Didn't AIR once broadcast DRM on 15050 kHz from Delhi to southern India as well? If so, a listener might expect similar reception from 9950 kHz as well. The channel was clear so AIR selected a good frequency, though. Naturally, no signal was observed nor expected.

AIR Tests in CELP

Alokesh said they tested some of the time in CELP.

Have their been transmissions in CELP before and was anyone able to log them?

I have some screen shots of Deutsche Welle from October 2005 but no sound recordings. Given the souind quality with 8.38 kbps it was not worth wasting HDD memoy on it. I also have a screen shot of AIR in AAC (12.0 kbps) and CELP (3.86 kbps) from 6th June 2010. The title of that file is "celp_sounds_terrible.jpg".

CELP of all modes... if AIR now has a new TX installed, then why don't they transmit in xHE-AAC?!

Here's an old recording of mine from 2007 with DW using CELP:

It may not have been great audio, but at least I had something to decode!

Cheers, Chris

Wasn't CELP intended for speech only?

RTÉ also used CELP for one of their GAA Hurling transmissions many years ago which were mostly speech only, so all in all it was okay. Nice memories.
