I cannot confirm that.
On mediumwave at my distance RTL is not worth listening to in AM in the afternoon because of deep selective fading while this does not substantially harm DRM reception.
Most radios do not yet have a synchron AM detector.

Now RTL is back in DRM on mediumwave! :D
Low SNR and a few dropouts but in all much better audio quality and listening! :)

Listening to RTL when working in my home office today.
Some resyncs and sometime low SNR for 24kbps.
They switched down to 18.4kbps with lower audio quality at 14:00 UTC.
I switched from horizontal to vertical antenna polarisation at ~10:20 UTC.
In all a good listening experience.

At 08:00 UTC RTL increased bitrate to 23.62kbps mode A, and at 09:20 UTC my neighbour switched on his electric fence severely reducing the snr. Testing with vertical antenna did not help.

Bitrate was decreased to 18.4 kbps at 14:00 UTC, signal was also a little weaker then:

Looks like the propagation would allow better SNR than the TX actually transmits:

RTL is strong on mediumwave and I think they would appreciate reports.
