Poor propagation towards the end and I'm sure the usual QRM suspects as well got me last night: 57.69%.

Fritz - Oddly last night was my best log for 9870 in a very long time. Only the scheduled shift in transmission heading at 1100 caused any size of blip.

99.68%

Brendan,
this is not a random thing!
If you look at this thread every time you get good reception mine is bad and vice versa!
I still do not understand why.
Propagation via North America would be the long path for me.
I tested with the other inv.L antenna, but reception here is definetively via short path.
Any idea?

I agree, Fritz, it isn't random. What could be happening is that you are receiving RNZI via the E or F layers, and I'm getting it down on the C & D layers. Also, given how solar propagation has been changing lately, it could be affecting how well those layers are reflecting (or not).

Most likely several things at once: the seasonal shift towards longer days in the northern hemisphere, accelerating solar activity, the ionosphere behaving as it has not in years. I'm popping in and out of reception here all the time, especially when you compare me to Zyg's logs. For RCI, he can be excellent and I get nearly nothing - which has often been the case lately.

I think RNZI is one of the hardest for most people to get easily: they are a long way from almost every DRM logger. I just happen to be close to their target area and usually within the beam. Zyg is something 1500km further east than I am, and only occasionally has he received them better than I. It's "real" DX!

No monitoring today, so no log, sorry.

Too bad Fritz! It would be nice to figure out the cause.

I was fairly good up until 1013 or so when it began to go downhill: 81.97%.

Zyg, unfortunately no time today, urgent work pending:
9 hours on the road plus 3 hours to recalibrate and qualify an argon plasma generator after replacing a 3CX1500D3 and some capacitors.
I do not even have a harddisk in my mobile pappradio notebook now as the QRL databases are transfered into a new laptop pc, so also no DRM car radio now.
Get my new notebook and the old harddisk back tomorrow, so the DRM car radio will be active again next week.
Hope to log RNZI with my Perseus at home again tomorrow.
