20 june - afternoon

Hello to all,

Extremely bad when the computer is plugged to AC power. Good reception with the computer unplugged from AC power : 20 dB SNR and 93% audio. Good compared to the excellent results given by the older IFA transmissions on a directionnal antenna. Audio with 15 to 18 kbps would be excellent I think.

Hi All!

Thanks for reports on TDF 6175 kHz transmission ending today.

BTW, listen to 17870 kHz (former 17875 kz) DRM signal from Montsinery to Europe.

Regards.

This morning not TDF at Issoundun (centre of France) but RMC at Monaco (at the South of France).

Hi, Jacques and all,

Something going on on 6175 kHz now at 13:10 UTC. Radio Inside 99.8 just now playing nonstop music in DRM "INSIDE la radio des pyrénées 99.8FM - HIT'MIX & NEWS".

The hour before I could not clearly make out - was it Radio Montajou?

Due to something the fun radio ended just now at just after 13:15 UTC.

Here is the corresponding log. I don't know what happened in the segment 13:15 - 14:00 UTC; the label kept changing between "TDF Issoudun" and "TDF 6.175" and - well, look at the log! The log stopped early. Ooops, someone pulled the plug to the PC on me ! But later on an AM Station made reception almost impossible anyway.

I noticed "Radio Montajou" (?) from the start, "Radio Inside" from about 13:10 UTC and "Magic FM" around 14 UTC.

Hi Jacques,
hi all,

in attachment two logs for the Test-transmission today:
1) DReaM 1.64 one hour perfect reception.
Around 1300 UTC i stop the log for 15 Minutes .
2) DReaM 1.10.4 . Unfortunately after log start 1315 UTC "tx- or other " problemes apear. Later again a perfect result !The IR was longer as designed for mode B and without a "high" first peak.

Hi all,

It is quite normal that you received two pulses from the impluse response because of propagation (two different reflecting zones or layers in the ionosphere) but I can not believe that you can receive two different transmissions on the same frequency, it should do only QRM just like when we unfortunately transmitted on 6015 kHz the same programme (MDI stream) with two different non-synchronised transmitters. Or it would need to have one transmiter much stronger than the other (co-channel protection ratio satisfied).

Regards.

Jacques

Salut Jacques,
pretty good results during the whole transmission, except a short lunch break
Last hour I did a comparison with the Winradio, also typical example of the IR atttached, some multipath propagation, but not causing problems.

Salut Simone,

It is amazing to have such a good reception near Frankfurt as we are transmitting at 210° with a 2/2 antenna!

I guess the back lobe (-20 dB?) has a good take-off (high angle) to Germany.

Regards.

Jacques

Of course you are right that you can not receive two transmissions at the same time on the same frequency, but on some MF transmissions (1485, 693 kHz) I often have conditions that the decoder toggles between two stations, depends on propagation which one it would synchronize on, or I can select it by turning the antenna, the other station would then always act as an interferer.

Salut Jacques,

i start the log today 1053 UTC unattended.
Very good result for "transmitting at 210° with a 2/2 antenna" here in south-east Germany. My location is 79° from tx-side. For this my comment yesterday to a longer IR. Sorry for any misunderstanding !

Hello to all,

Back after a long busy time with both computer and brain breakdown (I just went mad with my work schedule, hehe). DRM reception works again with the DWT and Dream 1.10.4 on my computer, but everything is still running on an emergency basis. I finally have holiday to make my computer working properly.

Reception of RFI is surprisingly very good here, almost the same than in Frankfurt. Until 13:20 the computer was unplugged from AC power, then it lost 3dB SNR when it was plugged. After 16:45, again unplugged, that explains the near 30 dB and perfect reception.

I can't remember the name of the stations by heart, just fun to get a local southwestern station on DRM, glad to have special announcements from the local morning DJ. And also fun to have in the same hour a Hitparade of the last dance music mixes and also programmes from christian station RCF. :-)

Regards,

Stephane Veron
