I noticed that there were several short transmitter breaks in this transmission. The programme title was "60 minutes" according to the announcer. The signal was much weaker than usual and the SNR was 13.5 dB at its best. Perhaps the antenna matching was bad and that caused the breaks???

Oh, by the way, DRM SWR did not even produce a label. Anyone has experience with this RX and Mode C?

14 Jul 2015 : Voice of Nigeria 15120 kHz

The transmission was on air from 18:00-19:30 UTC, though my plot only starts at 18:20. There was 99% decoded audio.

18:00-21:00 UTC Planetary K-index 2-. Local K-index 2.

Planetary A-index: 32. Solar flux: 107. SWPC Sunspot number: 44.
Sunset 20:15 UTC.

Hi Terje, good to see your log, I find it difficult to detect short breaks in transmission on VoN due to the audio not being too good in the first place!

Planetary A-index: 7. Solar flux: 101. SWPC Sunspot number: 39.

No modulation tonight (?) at least all I heard was noise that disappeared just before the signal went off the air. The dips in the audio may have been caused by a local thunderstorm on the southern outskirts of Stockholm.

By the way, the DRM SWR did lock on to the Mode C transmission tonight and the "audio" was the same as with Dream - just noise.

PS: After looking at Neil's log it looks like the 'audio' dropouts were TX related and not thunderstorm-related!

16 Jul 2015 : Voice of Nigeria 15120 kHz

The transmission was on air from 18:00-19:40 UTC, an extra 10 minutes. I can confirm with Terje; there was no programming; just noise. There was 99% decoded 'noise'.

18:00-21:00 UTC Planetary K-index 1. Local K-index 2.

Planetary A-index: 7. Solar flux: 99. SWPC Sunspot number: 39.
Sunset 20:13 UTC.

I have noticed that when I play the REC file from the Newstar in Dream, it decodes the Date and Time information OK. On my Morphy Richards, which I have set to automatic time update, it resets the clock to the wrong time.

Lots of audio dropouts and towards the end the audio disappeared and there was only this noise again.

19 Jul 2015 : Voice of Nigeria 15120 kHz

The transmission was on air from 18:02-19:30 UTC, a couple of minutes late. No plot as the Newstar chewed up the log, but I can report an average SNR of 11dB and 99% decoded audio.

18:00-21:00 UTC Planetary K-index 0+. Local K-index 1.

Planetary A-index: 4. Solar flux: 99. SWPC Sunspot number: 52.

No signal was received tonight, so I assume it was off the air.
