China National Radio on 11695 kHz

Hi all,

Good reception of China National Radio on 11695 kHz in DRM now in central Japan. The time displayed is Chinese time, not UTC. Time of writing: 0133 UTC. Log later.

EDIT: Added a log. Just got it confirmed that both frequencies are transmitted from Dongfang (DOF) and the DRM Power is 30 kW.

Voice Of China on a new frequency, apparently a fine-tuning session, logged for 61 minutes from 0759-0900 UTC. Max.22,97 dB SNR and 99,93% decoded audio. It has been a long time since I logged a DRM station with 99% decoded audio!

Does anyone know the actual azimuth of this beam, aimed at Taiwan perhaps? I assume the power is 30 kW digital ...

11695 kHz 0100-0900UTC CIRAF 44S (sort of SE China) DOF (Dongfang) 30 kW AZ41deg ant:206.

I was out all day today in the beautiful autumn weather, so I just got the last hour of this transmission. Log in post #3.

Oh, I see your edit in the first post now so it's confirmed that both of the new tests are from DOF. Thanks, Terje

23rd Oct.

Voice Of China logged for 491 minutes from 0049-0901 UTC. Max.21,89 dB SNR and 74,42% decoded audio. Between 0715-0901 there was more than 96% decoded audio. The decoded audio started at 0057 UTC.

Quite heavy Fading. S4-7, max. S9 measured around 0105 UTC. 14,56 kbps and 5000 Hz Audio Bandwidth. Good sound (Mono). There seems to be a TX break between 0435-0500. A mostly unattended log due to my absence.

Oct 24th, 2018 partial log ...

Frequency: +
Codec: -
Modulation: + (if still 16 QAM)

The maximum SNR as logged is a spurious result.

My outdoor antenna is NOT properly oriented for broadcasts from the NW due to an illegal migrant with an illegal TV.

24th Oct.

China National Radio logged for 71 minutes from 0750-0900 UTC. This afternoon the configuration was 14,56 kbps, UEP(22,2%), AAC, Mono. B10 kHz, 2s, 4/16 QAM, P1/1, Audio:1 / Data:0. Time is Chinese UTC+8.
Max.20,72 dB SNR and 97,02% decoded audio.

The last 75 minutes of the transmission is the best here (so far). I wonder why they use UEP instead of the more common EEP?

26th Oct.

This morning the reception of 11695 was very weak. This log was taken until the end of the transmission.

China National Radio logged for 73 minutes from 0746-0859 UTC. Some decoding problems 0815 UTC due to RFI from a switched power supply in the room (see the comments in the log).

Max. 23,76 dB SNR and 98,90% decoded audio.

China National Radio Part 1 logged for 115 minutes from 0106-0301 UTC. The log was terminated by mistake, because I switched the PC to stand-by. Max. 17,64 dB SNR and 89,66% decoded audio.

China National Radio Part 2 logged for 185 minutes from 0556-0901 UTC. A TX break around 0607 UTC and later suddenly Radio France International started in AM on an adjacent channel for some 6 minutes. There was yet another TX break around 0833 UTC. Despite these problems, in all it was very good. Max. 24,99 dB SNR and 92,37% decoded audio (breaks and QRM included).
