Babcock DRM 9760 kHz from Woofferton

With the start of B14, I thought it was a good idea to start a new thread rather than continue with the old thread title of '9850, 9770,9760,9750, 9660 kHz Babcock/VT Digital/ Radio Prague Rampisham/ Woofferton'

This is the first time I have received the NHK transmission.

Sorry I did not make a note of the solar indices.
200 km MUF: 11.7 MHz @ 11:00, 12.0 MHz @ 12:00 UTC.

8 Nov 2014 : KBS World via Babcock from Woofferton 9760 kHz

Like Mike I found today's transmission poor with only 77% decoded audio.

I forgot to put my DR111 into expert mode, so at the beginning of the transmission my DR111 kept on seeking 6135 & 7265 kHz as alternative frequencies!

Planetary A-index 12. Solar flux 146. Sunspot number: 96.

Hi,

Well, my first try with DRM for a couple of months, was not too good.
At first I had to find the DRM schedule, so that I could update the DRMDISC and start looking for the first signal.
Finally at 11:00 UTC I started 'listening' to this station identifying with the strange name "Babcock".
In total just 8% CDA, so I'll guess I stick to my Sonos Play:1.

Who is Babcock?

Hi Per,

Babcock, or more correctly Babcock International PLC, merged with VT Group PLC in March 2010. VT Communications was a part of VT Group. VT Communications was the company formed from the privatisation of the BBC World Service transmitter sites. It was initially named Merlin Communications, then, after acquisition by VT, VT Merlin Communications

'VT' was an abbreviation of Vosper Thorneycroft, and PLC is an abbreviation of Public Limited Company.

Very odd today. Checked the spectrum in case there was interference but conditions were fine.
