24 Sep log

This time no mistake: a short log from this morning. Looks to be fairly mediocre. 17 megs is simply too high for good propagation out this far, but that's only my opinion and 2 cents worth.

Dear All!

I am sorry to inform you that as of today 26 September 2007, TDF will stop DRM transmission 1300-2000 UTC currently on 17875 kHz.

Thanks for all who sent reports. I will keep you informed in case of restart.

Regards.

Thanks!

Jacques et al:

Thanks for the broadcast! I appreciate having had the opportunity to log data for you and TDF over the months past, and look forward to any new frequencies and times.

Hi Brendan and all!

In fact TDF is still transmitting...!!! We had problems with air-conditioning system in MSY but it is OK now so we transmitted yesterday and we are also today but not during week-end as usual.

Starting from 1st october, we will use another antenna (2/3 at 295) to Mexico and Southern part of the USA (I am afraid not very good for you, Brendan) as our Toucan 1 rotatable antenna needs some re-painting. Latter in October, we will transmit to Brazil at 155.

Anyone could relay this on DRMNA?

Regards.

Jacques

Will relay this to the DRMNA group, Jacques. Thanks for the notice that it was temporary - I thought it was permanent! The new antenna may not have that much of an effect, and may in fact be better for me. I'll be sure to check the new pattern!

Is there anything in the works for the winter season to go to a lower frequency?

28 Sep log

Here's a short log for MSY! The frequency listing has disappeared off the update list in Dream, that has a little bit with why I thought it was gone forever... It actually was getting much better towards the end.

Propagation is still very poor here, and the log shows it.

17 megs is just not cutting it any more - at least as far as I'm concerned. Propagation is simply not steady enough, and today's log shows little to no improvement over the last few logs.

Jacques: I had managed to forget that MSY was now transmitting on a new bearing to Mexico, and not to the north and west as previously done. Just to let you know, that there is a definite weak trace visible on the Dream waterfall, but not enough to even copy any of the SDC or FAC data. Nice antenna system!

If in doubt, just log it earlier! Here's a log for this morning (my time), and this is several hours earlier than I usually even look for MSY's signal. Just goes to show that they're still getting this far north and off-beam. Did the transmitter go off at 1800Z?

I started too late and then DREAM crashed.
The system clock was several minutes ahead.

16 Oct log

A couple of logs from this morning. I'd rather have one log but necessity dictated that I needed to reboot about mid-morning. Definite signs of improvement on 17 megs.

Mostly propagational variance in the log. I am off the beam, so any little bit of reception I'll count as good.
