Here during the last weeks reception on this frequency deteriorated a lot.
25% audio is the best i got today. There is a big selective fading on the signal. So I concentrated on the reception of RFI on the adjacent channel. Almost perfect with problems only when BBC is 30 dB stronger. Not bad in my opinion. As a consolation later transmissions on 5875 and 7355 are almost perfect. |

Excellent reception this morning on my Newstar receiver using built-in whip antenna. 100% decoded between 0500 and 0600G, with SNR 23db.

Driving to work to Stuttgart I'm listening every morning to the BBC WS. Concerning this frequency it's pretty much useless. They shouldn't keep this frequency during the summer period for so long up on running. From 6 gmt the 49 m band frequency might be a better choice and the 5875 should used instead. For me there's a gap now, from 6 to 7 gmt with the unusable 3955, with constant interruptions.

At least it would be interesting if this transmission was overlapping with another one as 5875 and 7325 are. For me ,on average, it is the 5875 one witch is the least useful. But sure it depends on location and England is quite close for me. Last edited by F1BJB : 07-04-2013 at 10:29. |

newstar and PKs loop SW620
Good reception this morning for 2 hrs, then went to 5845kHz, though the one that is most likely reliable in the UK all the time is 7355k, I'm in E Devon

Here the 5875 is the most useful frequency.
The Moosbrunn frequency shifted to 7325 for the summer schedule. But my radio still gives the wrong, old winter frequency 7355 and doesn't switch to 7325, even after I reset the radio. I think the BBC is broadcasting a list of outdated alternative frequencies. Last edited by brouillage : 21-04-2013 at 11:08. |

Unusable in SW Germany
From 6 to 8 (MEST) they broadcast the WS only on this single verly low frequency. Both my car radio and the receiver on the window sill at home decode roughly less than 50 %. It is unusable here in SW Germany during the winter season and it's worse during the summer season. Nothing changed with the move to Woofferton. If they want to broadcast on a low frequency why don't they use the old 648 instead?
From 8 to 10 (when I have less chances to listen to) they simulcast on two brilliant frequencies. Why can't they broadcast instead on two alternative frequencies in the early morning hours from 6 to 8? Or why don't they broadcast on single frequencies for additional two hours? Anyone knows whom to complain to? |

Who to complain to?
Not sure who you can complain to now, is it the BBC or Babcock? If you complain to the BBC, you might get the reply that as far as they are concerned, the best way to listen to the BBC WS is via the internet! At the moment here in S.E. England 3955 kHz from Woofferton works well until 0600 UTC, when this transmitter switches off. 7325 kHz from Moosbrunn is not so good and I have not heard 5875 kHz from Woofferton for some time now. All reception being conducted with a indoor Newstar DR111 with its internal antenna.
