SDC problems

Hello to all,

Today good results with 20,96kbps parametric stereo stream and 17,46kbps mono. But with the 20,96kbps stream there is :
- a problem in SDC decoding (yellow mark using DReaM),
- no associated text decoding.

Many dropouts this morning, but very good SNR, up to 28dB.

Software Updates

Hi,

we finally managed to finish the software updates today although a few adjustements have to be done in the next days (such as analzing the SDC CRC / AFC problem which however does not occur on earlier DREAM versions).

Regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,
thatīs normal as this feature was only implemented not too long ago (last May or so?), but the yellow SDC indicator means the CRC is OK, but there is incorrect data in the SDC.

New information text

Hello to all,

Good results today in stereo, but only with the laptop running on batteries only. After 1500 UT I listened again, there was the 17,46kbps mono stream again. But there was a new feed of the lastest headlines as attached text. 20 seconds for each of the 10 headlines repeatedly (cf. screen capture). Signal was very stable with 25dB SNR until 1530 UT.

Hello to all,

Perfect tonight during 'Studio 22' pop show, with guest singer Cali and also Dionysos. And worth listening with the 17kbps stream, thanks to BCE team ! (as the german service was already running 14kbps only at this time)

News headlines text was updated, with station's tips about the news programmes aired live from the Agriculture Showcase.

'Sunset' effect after the 7pm news.

An above average reception here today and very few drop-outs.
Signal breakdown after 17:43 UTC (3/4 hrs. after local sunset).

Sorry I didn't cross-check with 6095 kHz (the SNR of which is normally higher), and yes, the yellow SDC lamp is still on.

Apart from the several interferences I got a rather very good result for a while.

Ok, so there has been work in progress at Junglinster, but why have I been hearing a (400ms?) echo, intermittently for the past few days? I don't understand how it could be a fault at the receiver end. I attach a screenshot, and a zipped mp3

AND another thing - is it really a good idea to have _every_ post concerning RTL 5990 under the sole rubric "RTL 5990 kHz"? Surely, there should be a FORUM under this heading, not a thread - or should we perhaps do away with all separate threads, and just post everything under "DRM" 8-[

RTL 5990 was fine this morning, now it's echoing again (14:00utc) - is it just me, or do others hear this? - I've never heard this on any other DRM tx

Where is the problem? There are a lot of other DRM transmissions apart from this one. If we were to establish a forum for each one of them, this whole website would look rather chaotic. The way it is, every interested party can find the information at a single place and this is sufficient.

Hello to all,

Extremely good results today with the stereo stream. (At the end of the log, a tentative of plugging again the laptop to the AC power, reducing SNR up to 8 dB).

That's what I said, last week. Glad I'm not the only one, though I didn't hear any echo today.

Audio-format attachments are not permitted, which is why I zipped my mp3 file
