Hi Esteves,
bad results on this frequency, because of a weaker signal and interference from the adjacent channnel above, see attachment

Hi,

I had expected more from this frequency. Quite bad results, similar to Simones results. But I had not an interference problem. I only noticed a strong AM Signal at the begining and the end on 5985 khz.

The DRM signal was very strong, but the impulse response looked not clear, it was one very wide signal, so the SNR was quite low. RTL on 5990 khz was always stronger, but that could not cause interference I think.

But the sound quality seemed to be improved. Sounded quite good.

Very nice reception of Deutsche Welle on 5980 kHz.

Audio quality is very good and the music sounds really nice!

We have been hoping for 2 DRM channels 10 kHz apart from each other for some time to find out if there would be any interference between the 2. Now we can be absolutely confident that there is no interference between the 2. The 2 "hats" on the spectrum analyzer are nicely besides each other, with what looks like a 50 Hz wide dip between the 2 signals.

The next step is SFN so that the number of frequencies in use by a broadcaster can be reduced as much as possible!

Good reception RTL2 and DW at 2200-2300

Very nice reception of Deutsche Welle on 5980 kHz and RTL2 on 5990kHz.

There was no interference.
I have receive both signal at the elektor dds receiver en the Tentec RX300 receiver.

Reception was only with the Fraunhofer software posible.
I have try the Dream software but my pc is little to slow (1Ghz)

I have also put in the Elektor receiver the same extra If filter.

The s/n ratio was 20 to 26db for both stations

As antenna I use a broadband magnetic loop arial combined with CP6 vertical antenna. (A way of noise reduction)

Hi all,

today, reception was quite OK with 98.1 percent audio. Very strong signal. Adjacent DRM channels are no problem. I remember DW on 15440 and Radio Sawa on 15430 khz.

Very good music, modern Jazz. But an extreme strong AM Signal on 5985 khz killed the last 3 minutes of Fine Young cannibals Jazz version of "Jonny"

I still think, that sound quality is better than on 15440 khz, but I will check that again.

Hi all,

very stable today. The big dropout at 21:40 was caused by an AM station on 5985 khz. They switched on a bit early and switched off a few seconds later.

But can someone please fix the sound quality?

Hi all,

again very strong and stable (S9+30 and more) signal. The dropout again was caused by an AM station on 5985, switched on only for some seconds.

The bass still caused sometimes distortions.

Hi,

unfortunately no reception in south Luxembourg - spectrum is very unstable and SNR is too low ...

Hi,

spectrum looked very weird (really !), but reception was close to perfect. SNR oscillated around 20 dB (min: 17; max: 22). Signal level was S9+30 (well, never trust ham radio S-meters ... quite strong though). Sometimes the receiver lost sync for a brief moment even if the audio continued to play normally. No negative interactions with 5990 kHz. At 2145z, AM carrier on 5985 kHz - no interferences. Carrier disappeared shortly after 2146z. I forgot to start the log, but I guess decoded audio percentage was close to 97% durinq the last 30 minutes.

receiver: TS-440S
antenna: active loop antenna

Hi all,

perfect reception. This short AM test everyday at 21:46 UTC on 5985 khz is really a shame. It's like a dog that alwas wants to mark his territory.

Hi,

it's interesting to watch, how the receiver and the decoder software behaves when there are 2 adjacent DRM channels.

Today's reception was quite good, even though there was a high level of delayed impulses (but not as bad as often on 3995 kHz).

I noticed the short AM test mentioned by Carsten at around 21:46 UTC too.

While following the SNR display I found out that the SNR was slightly better when the signal of the neighboring channel (5990 - RTL) went down.
That behavior was caused by my receiver, which was evident when the transmission from Sines was switched off: As you can see from the attached spectrum analyser screenshot, the signal level of the adjacent channel suddenly increased about 10 dB.
I've never seen that kind of overload reaction when the neighboring signal was in AM mode. (Of course I can reduce that behavior by simply turning down the receiver's MGC.)
