A very good afternoon here. Overall, signal levels are getting better.

Terje, I think your problem is local, as my log shows nothing "off" here during the 2000-2030 period. I'm attaching a shorter log graph showing that period. I have to say I do like the zoom feature you have included!

26-09-2008, 21:46
Hi Brendan and all,

Well, if not local, it's Russia. -5 kc with a strong AM signal. Tuned up 1 kHz to try to get rid of it, but here you are.... 61% or so CDA.

Sixten
26-09-2008, 21:52
Hi all.

Her is my log CDA of 15,55% ok !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stromg AM from start on 9800 S9+20db after 2000 only AM on 9795 :::::::eek:

Digger
26-09-2008, 22:46
Now, around 2145 UT the propagation is deteriorating, and I need to call it a day... The overall CDA ended around 88%. :) The max. SNR, 33.65 dB, was logged at 2125 UTC.

Brendan1
27-09-2008, 17:34
Hi Terje, it all depends on what you consider "local." The closest point of the Russian Republic for me is 3300 km away, you are 8300 km away from the western US where I live!

The Chinese can be pretty bad here at different times and frequencies, so they take the place of your inconsiderate Russians...

Hi Brendan an all,

Hi-hi, yeah, but you see the point.
Last night I tuned my RX up 1 kc, and the result for CVC improved a bit.

By the way, I found a nice picture of the Sackville TX in Panoramio:

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/13151301

Brendan1
28-09-2008, 16:45
That's a nice picture of Sackville. On my side of the continent, they suffer from some interference from China, right on frequency from about 1500 to 1600. Some days it can absolutely kill the CBC, other days (like today) it's not even an issue. Of course, it doesn't help that I am not in the beam either, they aim rather to the south of me.

Another good afternoon's log, the morning wasn't so good. :o

Brendan1
29-09-2008, 16:34
The afternoon was very solid, and the morning shows definite signs of improvement. The worst period shown on the graph (1900-2050) is mid-day here, and that does not surprise me in the least.

Brendan1
30-09-2008, 18:39
Still quite unsteady during the morning hours here, but the afternoon is plenty good.

Brendan1
01-10-2008, 16:21
Boy, mid-day yesterday was really dead.

Brendan1
02-10-2008, 06:24
The best log, bar none, for CBC for several months. Very good, strong signal levels for most of the day.

Brendan1
03-10-2008, 16:47
Not quite as good as yesterday, but decent levels just the same.

Brendan1
04-10-2008, 17:09
A good, not great, log from yesterday.

Brendan1
06-10-2008, 16:30
A little short on the log: due to a windstorm, my antenna blew over and I didn't get it fixed up until yesterday. The last hour should have been better, but with the antenna not oriented anywhere near optimum, I got the results I did. :( All is better now...

mitajohn
06-10-2008, 23:34
Hi all,

A 34 mins result until QRM started. The deeps caused by some wide band instantaneous QRM as seen in the plot.

Brendan1
07-10-2008, 16:45
Not too bad, a little sparse in the morning hours for signal strength.

John, I think you've got some OTH radar there on the waveform screenshot. I'd hazard a guess that it's closer to you than to me.

mitajohn
07-10-2008, 17:51
John, I think you've got some OTH radar there on the waveform screenshot.

Brendan, May be, I have noticed it in the 9 MHz band.

Brendan1
08-10-2008, 16:45
Low signal strength in the morning again, but nice and high in the afternoon.

Brendan1
09-10-2008, 16:41
A very nice log for CBC yesterday, good signal strength all day.

Brendan1
10-10-2008, 16:51
Even better yesterday.

Brendan1
11-10-2008, 16:44
Another good day for Sackville. :)

EXCEPT for 1645 to 1755: the media server looked to be stuck, as only the FAC was active and both SDC and MSC were "stuck.'

Brendan1
12-10-2008, 16:54
The "operator" messed up and the log didn't record for the 11th. :(

However, all that lovely solar activity didn't help any so the results were less than spectacular anyway.

Brendan1
13-10-2008, 02:24
Two parts today because Dream crashed on me and I wasn't here to get it reset quickly. An off day as the results of yesterday's solar storms are still with me.

Brendan1
14-10-2008, 06:21
Not a very good log today: a lot of quite dramatic shifts in signal strength.

Brendan1
15-10-2008, 16:16
Somewhat better yesterday, although propagation is 'off' still when compared to last week.

Brendan1
16-10-2008, 16:40
A two-part log, I had to shut down for a PC update mid-day. Not bad reception, the afternoon looks especially good.

Brendan1
17-10-2008, 16:58
A pretty good day for logging.

Brendan1
18-10-2008, 17:07
An excellent log yesterday - lots of good RF coming my way right now.

Brendan1
19-10-2008, 17:44
Better and better!

Brendan1
20-10-2008, 06:20
Somewhat 'lesser' conditions: not quite as good as yesterday but on the whole pretty good.

Brendan1
21-10-2008, 17:28
Same as before: not perfect, but pretty good I'd say. :)

Brendan1
22-10-2008, 18:04
Another good day here.

Brendan1
24-10-2008, 21:44
Sorry, got busy. Here's the last two days logs. Good conditions here.

Brendan1
25-10-2008, 18:15
I seem to be hitting a peak in good propagation right now. Excellent log.

Brendan1
26-10-2008, 16:09
A more variable signal in the morning hours, but the afternoon remained excellent.

Brendan1
27-10-2008, 15:26
Quite possibly my best log at the current QTH for CBC ever. As of this weekend they have also moved their broadcast time back one hour on the tail end, ending the 9800 frequency at 2300 instead of 0000. There are also fewer off-air periods as well. As a result, TDP on 9790 is now one hour earlier, and coming much better as a result (also on the forum).

Brendan1
28-10-2008, 02:24
The excellent conditions are continuing: another great log.

mitajohn
28-10-2008, 23:03
Hi all,

Some problems but with period of good results.

Brendan1
29-10-2008, 02:40
I would have had a nice log to show tonight but for the fact that somehow my logger was not logging... :(

Good conditions all day, good signal strength (I was able to see the receiver), but without a log to show it becomes only anecdotal.

Brendan1
30-10-2008, 02:39
Okay, I have a log today, and it was quite good.

Brendan1
31-10-2008, 16:54
Not so good during the later morning hours. The K index was up to 3 yesterday for quite a bit of the time, and this may have been the reason for the change in band conditions.

Brendan1
01-11-2008, 16:04
A great log yesterday, nice and stable for most of the day.

Brendan1
03-11-2008, 16:58
Hmmm, I posted these two logs last night but they are not showing up today.

Pretty good logs, although yesterday morning (before 2000) was not so good.

Brendan1
04-11-2008, 00:22
A pretty good day, although it took a bit of a tumble just before mid-day (2000).

Brendan1
05-11-2008, 16:44
Not nearly perfect in the morning, some disturbance in the ionosphere can be seen. Good afternoon though.

Brendan1
06-11-2008, 17:03
I should slap myself for yesterday's grammar: "not nearly perfect?" How about simply 'not perfect' instead? Sheesh.

Speaking of which, yesterday's log was excellent! Conditions appear to be just about optimum right now.

Brendan1
07-11-2008, 16:52
A very nice log yesterday, excellent in fact.

Brendan1
08-11-2008, 03:24
Another excellent day! Great solar conditions.

Brendan1
09-11-2008, 02:28
A little drop after the start, but otherwise pretty dang good today. :)

mitajohn
09-11-2008, 17:04
Hi all,

Some audio from CBC.

Brendan1
09-11-2008, 23:39
Conditions are somewhat down compared to yesterday, and the signal strength didn't hold up.

Brendan1
11-11-2008, 00:13
The morning was much like yesterday with the SNR quite variable until mid-day.

Brendan1
12-11-2008, 06:32
A good day here.

FritzWue
12-11-2008, 17:13
Not bad until 17:00 UTC, then too much AM interference:

Brendan1
13-11-2008, 02:21
A pretty good day today.

Brendan1
14-11-2008, 06:43
A pretty good day once we got past the 1700-1800 slot: there are analog transmitters 10 kHz above and below the DRM signal, plus analog right on top the DRM center frequency. What fun!

Brendan1
15-11-2008, 00:48
My computer was misbehaving a little, so the log is split into two parts today. There was a third part, but it's the early hours when reception was not as good.

FritzWue
16-11-2008, 18:40
Blocked by AM interference:

Brendan1
17-11-2008, 02:16
Fritz, I have the same problem AM transmitters here during the same hour, I think they are Asian in origin, mostly Chinese. I am bracketed both up and down 10kHz, as well as the center frequency.

15th was not very good in the morning, today was better for the entire day.

Brendan1
18-11-2008, 02:15
For the first time in more than a few days, I have an excellent log to show.

Note that CBC is starting the day off at 20.88KBps; I've noticed that switch for the last two days at least, they may have been doing it for longer.

Brendan1
19-11-2008, 17:28
Excellent conditions yesterday, and the log shows it. Transmit speed is now back down to 17.16 at the start.

Brendan1
20-11-2008, 16:38
I asked my computer to do too much, and Dream crashed on me!

Quite good logs yesterday.

Brendan1
21-11-2008, 16:46
The good daytime conditions continue here.

Brendan1
22-11-2008, 16:47
Another great day.

Brendan1
23-11-2008, 02:20
Good propagation equals a good log.

Brendan1
24-11-2008, 16:40
CBC Sackville seems to have had some transmitter issues yesterday: only one brief period of DRM received all day, and TDP on 9790 at 2300 was also missing. Decidedly an 'off' day back there.

Brendan1
26-11-2008, 16:28
Early and mid-morning hours are showing a little trouble, but otherwise everything has been pretty good.

Digger
26-11-2008, 17:13
A taste of Canada... but very short-lived...

FritzWue
27-11-2008, 16:47
Not good today and the modulation was somehow a little distorted:

Brendan1
27-11-2008, 18:31
Pretty good yesterday, although there were some dropouts.

Brendan1
28-11-2008, 17:58
Not bad, although the band began to shut down early in the last hour.

Brendan1
29-11-2008, 18:05
Lower "A" index numbers are definitely hurting overall reception.

Alan Johnson
30-11-2008, 00:11
Not very good today.

Brendan1
30-11-2008, 02:42
Pretty disrupted today, although some clear periods did happen. :o

FritzWue
30-11-2008, 17:33
AM 5 kHz up:

Brendan1
01-12-2008, 02:40
Very good today, except for the band closing in the last hour.

Brendan1
02-12-2008, 17:17
The later afternoon hours are starting to get difficult, otherwise reception is quite good for the most part.

Brendan1
03-12-2008, 16:29
Much the same: good reception but the last hour tapers off badly.

Brendan1
04-12-2008, 17:18
Hmmm, the morning was rather disturbed yesterday, although there were good periods later.

Brendan1
05-12-2008, 17:08
Slow to start yesterday, but otherwise the day went well.

Brendan1
06-12-2008, 17:54
Highly variable conditions yesterday.

Brendan1
07-12-2008, 16:59
Wow, a lot of down time yesterday. The A index was quite high, I'm quite sure that's what hurt the log.

FritzWue
07-12-2008, 17:04
Cool "interview" with David Beckham! :D

Brendan1
08-12-2008, 16:48
Not all that great yesterday.

Brendan1
09-12-2008, 16:49
Extremely poor results yesterday.

Brendan1
10-12-2008, 16:40
Slight improvement yesterday, but only just. :(

Brendan1
11-12-2008, 17:07
Somewhat better reception yesterday, although the band shut down early.

Brendan1
12-12-2008, 21:26
My computer auto-updated (and THEN shutdown automatically!) so Dream was brought to a halt only a few hours into the day.

Brendan1
13-12-2008, 23:40
A very good log for the 12th! Good SNR virtually all day. :D

Nothing for today, the 13th: CBC Sackville has been off air all day. A huge ice storm hit the eastern US and Canada yesterday, and a lot of disruption to powerlines has occurred back there. Sackville might not have power in other words, or even antenna issues... :(

Brendan1
15-12-2008, 02:31
A power outage at Sackville requiring repair was confirmed to me privately by CBC personnel. No signals again today, the 14th. Here's hoping the repairs go quickly!

Brendan1
16-12-2008, 16:48
Sackville still off-air as of 1647 UTC today.

Brendan1
18-12-2008, 00:05
The Sack is back! Excellent log today, although conditions did take a little while to get started.

Brendan1
19-12-2008, 16:42
Pretty good yesterday, although both the beginning and the end were far from perfect. ;)

Digger
19-12-2008, 17:06
Hm, need to log a bit earlier, before the AM QRM -5 kHz starts...

Brendan1
20-12-2008, 17:02
Somewhat disturbed conditions yesterday, not a very even signal strength.

Brendan1
21-12-2008, 17:57
Much better than most days of late, but still somewhat poor towards the end.

Brendan1
22-12-2008, 23:37
Rather poor reception.

Brendan1
23-12-2008, 16:44
Not very stable conditions yesterday, and during the long period from 1635 to 1810 the content server was locked up: no audio at all as the MSC was not transmitting anything.

Brendan1
24-12-2008, 17:34
Better conditions yesterday, and no content server hangup! :)

A Merry Christmas to all!

Brendan1
25-12-2008, 18:31
Not the best day.

Merry Christmas! :D

Brendan1
26-12-2008, 16:43
Not all that good once again.

FritzWue
26-12-2008, 17:32
Here also not good today:

Brendan1
27-12-2008, 20:48
The very poor, very cyclic propagation conditions continued yesterday.

Brendan1
28-12-2008, 17:51
Propagation continues to be very cyclic, with the band changing quite a bit. :(

Alan Johnson
29-12-2008, 03:07
Had time to listen to "Maple Leaf Mailbag" today. Pretty good.

Brendan1
29-12-2008, 16:56
Well, the only period that was useful for me was about an hour early than Alan's excellent period.

Brendan1
30-12-2008, 16:47
It was a really good day yesterday - the SNR was quite good all day.

Brendan1
31-12-2008, 16:54
Another excellent day, although the dropping SNR towards the end never bodes well for TDP on 9790 at 0000.

My last log for a few days. I'll be in Chicago for a few weeks, and hope to log from there for the duration once I'm settled in.

Happy New Year! Frohes Neues Jahr! Bonne Année! :D

FritzWue
03-01-2009, 17:17
It's all just a matter of interference, 99.7% CDA for 28 minutes:

Brendan1
09-01-2009, 00:44
Well, I'm now located in the city center of the city of Chicago. Sooooo, that means signal levels are not all that high. My antenna is not placed very well, but I'm going to try and make it a little better.

This is the results of today's efforts.

Brendan1
10-01-2009, 02:42
An all-day log this time. A slow start here, and the afternoon/early evening saw it fading quickly.

Brendan1
10-01-2009, 23:25
Only a partial log today, propagation was not very good. The snow was much thicker...

Brendan1
12-01-2009, 14:01
A short log, and propagation conditions were not very good either.

Brendan1
13-01-2009, 01:20
The whole day got logged, but the K index was 70 and the A was 2, which means reception was not all that good. I always seem to end up in the skip zones...

Brendan1
14-01-2009, 01:08
Fairly poor reception again today. I was an hour getting started, but I don't think it would have made much difference. :o

Brendan1
15-01-2009, 00:10
Well, Dream crashed on me, so today happened in two parts. Rather poor conditions led to poor reception, especially in the afternoon.

Brendan1
15-01-2009, 23:54
Not great today, the band was all too-cyclic for sustained reception quality.

Brendan1
17-01-2009, 00:43
Worse than yesterday. Much less positive SNR over the day, and in fact some periods of very low signal strengths around mid-day here (1800UTC and later).

Brendan1
20-01-2009, 15:20
Only a partial log from yesterday, my logging is going to be somewhat limited this week. I am trying different locations for my antenna, so results may vary.

The log is quite good actually, signal levels were up. :)

Brendan1
21-01-2009, 16:32
Dream crashed: therefore two parts. Propagation was down yesterday.

Brendan1
22-01-2009, 02:05
Lower solar flux numbers are not helping: reception is still mediocre here. Also a little short as my PC crashed...:(

Brendan1
23-01-2009, 13:39
Most of the day was logged; however, other commitments cut it short. Not bad, not great either. :o

Brendan1
26-01-2009, 01:43
Logged after 2045 only today, somewhat sporadic until the last hour.

Brendan1
27-01-2009, 01:31
Signal levels weren't very steady today, looks like there was a lot of multipath interference.

Brendan1
28-01-2009, 00:55
Today was unfortunately rather poor. The A level is 12 currently, and that would appear to be hurting my reception here.

Brendan1
29-01-2009, 00:40
I don't know if tall buildings cause RF blocking or multipath, but I don't think they help either. A lousy day here in Chicago.

Brendan1
30-01-2009, 03:56
About the worst day yet here in Chicago. :(

Brendan1
31-01-2009, 00:33
About the same as yesterday, not a good trend!

Brendan1
01-02-2009, 00:11
A good day, one of the best yet here in Chi-town. The A level is up to 8, SF is 69, and the K level is 2 at the moment (01 Feb 0006UTC bulletin).

Brendan1
02-02-2009, 01:53
Dream doesn't like working on the weekends: it crashed today, so my log is in two parts.

Not the worst day, not the best either. :o

Brendan1
03-02-2009, 02:37
Dream doesn't seem to like Mondays either: another crash!

The morning was quite good, while the afternoon was not even usable until just before the end.

Brendan1
04-02-2009, 02:06
A pretty good log today, although it was not as steady as I would have liked it.

Brendan1
05-02-2009, 03:23
Vista and Dream are not playing together very well. Two crashes today: the first hour there wasn't much anyway, so most of the day was recorded.

Rather unsteady again, not as good as yesterday.

Brendan1
06-02-2009, 02:07
No crashes today! :D

Propagation into Chicago was still variable today, and there was quite a bit of fluctuation to the SNR. :(

Brendan1
12-02-2009, 16:47
A very short log from yesterday: I was getting my station back re-assembled and back online, so was only able to get a little bit of CBC.

Not bad, but certainly better than Chicago. Must have been all the big buildings and higher background noise level. :o

Back home now at the permanent QTH!

Brendan1
13-02-2009, 17:27
Ok, so Dream and XP didn't play well yesterday. Thankfully, it happens a lot less on XP than Vista... :(

Not bad, considering I changed antennas part-way through the day, around 1740 or so. :)

Brendan1
14-02-2009, 02:40
The afternoon was much more solid than the morning, but all-in-all it was a good day. :)

Brendan1
15-02-2009, 00:09
Conditions were not as good as yesterday, and overall quality was lower as a result.

Brendan1
16-02-2009, 02:09
Conditions were not very good today, and the log is not very good as a result.

Brendan1
17-02-2009, 00:09
Much better than yesterday, although the band was still somewhat unsettled. The A index is much lower today, 3 versus 10, so that may be the main reason why reception was easier. :)

The big dip between 2202 and 2230 is my fault: do NOT start Google Earth 5.0 while using the soundcard! There is a bug (already noted @ Google) that resets the existing soundcard settings to something different. It appears to reset different computers in different ways, but in my case the line input gets shut off right in the middle of everything. Previous versions of Google Earth did not do this, so only the latest version has this bug.

Brendan1
18-02-2009, 00:28
A really excellent log today. Propagation seems to have turned nicely.

A bit of a late start today due to other early morning commitments, so it's not complete.

Brendan1
19-02-2009, 00:12
Another good day, although the morning hours here were not very steady. The afternoon was excellent! :D

Brendan1
20-02-2009, 02:17
A truly excellent log, but for the one rather large 'dip.'

Brendan1
21-02-2009, 00:17
Conditions were not as steady as yesterday: SFI is 69 (same), but the A is 4 and the K is 3, both of which are higher than yesterday at this time (0000UT).

Brendan1
22-02-2009, 02:22
The morning was once again quite variable while the afternoon was very steady.

Brendan1
23-02-2009, 17:00
Not a bad day, although the morning propagation is still very unsettled.

Brendan1
24-02-2009, 00:07
Marginally better today: the ionosphere looked to be slightly more settled during the morning hours here.

Brendan1
25-02-2009, 00:08
Conditions were more slightly more disturbed today: the SFI is 71, A is 8, and K is 1 at 0000UTC 25Feb. :(

Brendan1
26-02-2009, 00:09
Solar conditions are better today, but that was not the real problem: Windows did an update and rebooted automatically three hours into the log.

Brendan1
27-02-2009, 00:12
A pretty good day, with just over 80% decoding.

Brendan1
28-02-2009, 00:09
A very good log today, with only a little over an hour that wasn't very good in the morning.

Brendan1
01-03-2009, 00:14
Propagation was somewhat more active today, and this morning's log suffered for it. The afternoon was also hit, although not as bad. :(

This is a repeat of the basic pattern of late: variable morning, good afternoon. Two parts, as I had to reboot the PC. The last hour was perfect!

Brendan1
03-03-2009, 00:47
Not at all good today, in fact down right disappointing reception. Solar indices are down to SFI:69, A:0, and K:0 at 0000UTC, which is a drop over the previous days.

Hi all,

Bad results but with some periods of good ones.

Brendan1
04-03-2009, 00:30
Hi John!

At least you are getting something over there. I have only ever received a very few European transmissions out this far on the west coast, so I'd say you are very lucky!

Up until about 1752, my antenna was not pointing in the right direction. Once fixed, the SNR certainly improved.

Hi all & Brendan,

Yes, that's right. Tonight the QRM affected strongly the decoding when the signal was weak, but it was better than yesterday, see the log.

Brendan1
05-03-2009, 00:09
Propagation suffered somewhat this morning (1500-2000). After 2000, reception cleared up as per the usual pattern now.

For comparison, I graphed the last hour separately, same period as John's log. Not far off considering how far apart we are! :)

Hi John and Brendan,

Slightly worse results here with the experimental indoor I/Q loop. I was here during lunch, and noted that Radio Thailand (in English) at 9805 KHz provided some QRM to the signal.

Hi Mark & John & all,

Propagation was off today, no question. The morning hours were rather poor again, and the afternoon was only a bit better. I noticed that the A levels are up to 3 (right now-0000UTC) and have been up all day. That's the main issue right there!

Hi Everyone,

Here is my unattended log for the day using the indoor I/Q loop; results were better than yesterday.

A small transmitter outage just after 1704 that lasted for a few minutes today. :(

Fair to mediocre this morning due to propagation, and the afternoon was better naturally.

Brendan1
08-03-2009, 02:26
WOW! Excellent conditions today. :)

Brendan1
09-03-2009, 01:36
The K level was up to at least 3 today, and the A level was higher (SFI was unchanged at 69).

Not the best day here.

Brendan1
10-03-2009, 02:12
Propagation was off again. The morning (1500-2000) was quite unsettled.

Brendan1
11-03-2009, 02:10
I'm just a little tired of this pattern: lousy morning, great afternoon.

Brendan1
12-03-2009, 02:33
I really, really dislike automatic updates and the subsequent re-boot, especially when I'm logging!

The morning was extra poor, I know both the A and K levels were higher today.

Brendan1
14-03-2009, 02:09
A full day yesterday, today I was logging TDF in the morning so this is only for the afternoon today.

Sackville started showing some problems at 2200 on the 12th, so while the RF was good, the MSC was down.

Brendan1
15-03-2009, 16:13
A pretty good afternoon - was logging the TDF special broadcast again in the morning. Looks like there was a brief outage at 2100.

Brendan1
16-03-2009, 02:07
An all-day log today. Fairly sporadic reception in the morning, better in the afternoon.

Brendan1
17-03-2009, 02:28
Pretty good today, a little better than the last couple of days. :)

Brendan1
18-03-2009, 02:06
A fairly radio-active day: the mid-day hours after 1800 were rather disturbed, and propagation certainly suffered.

Brendan1
19-03-2009, 02:06
Not even the afternoon hours escaped the poor conditions today: only the last hour was any good.

Brendan1
20-03-2009, 02:44
Incrementally worse than yesterday: the morning hours appear to have even less signal now.

20-03-2009, 21:39
Hi Brendan and all,
I hope I'm in the right thread here... "RCI" sounded a lot like the Vatican Radio, but that's how the cookie crumbles. At least the language was English as announced. The reception was pretty good from the back lobe of Sackville. The last few minutes were hampered by nearby AM QRM.

Brendan1
21-03-2009, 02:37
Hi Terje! Yes, this is the right place for RCI, and VR as transmitted by RCI. Since they don't change frequency for most of the day, I just lump them together...

Propagation was a little better today.

It also looks like I've got to upgrade my DRM Plot software... :)

Brendan1
22-03-2009, 02:12
Not a very good day until after 1800.

Brendan1
23-03-2009, 02:07
Never a dull moment logging Sackville: up, down, up, down. :o

Brendan1
24-03-2009, 02:36
Another so-so day. Even the next-to-last hour wasn't very good.

Brendan1
25-03-2009, 02:48
Hmmm, the morning is better and so is the late afternoon. I like it! :)

Brendan1
26-03-2009, 04:49
At least the afternoon was pretty good! :)

Brendan1
27-03-2009, 14:39
Not bad yesterday. :)

Brendan1
28-03-2009, 16:43
Propagation seems to be getting a little better.

Brendan1
29-03-2009, 02:16
There is definite improvement to propagation currently. I had more signal for longer periods today.

Brendan1
30-03-2009, 03:32
CBC has shifted their schedule back an hour: they're closing at 2200 now, and the breaks are an hour earlier. Either that or the transmitter didn't work for the last hour. Not as good as yesterday.

Brendan1
31-03-2009, 03:10
Definitely a schedule shift: Sackville is now running from 1505 to 2200 with RCI and Vatican Radio relays.

Quite poor today: only the last hour was any good.

Brendan1
01-04-2009, 03:36
About the same today: very rough morning and mid-day, while the last hour was much better.

Brendan1
02-04-2009, 05:52
A repeat: only the last hour was worth much.

Brendan1
03-04-2009, 04:13
Better than yesterday: an incremental 'better' that is, as the entire afternoon was rather good versus only an hour yesterday.

Brendan1
04-04-2009, 03:37
Another day, another incremental step upwards!

Brendan1
05-04-2009, 03:25
Well, somebody's being nice to me! While not the steadiest of propagation today, it was better.

Brendan1
06-04-2009, 03:16
Much the same, although there was a bad period during the morning.

Brendan1
07-04-2009, 03:07
As usual, the morning was so-so, the later afternoon much better.

Brendan1
08-04-2009, 03:32
A fairly active day, radio-wise.

Brendan1
09-04-2009, 03:06
The fairly good conditions continue, it seems to be the 'norm' right now.

Brendan1
11-04-2009, 03:09
Got busy yesterday and forgot to post!

Very mediocre conditions today and the log shows it. Yesterday was only slightly better...

Brendan1
12-04-2009, 17:30
More bad news: not so good yesterday. :(

And so far today isn't looking too good either.

Brendan1
13-04-2009, 03:07
High A and K levels today didn't help reception.

Brendan1
14-04-2009, 03:02
Dream crashed only part way through the day.

Pretty poor conditions for the morning hours here.

Brendan1
15-04-2009, 03:33
A very poor log today, I'll blame propagation for it all.

Brendan1
16-04-2009, 03:06
Very poor again.

Brendan1
18-04-2009, 03:13
I was very busy yesterday, and didn't have time to post. Poor for both days, the 16th being the worst, and I don't see any improvement any time soon.

Brendan1
26-04-2009, 16:20
The shifting amount of daylight is certainly affecting propagation to my location from Sackville. Not much has changed while I was logging TDF to Las Vegas/Mexico City over the last week.

Brendan1
27-04-2009, 03:06
Fairly poor today, and I seem to have some sort of periodic QRM showing up that I'll have to track down. It's very broadbanded and disruptive.

Brendan1
28-04-2009, 03:10
Another poor showing today. I notice the solar flux is down to 68 today, and that's probably enough to cause the poor conditions.

Brendan1
29-04-2009, 03:33
Some improvement today, the last hour was rather good (according to the logged data).

Brendan1
30-04-2009, 03:02
Much the same today. I do know there is some interference from about 1500 to 1700 both co-channel and on adjacent frequencies. I'll try to find out who...

Brendan1
02-05-2009, 17:09
Work has been rearing it's ugly head: sorry for the delay in posting.

CRI on 9800 from Asia appears to be the main culprit here for the first hour of reception being so bad. Not much I can do about that... :(

Brendan1
03-05-2009, 18:42
The morning hours are turning into a dead loss out here - and even then the afternoon is no longer so good either.

Brendan1
04-05-2009, 06:16
The poorest day in months.

Brendan1
05-05-2009, 15:32
Very poor once again.

Brendan1
06-05-2009, 05:52
Very little "up" time once again.

Brendan1
07-05-2009, 15:37
The last hour looks to have been good, which is an improvement.

Brendan1
09-05-2009, 19:02
Results for both days were still quite poor, and Dream crashed yesterday.

Brendan1
12-05-2009, 03:49
I'm getting behind...:(

Brendan1
12-05-2009, 05:23
Only the last hour was any good, and that's not saying much. :(

Brendan1
14-05-2009, 02:32
Rather poor yesterday.

Brendan1
16-05-2009, 02:55
Poor on the 13th, but the last hour yesterday was very solid.

Nothing for the 15th, I was logging TDF Montsinery today instead. ;)

Brendan1
19-05-2009, 02:56
Most of the day is now lost for reception for me.

Brendan1
20-05-2009, 05:12
Still suffering...

Brendan1
25-05-2009, 02:22
Catching up from a busy schedule...

Brendan1
25-05-2009, 02:23
I've been way behind... :o Yesterday was quite good at the end.

Brendan1
25-05-2009, 06:44
Extremely poor reception today. I wish they were using 25 meters or higher now.

Brendan1
26-05-2009, 06:33
Extremely poor conditions today - not much to copy, let alone listen to.

Brendan1
29-05-2009, 04:09
Well, my PC is getting bored: two days in a row Dream crashed while I was at work, right after starting to log for the entire day.

It would appear to be sensing the less than spectacular propagation... :o

Brendan1
31-05-2009, 18:00
All too poor reception the last couple of days.

Brendan1
03-06-2009, 04:51
Too much work, too little time for the 'net! :(

A little better on the first.

Brendan1
03-06-2009, 04:53
Today was not so good. We just need a higher frequency now...

Brendan1
16-06-2009, 03:14
Some too busy at work time, a small accident (and a short trip to the hospital) and some time off, I'm now ready to catch up with my logs.

Pretty much the same...

Brendan1
16-06-2009, 03:15
I've got lots more...:)

Brendan1
16-06-2009, 03:16
Still going...

Brendan1
16-06-2009, 03:18
The last log before my enforced off-time. A small bump on the head that was not very pretty at the time but is now healing very nicely.

Brendan1
16-06-2009, 03:19
Back in the swing of things, and ready to fully resume logging. :)

Brendan1
17-06-2009, 03:15
Quite poor today - far too much variation in today's propagation!

Getting great copy on this one with about 98% audio decoding and only a few brief dropouts. Peak SNR at 25.0 db and a few drops to 14.0 db, but averaging between 22 and 23 db for the most part.
