15755 kHz TDP/ The Disco Palace from Bonaire

Excellent signal so far! The SNR is currently 19.8dB, which is near perfect for my gear. No noticeable hits or multipath issues either.

Will be back after the end with my logged data.

Talking 28 Mar log - first day

Excellent reception as I noted earlier. The switch over between TDP and DP was very, very short. I was watching the MSC constellation as it happened, and there was just a quick "blink" and it was done.

A nice job by Bonaire.

A late night for you, Ludo, staying up to see my log!

No problem to record it, as it you know. I won't be able to post so early tomorrow, as work gets in the way until nearly 2330 UTC.

Ouch! Someone sunbathing on the shores of Bonaire and missing the audio feed?

Someone up at Sackville didn't get CBC started on time this morning either...

Talking 30 Mar log

Much, much better today. In fact, this is the best TDP/DP broadcast so far: 100% all around! I found one (1) error in the MSC at 19:39:55 and that was all. Only one second for one error: not bad I'd say. The switchover was near flawless: no errors there at all, only a dip in the decode.

My thanks to the Bonaire site people - well done!

The radio part was near flawless.

Unhappy 1 Apr log

Another not-so-good day for TDP/DP. A report from the DRM-NA list follows:

"The 2000UTC broadcast of The Disco Palace on 15755KHz to NA/Canada is
flipping back and forth between RNW-English and The Disco Palace.

The signal (when listened to on a normal SW radio) has a pulsing noise
almost as if there are 2 DRM signals being transmitted.

Every now and then we get an RNW-English ident come up (E38300) and then
we get a Disco Palace ident come up (A0A201) along with all the
appropriate labels for each service.

Let me make this a bit clearer. I'm not seeing 2 channels on the same RF
carrier but rather 2 competing program sources on the same RF carrier.

I've made a 12KHz IF recording for your listening pleasure should you
wish to take a listen."

Aren't computers fun? I have no label to my log, so this seems to be correct, and I do not doubt the reporting listener.

Exclamation 2 Apr log and audio report

The difficulties continued today, although it looks like the audio issue was fixed eventually.

I watched the Service ID rapidly switch between "E38300" and "E06021" (RNW & TDP respectively) for the first three minutes. There was no MSC data, the SDC constellation was 'frozen,' and the FAC was just fine. At 1903 the audio seemed to clear, and TDP began to be heard.

At that point I had to go off and couldn't continue to watch, but in reviewing my log it would appear that the audio dropped again twice, and then was fully restored during the Disco Palace segment. Hopefully all is better now.

Exclamation 3 Apr log

TDP continues to be disrupted at the content server. Several other listeners on the DRM-NA list observed the rapid switching of the service ID's, and reported a very mechanical "chuffing" sound when switching to analog. It was RNW and TDP changing again, both ID's could be seen.

My data indicates that the audio cleared up at 1957 just before switching to the Disco Palace feed.

There was an early shutdown at 2057 as well.

Just for interest I tuned in tonight and received the signal from Bonaire, some audio decoding possible at the beginning of my log, did not notice the problem with changing configurations during that time, hopefully it is solved now?!

Hi Simone,

Yes, it was fixed today. One tiny little break in the RF today at 1913, but otherwise no other errors at all. The switchover was flawless. Numerous reports on DRM-NA indicate good reception across the country, around 22-24dB SNR.

The problem has indeed been identified by the people in Bonaire thanks to info from listeners and a solution is in place.
It is great to see the many reports in the drmna mailing list. Would be nice if they could post reports to the drm rx forum as well from time to time.
