A 5 hour long log from Sunday morning around 9 UTC. Around 1230 UTC I noticed some decoding problems. The S-Meter needle suddenly decreased and increased 6-8 dB, hopping up and down at irregular intervals. After 13 UTC the problem seems to be gone. The rest of the log was unattended.

Problem in the beginning with DW on 6075 kHz. Sometimes Ismaning was less than 20 dB above the intermodulation of DW on 6075 kHz. At the end I had problems with electric hv fences driving in the midddle of nowhere. :rolleyes:

After seeing the news about the 259 car crash and 66 injured in Germany on the TV morning news, I'm really looking forward to travel by car to Sweden next month... :rolleyes:

But the reception of BR5 was perfect without any crashes for almost 4 hours today.

As i did not manage to receive B5-aktuell (my everyday station on analog mode),
I asked the technical support of the BR and got a kind reply:
"...
In der Tat ist der Empfang der DRM-Bodenwelle des BR auf 6085 kHz sehr schwierig,
da die Ausprägung bei der großen Wellenlänge nicht so stark ist.
In Korsika dürfte dies wohl funktionieren allerdings nur mit einer Zusatzantenne von
ca. 10 m Länge. Beachten Sie bitte, dass unser Signal nur mit geringer Leistung (50
kW) erzeugt wird. Der Umbau des alten Senders bringt auch einige Nachteile wie
Resträger usw. mit sich. Trotzdem wird unser Signal bereits in ganz Europa empfangen
- mal besser, mal schlechter.

Hi,

An early morning try of the "test transmission" from BR? :confused:
My first log of this station was 050815, i.e. 4 years ago and still the text msg concludes: "Sie hoeren eine DRM-Testsendung des Bayerischen Rundfunks".
Anyway, my listening was 04:09-04:44 which gave a poor CDA of 30%.

And I had good results with my Morphy R. mainly during lunch-time and early evening. I was very happy!
Beside BBC-DW and Voice of Russia during night it was the ONLY DRM-Transmission I got. Just "my" B5!

The distance between RTL and BR-B5 and Stockholm are both more or less 1300 km. I just switched over from RTL to BR-B5, and this TX is impossible to decode. RTL transmits in direction 60° and BR-B5 uses an omni-directional antenna. Most certainly this is the reason for the worse reception of 6085 kHz here. On top of this there seems to be some co-channel QRM which certainly not favours the reception either.

Sometimes very strong at noon. I saw -16 dBm at 50 Ohm and was using no matching, only a 4:1 balun at the antenna, and additionally a preselector with two capacitively coupled resonant circuits without compensating amplifier. :eek:

Well, I heard about signs that Bayrischer Rundfunk registred the frequency 6085 kHz again for upcoming broadcasting period, while others have spoken to staff of the Ismaning station which is prepared for the switch-off in October... :confused:

I agree with you, Fritz, a reliable signal also here in the very North of Germany.

Today was terrible!
Last day of the BR B5 aktuell DRM shortwave transmission.
Good reception all day long until 19:20 UTC.

The BR CEO's salary was 310,000 Euro last year,
and there will be several others not far from that.
As a public broadcaster they spend a lot of money for any rubbish to get tv quotes against the commercial competitors instead of pushing innovation and quality with their station.
Bye bye BR, you've lost at least one regular listener.

Well, Fritz, you are 530 km away from the TX, I'm only 290, that might be the trick.

Anyway, this evening did not make any difference, so it is bye-bye from me too (so they lost two listeners - at least).

This QRG worked well in Switzerland during the day at least during the Summer days.
