biteXpress 15896 kHz

Hi,

The 15-16 MHz is ideal for DRM transmissions from central and southern Europe to be received at my location right now.
I managed to receive the 100 W Tx in Erlangen Germany tonight. There was two sets of different labels: 'audio service' , 'bit eXpress' , and also bit eXpress News.
No audio, just 6 dB SNR.

Just noticed yesterday that bit eXpress 15896 kHz was strong enough to decode here in Helsinki. Maximum SNR was 24 dB for a short time. The audio quality was high and all channels available.

1. bit eXpress AAC(24 kHz)+SBR P-Stereo (27.28 kbps)
2. bit eXpress News AAC(24kHz)+SBR P-Stereo (27.28 kbps)
3. bit visuAlity Data Services: MOT Slideshow (4.08 kbps)
4. Journaline Data Service: News Service Journaline (4.08 kbps)

Channels 1 and 2 was sending the same program.

DRM has really many extra values referring AM-broadcasts. Reading news and looking pictures while listening music is fine.

I did not expect to receive this small powered Tx and out of the target area. But I did, of course with a lot of dropouts, but when the audio was on, the stereo sound was very pleasant. I think that the 19 meter band is favour to DRM TXs. Look at the log.

some Dream1.12 QT2 MSVC6 compiles do have a problem with the EPG, will be fixed in the next release, QT3 versions are fine.

A nice treat this morning. It seems like the Sporadic E seen over Rome moved north which made this log possible. The SNR peaked at 31.1 dB. The log is 105 minutes long.

Again, a good portion of biteXpress this morning. The Es weakened considerably around 9 UTC, but I got a 52 minutes rather good log. The SNR peaked above 30 dB.

When in Stockholm, it is always fun to observe the propagation from this TX. There is rarely a day when it is not visible! In Switzerland reception or logging (whatever the result might be) is very rare.

I've noticed traces of DRM on 15896 kHz for the last few days here in New Zealand, but only for a fleeting few minutes - I guess it is some greyline effect at NZ sunset & German sunrise.

Today the signal peaked up enough for me to get the id decoded, but, if you look at the log, this peak was so short you could blink & miss it!

Still, it's a good DX catch for me.
