View Full Version : DLF Putbus on 0729 kHz
Hi all,
excellent reception of the 1 kW DLF transmitter in Putbus on the island of Ruegen this afternoon. Distance is 450 km.
See screenshot.

Hi,
Not so brilliant at my location. But 619 km with 1 kW - what to expect?
Time: 19:28 - 19:56 UTC.
Hi,
The label of this transmission is DeutschlandRadio. Hence it should be DLR?

Perhaps I was a little late this morning, will try again.

Too much a.m. interference on the wire, will try the loop next days.
Hi,
I am receiving Putbus with some 15 dB today. It says 23.5 kb/s parametric stereo. The sound is VERY bad. An analog phone line is much better.
What's wrong?
Regards,
Edgar

No audio, probably I was too late (...again)
Our local broadcaster WDR on 720kHz is interfering.

This time with audio! :D
Hi all
Putbus 729 kHz reception was fine for a long time, but throughout the last months it became poor. The spectrum is not too bad, but rarely I get some demodulation.
I did not change anything, so what has happened ???

Haven't seen that for a long time.
Hi
Last Saturday I put up another antenna. What a difference now. DLF Putbus is now over 20dB S/N for most of the daylight time.
Last week I tried some mobile reception driving along the east coast of Schleswig-Holstein. I used a 1,2m Whip with magnetic base on the car, homemade impedance converter and the TenTec 320D. Close to the water reception of DLF Putbus is possible on many occasions.
At home I have some problems with my computer monitor which has a spurious emission right at 729 kHz. Using the notebook eliminates the problem.

For just a few seconds I got him!
Poor little Tx, broadcasting in supposedly high audio quality (see the bitrate, where DW is dreaming of!) all the day. But nobody, except some hardcore DRM-DXers ever listens. Or did they expect all the visitors coming to the island of Ruegen bring a Mayah portable receiver with them ;-)) ???

Hi,
I can rather frequently pick up DLF on this frequency. Not always with audio, but at least today the sound quality was good.
Hi Per and all!
It's just a question of my location. When at home I can hear much noise and some interfering stations in AM mode. Maybe these are even the low power transmitters of Bayerischer Rundfunk on 729 kHz (?).
So two days ago I made a DXpedition to a "silent" spot on the seaside. From somewhat north of Luebeck (and roughly at 130 km distance from the Tx - the signal path beeing most part over the sea) my portable Mayah receiver was able to decode some data, but only very short bits of audio. Time was around 13:00 UTC.
Unfortunately this receiver is plagued with faulty contacts, the power line plug loses contact on the slightest movement, what means when you have just found the right position, reception is suddenly interrupted. So I decided not to have this frustrating experience for more than 10 minutes!
I guess with a stationary receiver and a good loop antenna you could get audio from this location also during daytime.

Hi,
Tonight I notice a second service of DLF. 'wir uber uns' HVXC 8 kHz @ 5.42 kbps.
Question:What's this?
@ Andreas, I'm some 600 km from Putbus, so I think that it's a question of interference. I can see on the spectrum that there is an AM-station, but it doesn't interfere.

Hi Per,
HVXC = Harmonic Vector eXcitation Coding = Ultra low bitrate speech coding

If I minimze reception of our local broadcaster WDR on 720kHz with the loop I can see Putbus sometimes:

My loop does not have enough minima for all the interference on and adjacent to this channel. :(
Hi,
"Im Drm-Format über Putbus 729 kHz und Berlin 855 kHz".
Here is my result of the 5.42 kbps Wir ueber uns service. It sounded better than it looks.
@ Fritz, thanks for the info.

A little difficult to receive here with local WDR on 720kHz only 65km away, but even some audio at the dutch border:

Well....not much tonight... :o
Hi,
I notice that the service label of this transmission on 729 kHz has changed to DKULTUR. 855 kHz is still DLF and also at a lower bitrate.
The two other services, are identical to 855 kHz.
(Wow! My first post!)
I can't receive Putbus 729 kHz, which should broadcast DKULTUR. Some weeks ago I got a great signal, but today...
I asked Bernd Förster (Transmission manager at DRADIO) but he said everythig should be OK.
Greetings! ;)
edit: New thread merged with the already existing one, Simone
Today good reception, 20dB.
DKULTUR main channel, "Wir über uns" ("About us") and Journaline-Service which includes many articles!
Happy Listening!
Hi all.
My first log from this MW freq. very short log .My antenna is bad for so low freq. And signal move not S meter Hi. QSB go down under niose level .
:)

Hi
My first try with this local transmitter. Good for a few minutes around local sunset, lower SNR after that.
TobbeR
Tried the DKULTUR one more time, very impressive audio. Not very far from my locaton but 1 kW is not much.
TobbeR
No high SNR but 100% CDA.
Check out the Journaline channel! Looks like they're updating the news daily now. :)
A new service on 729 kHz, see attachment.
Perfect results and perfect program. DKULTUR worth listening to.
Many articles in the Journaline channel but the 'Tagestipp' (today's advice) has no data.
I would like to see the news loop from Oranienburg 177 on this transmitter too instead of the 'wir über uns' (about us) HVXC-channel.
A short log, but a good log.
One hour, one word: Perfect.
Just noticed they added a MOT SlideShow to the first service running at 3.84 kbps. Unfortunatly, I have some strange interruptions on this frequency today, so I am not able to post any image samples.
They have added the MOT service since Oct 2nd (also on DLF), it contains news headlines, here is an example.
Simone
Okay, so that's the Slideshow which is running via their DAB channels aswell.
Putbus will be in DRM until December, 31st 2009 only. 729 kHz is expected to be silent in 2010.
