I wondered where it had gone to, thankfully I'm hearing it again on the new frequency, or rather was, as it seems to have vanished again at the moment (1455 UTC), but I'll keep monitoring in case it's just a temporary loss. :-)

The operator of Slow Scan Radio, the weekly datamode programme from the Netherlands which usually goes out on Channel 292 on Saturdays, will also be on 13755 kHz as well on Fridays just before Shortwave Radiogram from Friday 1st of March.

If anyone has been decoding Radiogram you might look out for this one as well, though please note that as well as modes like MFSK and PSK which can be decoded by Fldigi, many of the items sent in SSR are Slow Scan TV images, so you'll need a program like MMSSTV or RXSSTV for these as well.

I was hearing the WINB 13755 kHz DRM signal a little while ago, at 1445 UTC Friday 8 Mar 2019. I got nowhere near 100% audio and it's just as well since it is the fax-machine sounds being broadcast, presumably the "Slow Scan Radio" mentioned above. (Uhh, not that I am a fan of the ordinary broadcasts of WINB. . .)

I can't imagine DRM being any good for this sort of double-digital thing since the bits and pieces that come through the audio decoding would not have much potential for being decoded visually or textually. At close distance, the use of DRM for double-digital may be very good, better than AM, perhaps, since all visual noise should be eliminated. But I am about 1500 km away and at medium distances like that there is drop-out in the first-order digital signal (the DRM audio), so I imagine the losses are always pretty high for the second-order digital stuff. AM would do a better job.

Before 1445 I was receiving about 15% audio. In the fifteen minutes since 1445, reception has dropped considerably, with zero decoding and MER rates of 0 to 5 dB.

I am in downtown St. John's, Newfoundland. I'm using both my MR27024 + 8m wire outside and my Avion DR1401 + Sony AN-LP1 indoor loop aimed SW.

Right... WINB really should abandon this approach and switch to 16 QAM modulation if they want maximum coverage and reliability for their relatively low power digital broadcast. The DRM standard has enough flexibility to accommodate broadcasters without complicating it further even if it doesn't suit WINB's perceived requirements.

I've seen too many broadcasters not very well adhere to the DRM technical standard if at all. From what I'v gathered from monitor site, their SNR/Field strength ratio is way off the mark (e.g. saturated at very low level, and RRI is another worst offender at that). I wonder if this is due to their excitation type on the Tx signal chain or simply lack of maintenance all together:confused: . Provided with proper tuning, the SNR from their strong signal could well exceed 30dB in stead of the poor 16-19dB mark.

Amazingly strong winds all day, same system was over Arizona a few days ago... one of the strongest low pressure areas in over a decade... Emergency vehicles running constantly all day so watch out if you live east of the Mississippi River in the USA.
