Thumbs down

Would be better if HCJB would use Rampisham or another relay in Europe, got about 13% CDA. That's no fun.

I think the reason why we didn't get much of a signal last days have been of technical or organizationally nature. (Is this correct english???)

At normal days the 4 kw signal is strong enough even at 19m at noon to get through to europe (at least to the northern parts - sorry digger!). I usually would get more than 98/99% every day if I wouldn't have the problems with local qrm at cold days. Its really amazing how far you can get with that very low-power TXer.

I think its useful for HCJB to build up own drm-knowledge and not to buy it somewhere. And its really useful for the whole drm-system to see what is possible and what modes are good to use at these conditions. Apart from that i think these transmissions are not so expensive (and probably you can't even book 4 kw at VT. )

I hope that these tests can go on in spring next year on 31m in the morning again for all of europe and I hope there will be some more high-power tests from pifo soon!

Stephan

Hi Stephan and all,

Agree with you Stephan, the transmissions should be received from the origin. That is the fascination with short wave.

I am far up at 60N and 18E but I am completely out of DRM receivers... It would have been interesting to compare my Swiss reception results to the the reception up here. Unfortunately, the Kchibo KK-DRM-01 is useless for DRM on frequencies above 7 MHz, so I left it at home...

Wish you all a Happy New Year.

Hi Stephan, hi Terje

of course it's great to listen to DRM signals from South America. And I hope that HCJB will be able to broadcast for many many years in AM and DRM. But for a 'usual' listener and not a DXer it might be difficult to receive these signals with a 'usual' receiver and a simple antenna. And for 'usual' listeners the signal has to be strong and reliable (like in last summer).

So that's why I thought about a relay for HCJB. I think DRM is a great thing for HCJB serving South America (http://www.drm.org/pdfs/press_release_146.pdf).

Have a happy New Year 2008!

HCJB 15275 KHz

Good result for a weak Signal ( max. S4) with fast fading. Minor dropouts.

Hi all!

Ok, today I started some tests with a Low-Cost SDR-Board. Signal was a little bit weak today and I tried some things during transmission times. So I've only a screenshot from the last 20 minutes of the transmission today.

RX has been made with the Low-Cost SDR-Testboard, so it seems that it works ok even for HCJB's low-Power TXer.

Very good reception. Very weak signal, but no audible dropouts.

A weak signal at the start, not too bad for listening later.

HCJB 15275 KHz

Not so good and stable like yesterday here. In the first 20 Min. only the label was visible from time to time. QRN by snowfall and deep fading.
