15275 KHz HCJB to Europe test

Hi all,

Starting on Nov 2, 2007, HCJB will move their current DRM transmission to 1100 UTC and use the frequency 15275 KHz. The transmission will be until 1200 UTC. Our test to Europe at 0500 UTC has been fairly successful however the propagation window is failing on us. So we hope that this frequency and time will work better through the winter months of this year.

Thank you and we hope to get some good reception reports form you..

Hi all!

New frequency works and I get audio!

But I ave some Image-Problems with my Elektor 2003 RX. Lets wait and see how reception develops over the time of transmission.

I had to work with an auto-log and of course it went wrong!

1. Dream crashed when I was not at home
2. DRMSWR Log recorded just some audio. 9 % CDA.

Will try again tomorrow again.

Of course "Sines" is wrong.

Well, a rather weak signal at my place, unfortunately. Plus "friendly" AM splatter from Romania on 15.255 MHz (French language, saturated modulation, or something wrong with that TX anyway). Then 10 minutes before the end of HCJB there was a mysterious carrier blubbering on 15275, which ruined everything completely.

Ok, here's my first result:

First: I have had the mysterious carrier blubbering on 15275, too. But it went into my reception from 11.40 UTC till the end and blocked any reception on my elektor '03.

But- strange - it seems not to have any effect on the reception of the Himalaya2009 which went on decoding (but only outside the house and it was raining ).

So my thought was a problem with image reception at my elector. But if others got the QRM, too...?!

Anyway: 83.65% correct decoded audio from 11.00 - 11.40 UTC. It looks like reception gets stronger the second half hour?! (Btw: Most of the bigger dropouts where caused by me trying to get the best out of my RX)

Hi,

Not a good result at my location. No AM interference, just a weak signal.
Time: 11:26 - 11:49 UTC, which gave a total of 13 % CDA.
The audio suffered from a "bubbling" sound?

Hello,

weak signal at the beginning - nearly nothing with my omnidirectional antennas but good with my 3 element Ham Yagi towards Quito.

Very good reception after a very weak signal at the beginning. Good audio quality. Absolute clear frequency. Not an audible dropout after 11:08 UTC. I think that are very good results for just 4 kW over this long distance.

Unhappy 2% CDA

DREAM crashed several times so I had to use the DRMSWR.

No AM interference, the analog station on 15270 was off at 10.59.
But the signal was very weak and I got just some audio, 1.98% CDA.

Even no text message decoded....

I don't know whether it was propagation or just that my antenna does not work very well on 15 MHz

Hi all,

Just to confirm that we did not have our DRM transmitter on the air on the 6th. Sorry we missed that. We have to start that transmitter manually and we had our operator out helping prepare for some antenna repairs that day. We will do better in the future...

Thanks,

Doug

Hi all!

Here's my report for today. Not bad with 99.13% correct decoded audio and an average SNR of 16.89 dB.

There was some local broadband QRM at the receiver location in Ostfriesland which caused the majority of the dropouts.

And in addition to that I still have some problems with image reception on this single heterodyne elektor but i hope I can solve them in a few days.

Stephan
