Same muffled audio as usual, bit 100% CDA.

Just about 84% CDA this evening. Looks like the propagation was out. The Doppler was 5.7 Hz around 1947 UTC, and that was that. Finito.

VON

One of the best received stations here, but I can't listen to VON as the audio is so awful.

Please, Voice of Nigeria sort out the bandwidth & audio, as it totally defeats the purpose of DRM!

Newstar DR111

Almost perfect reception. I wrote to VoN again and asked them to switch to a different DRM Mode. I have no high expectations though...

The last 20 minutes resulted in 60% CDA. Before that the reception was perfect.

Tuned in tonight and switched off.
NOT WORTH TO LISTEN TO.
The audio quality is much worse than with a standard AM signal.
My suspicion:
The big massas got an expensive training on how to configure a DRM modulator,
and now the untrained engineers at the station are standing in the rain.

I asked a guy down there who has answered my mails before to do something about this horrible configuration, but no reply any more...

Despite nearby heavy thunderstorms the DR111 never dropped out. The signal deteriorated towards the end when the Doppler went sky high . . .

Looks like the transmission stopped early tonight.
The audio quality was so bad that you could almost not understand anything of what was said.

Newstar DR111 with telescopic antenna

A most peculiar log tonight. I'm not sure if those audio drop-outs were caused by lightning in the vicinity, but never mind the drop-outs, I listened for 50 minutes without understanding one single word. Overdriven, distorted, 9 kbps - near . . . near what . . . "quality" would be an insult to the audio.

Sorry, Voice of Nigeria, this is the last log from my side until someone sets a new configuration in that DRM encoder. If I cannot be able to sort out the contents of your transmission because the sad state of your coding, then - good-bye. It is no use to have this distorted whatever-it-is blaring out of the loudspeaker. I want to LISTEN, but this is rubbish. Not even worth disk space on my side and a waste of electricity on your side.

The only plus point: Reception of whatever it was was perfect....

My second Newstar DR111 with telescopic antenna

Hi Mitsuru-san,

Nice to have met you last time when I was in Japan. This transmitter produces a solid signal, but the audio is a catastrophe.

Yesterday I said that was my last log, but here is another last log...

Another last log - hi - from last night. The first 40 minutes were perfect, but then the Doppler increased and nothing was heard for about 25 minutes.
