Talking 4 Dec log

Here's a short log of the test transmission today: 100% CDA for the twenty minutes I managed to get. The SNR is also very close (within 3dB) of the maximum strength my receiver and antenna will produce, so today's figure is quite acceptable for me.

I did notice some fading to the signal when listening with an analog receiver, however it was not very strong and was no worse when compared to 15755 from Bonaire.

5 Dec log

Here's todays report. There were some obvious dropouts (2044-45) and the band faded badly for the last 20 minutes. I had 95.41% CDA for the broadcast period.

I did notice what appeared to be some content feed dropouts during the last hour. I heard the audio go briefly dead, but there was no indication that the signal was having problems (no change to the MSC/SDC/FAC etc. lights).

When compared to 15755 using an analog receiver, I did notice that 17755 was between 5 and 10dB lower in signal strength. There appeared to be an equal amount of fading between the frequencies, except for the last 20 minutes as noted.

I observed no adjacent or co-channel interference here either, and that's a good thing.

17755 kHz TDP/ The Disco Palace from Montsinery

This afternoon's reception - 66.72% audio. There was a lot of multipath distortion observed on the spectrum input - which somewhat corresponds to the doppler plot. The signal level was high which was also predicted by VOACAP (see 2nd attachment).

A much better day today: 98.26%. There was a cluster of dropouts beginning at about 2105 and finishing around 2127, which was the major failing today. No transmitter drops, which is always a good thing!

17755 kHz TDP/ The Disco Palace from Montsinery

This afternoon's reception - 78.47% audio. Problems seem to be mainly doppler related, as the signal level was high, but maybe some absorption occured too.

The 2nd attachment shows the spectrum plot at 20:40 when the worst of the propagation hit.

TDP 17.755 khz in Brazil

I think the sign of the TDP in the 17,755 khz arrive at its southern Brazil at the start of transmission.
When I was at a frequency of 15,755 kHz happened on the contrary, ie, the signal was better at the end of transmission.
I noticed that after the 21:20 h started an AM interference. See the picture attached.

Another great day here, only a few small dropouts to mar the decode rate, making it 97.95% today.

Since the early closing seems to be the 'normal' time, I'll shorten my log by 2 minutes to compensate. That would actually bring up the decode rate too!

Much better - 90.63% audio.

If not for the early end of the transmission the report would have been a little better.

I re-ran my data and trimmed the last 5 minutes off: this gained me over 2%, to just under 100%. I'm actually going to reset the logger to stop at :55, this should fix that early closing.

Not as good as yesterday - 87.26% audio. There were also some audio breaks at the input of the transmitter.

Well, it was 99.94% here today, and only 4 small, short dropouts.

This afternoon's reception - 66.24% audio. Besides the propagation, there were also many audio feed breaks (transmitting stereo silence).

Only some very small dips here, so my CDA was a very respectable 99.97% today.

Two transmitter breaks in the last half hour, and there were more than a few audio dropouts that are not shown in the decode line. The CDA dropped to 97.85% as a result of the outages.

I'm quite sure the dropouts are coming from the content server, and not the transmitter: the MSC light was steady when listening, and propagation was also very good today.
