there is not much at all to listen to on short wave in Japan. I wonder how many transmitters China has in operation every day? They are all over the place.

Yesterday (8th July) around 1320 UTC I could barely see the DRM signal from AIR. SNR was 1-4 dB and there was no Label in DReaM.
