That's not good! I need to get a few logs before they disappear. Looks like it could be as soon as the end of the first week of September!

REE

REE has been a great supporter of DRM and I thank them for that.

REE & VOR

While REE seems to cease SW transmissions Voice of Russia return to shortwave, as seen there: http://mt-shortwave.blogspot.co.uk/2...return-to.html

... still broadcasting ...

If you listen from the source (mailbag programm vor example) you would have heard them explaining that staff does not know anything about the future.
Rumours arise from the fact that the new management postponed the schedule change timed vor this mentioned first September weekende for another week and went on holidays instead of explaining plans for the future ...

REE 9780 kHz

As I write this at 0630 UTC on the 1st Oct 2014, REE is on the air on 9780 kHz, so perhaps today is the last day?

The Closure plans as many of you may know have now descended into farce. At first it was announced that they would close at the end of August, then September. The next "Closure Date" is now 15th October. Even the announcers don't know. Apparently they were on strike for part of yesterday. No problem with them doing that but wonder if they should also sue REE for attempting to constructively dismiss them. The atmosphere there must be horrible. Re Russia, as has been said registering frequencies is not the same as using them. Even when VOR -and Radio Moscow before them-were on shortwave, they never gave out frequency details on air.

REE Closure

Many thanks for the update Mike, I wonder where you got your information about the 15th October from?

REE

Thanks Mike, I must give them a listen on 9665 kHz AM before they go, I assume you find this the best frequency.
