TruckRadio Digital Converter Box

Hi,

in a press release on this german website, a DRM "converter", termed "TruckRadio Digital Converter Box" is shown that is intended to be put into the antenna line of an FM receiver. Developed by Starwaves, this is in fact an independent receiver whose audio output is modulated onto an FM carrier so that an existing FM receiver can be used to listen to DRM without further modification.

As stated on the website, though being pretuned to TruckRadio, the receiver can also be tuned to other DRM services below 30 MHz via a remote control device.

In agreement with TruckRadio's intended audience, it is intended mainly for the application in trucks and cars. Its development seems to have been funded or triggered by the german commercial broadcaster "TruckRadio" who, besides being present on satellite, is currently already transmitting in AM on two mediumwave frequencies from two sites in Germany.

Hi all,
at the DRM stand at IFA I asked people from Truck Radio about the converter box, but they had never heard of it strange!

Hi Simone,

the people from Truck Radio were probably just students that had been hired by Truck Radio to advertise Truckradio on IFA.

For those who did not have the chance to see the Starwaves Truck Box at IFA of IBC, it is also being presented at the IAA (international car fair) in Frankfurt this week.
