5th April

I could not even see a trace of signal on 17640 kHz during the first 21 minutes. so I left the frequency.

I think the way TX (method A) was not responsible for this problem, because the decrease in SNR occurred in the exchange of frequency of 17.860khz to 16.640khz but not the way or the rate changed.

Assessing the two modes of RX so far, I have the impression that Mode A it is easier to decode than the "B mode.

I tried CVC at about 18.30 UTC. I could decode for some minutes, but the the signal disapeared step by step till I couldn't see it anymore. (18.50 UTC)

Apart from that CVC in Mode A seems works here to germany very good, too.

Wow! Tonight things were back to normal. 98.5% CDA overall. The SNR reached its maximum at 19:56 UTC and the Doppler was at its lowest at 19:58. The last hour was just perfect.

Hi all,

The signal was a little bit over the noise floor, some fragments of audio was heard and a TX break down, then the signal sunk in the noise.

I caught the Label at 18:12 UTC, but there was nothing to log until around 19 UTC. The rest was not very good and the CDA stopped at just over 70%.

Tonight much better than yesterday. Label and sound from 18 UTC sharp. A bit weaker towards the very end. Was there a TX break at 19:03 ??

Hi Mathias and all.

No signal her in Sweden from start but so 1900 peak S meter on S4 .
So from 1904 S5 up to 1930 to S9 . Very good DRM signal today.

Very long time a go for so fine propagation , MUF was 18Mhz today.

Hi all,

The path opened at ~18:05 and closed at ~19:10, max signal up to 35 dBuV. Two periods of good results as seen on the screenshots, 4 mode changes.

Hi Mathias and all,

Nice talking to you at the end. Seems that the signal picked up quite a lot towards the end here, but Greece got nothing. The propagation plays tricks on us, apparently.

I saw three mode changes. It is difficult to tell just during one transmission when the propagation also changes underway. Anyway, please try different modes under a period of time; perhaps we can see differences.

@John, the reason we do not have the same time stamps in the mode changes is that my logger registers the mode change when it has "seen" the mode for a certain time. Therefore, under difficult reception conditions, the registration of a mode change may differ between locations and reception conditions.

Protection 0/0 is definitely better than 2/0. The decoding improved as can be seen in the plot. Except for the PC overload at 18:47 UT, the following SNR dips were caused by lightning from 2 weak thunderstorms about 90 km from my location. I have no explanation for the reduced frames from 19:30 and on. Looking at the CSV file, data looks unfamiliar. Could that be because of UEP and Dream ??? Looks peculiar in DrmCalc too.

But the CDA was 99.5% from 18:28 until the end of the transmission. Good.

Hi Mathias and all,

log start today was 1900 UTC. Good result with protect level 0/0. With 2/0 a stable decoding is not possible here.
BTW: First DRM-log with my FT-817 to this forum.

Decoded audio 99,69% (18:57-19:58h)
Excelente!

Exemplo: 18:27-18:28h.

Translation: "Google"
NOTE: for transmission today, some changes were made to UEP: 43% -0% -43%.
When UEP is 43% audio decodes with SNR of 10dB above. With UEP 0% audio decodes only above SNR of 15 dB. Example: 18:27-18:28h.

Some problems in the beginning with low SNR and no audio. The rest was almost perfect. 18:13-19:57: 99.9 % CDA. Taking the first part into account, the entire transmission ended on 92.6 % CDA.

A very good result when the audio was present.
