Surprisingly good this afternoon. After 16 UTC the reception became problematic, even with the change to mono and a lower bitrate.
Some results from earlier today, not too bad except a short period around 1100, AFS still wrong.

Listening in in the afternoon when the reception used to be quite bad in the afternoons during the Winter gave a surprising result.
A different pattern this afternoon. Almost perfect conditions until 1539 UTC when a TX on 6.100 MHz started up and ruined the reception instantly and completely. :(
40 minutes from this morning. There were several drop-outs despite a rather strong signal.
97 minutes good decoding from this afternoon. I did not see when the bitrate changed to 17 kbps, was it perhaps at 15 UTC? The fun ended at 1545 UTC when something happened - I think it was that 6.085 became very strong, about 20 dB over RTL - at least decoding became impossible.
Very unstable today. Suddenly the decoded sound disappeared completely.
Various results during the afternoon. A 3 1/2 hours long, partly unattended log.
Much better today, Sunday. The log is a little over 4 hours long.
Almost two hours from this morning.

Some ups and downs on this frequency today. At times there were very peculiar propagation conditions: Stong signal, very low SNR and no decoded audio. :confused:
In the very beginning the Shifted Power Spectral Density looked very queer.

Driving around locally 52N 07E, signal faded away, came back after 09:00.
Another log from Junglister, what happend on 16.00? I think it's Voice of Russia from St.Petersburg interfering. Some day I will try a directional antenna, a loop could be a starting point.

Quite good result at the start of listening at 07:49 UTC. Later the signal was more or less lost, 08:37. A total of 93 % CDA.
I remember when the analog-signal of " Radio Luxemburg" on this frequency faded away at same daytime. ;)

Last weekend I have made an overnight log on 6095 KHz with the elector classic rx. In the log was written a large time without reception. So I think to myself, maybe this rx is not the best at night for 49m-Band and delete the log.
Last night i make a log again with the TS 2000. Same result.
Now i definitely know the elector rx is ok ! ( or both bad :D )
Consistent timeout beetwen 00:00 UTC and 04:30 UTC.

last night i watch the time between 23:30 and 00:30 UTC. It seems propagations on 49m-Band was much better. First interference starts again around 00:00 UTC with fast fading. The second ie is unattended and starts 1:58 UTC and ends 3:57 UTC.
Remarkable the BR with 20.96 KB /B/16/64.

I start the log on 8.June within a stable SNR. I think my antenna-matching was ok. A rapidly SNR rise or sinking must not be abnormal. I will observe this next time. Greetings to Villach/Kärnten

@ Andy, andimik: These sudden drops in SNR are nothing unusal, see my posts from Feb and March in this thread.

Please keep in mind that the propagation is not in our favour during the night. During the dark hours there would be a zone with weak or no reception at certain distances from the transmitter. If you'd ask listeners in Belarus or Ukraine, I suppose they probably would enjoy much better reception of 6.095 MHz over there.
Hello to all,
Test made from Ilmenau, Thuringia, in the center of Germany. Laptop on AC power in an appartment with some kind of electric noise.
Short tests made in the night with 855/1440/1575/1593 indicate that the reception conditions were worst than during my last attempt in the same area (Oberhof) last year, where I could listen clearly to WDR whole night long if only my laptop had enough batteries.
I planned reception tests from Berlin on the next night, but not enough time for me to try.

@ andimik: it would be interesting to see, how rtl france at 5990 works at your place. I'm logging that transmission for a few days now (and will post some of the results next days) and at least at my place that tx works much better than rtl germany.
one reson should be the sfn co transmission from germany but snr is better and more stable at the other times, too.
So either I'm not in the target of the folded Dipole of RTL 6095 or the cross-dipole on 5990 works much better.

When listening in usb mode with DREAM at 5kHz i.f. I can cut off the +/- 5kHz carriers and even use the auto notch filter to reduce blocking. :)

Funny propagation conditions, the signal kept on coming back several times.
The noise floor was strong here, and sometimes the audio was not OK. There was a repetitive crackling noise like from an old 78rpm record audible when the signal was modulated. Without modulation it disappeared.

Now on 6095 kHz: KBS World Radio in English. Label etc as always.
RTL Radio at 1630 UTC back again.

Almost 85% CDA while it lasted. Whether the Mode change at 15:45 UTC had anything to do with that the decoding stopped I cannot say, as I was out at the time.
The first 55 minutes were stable with >99% CDA. THe rest was a bit up and down.

When the religious program startet PTY and text messages changed.
New regular transmission: 1600-1630 UTC on 6095 kHz via LUX: KBS World Radio in English, daily!

103 minutes of 'RTL RADIO - Die Besten Hits Aller Zeiten', from 10:13 to 11:56 UTC. Despite that the optimum frequency should have been around 10 MHz, I got 62 % CDA.

Quite a good log from the afternoon. I think it is more like 'RTL RADIO - Die Selben Hits Aller Zeiten' :D .
The log is 4 h 45 min long and except for the 'same hits', there were Korean topics in English and 'our' Pfarrer Schmid (I think) from Biberstein preaching in between. RTL is clever at changing ID:s for the different transmissions. There was a Protection Level change from 1/0 to 0/0 at 15:44 UTC.
By the way, could they have used a different antenna this afternoon??? Just a thought, as the French service is off air.
Another long log (4h 44 min) but RTL was not as clever today changing the labels as they were yesterday. But the 97% CDA surprises me; much better than I have been used to before.

There was a period in the middle of the log, about 65 minutes, with >99% CDA.
Today 5h45Min log. Nearly perfect.
5dB SNR more and it will be perfect ;) .

Received txt msg: 'KBS World Radio a cooperation by RTL Radio, World Radio Network and KBS' and 'RTL RADIO - Die Besten Hits Aller Zeiten'
Time: 14:51 - 15:57 UTC = 66 minutes, which resulted in 98% CDA.
Her is log from 60min. good music.:)
No, that was absolutly not what I wanted to hear when I tuned the Multyradio to 6095 (KBS/RTL).

This noise stopped at 1530 UTC when they switched back to RTL RADIO.
Reception was good, by the way.

I noticed today, November 6th, that I had to retune with 1 kHz in order to receive RTL properly! BR5 is spot on 6085 by comparison.
44 minutes of listening, which included KBS Radio from WRN. Time: 16:05-16:49.
Good recption: CDA 93%.
Her is a log from absolutly cannel with large problem of all.
And so this time aslo, near all stations on this band is S9+40db and more.
6085 ,6095 S9+20db and AM on 6090 S9+30db. :eek:
In this 94min. give DRM RX CDA 95% audio ok.:) :)

Hey, surprise: RTL now on 6096.xx kHz?! Is this wanted or done by accident?
I wish, RTL would change the antenna to the crossed dipol at 6095 and try the same bitrate ranges with Mode A. Should give much more reliable Signal here in the center of europe.

Hi all.
A weak signal from RTL this morning (~25 dBuV) but on a clean channel, so I got a not bad result for 78 mins, then at 10:39 a powerfull carrier appeared on 6100 kHz, ~ 40 dB above RTL and killed DRM, as seen in the 2nd plot.

Until ~08:45 the signal was quite good for nearly excellent results, then dropped and problems started although it was listenable. Around 10:00 the signal got even more weak and decoding stopped.

Perfect signal last 94min to 1300UTC today ,now start R Moscow on 6100 ,84dbuV!!!! Stop DRM .
Did anyone notice the new Journaline service on this frequency? It's available by clicking on "Multimedia Dialog" under "View" in DREAM.
The service contains some information about ways to listen to RTL RADIO (satellite, cable, DRM on SW and MW, FM) and some words about RTL's new regional channel on FM. But it seems the first headline "Das neue Regionalprogramm ab 1. Dezember 2008" is not linked with a text.
But AFS should be corrected a bit, because 6095 is not on air 24 hours a day.
I am surprised HOW BAD 16 KBPS CAN SOUND. Sounds like crap, sorry.

In the old AM days RTL was a reason to buy a carradio with 49m.
Not much left:
With a carrier in the middle (at least at the end of the log) listening is not fun.
55 Min. with good result ! Small Problems to the end of log when the signal strength goes lower and the co-channel AM comes higher.
Perfect results while RTL was relaying the German broadcast of KBS Seoul.

Not stable on the short distance:
Dear all,
BCE will broadcast "RTL Radio - Die besten Hits aller Zeiten" from 8:00 UTC to 11:00 UTC. The DRM transmission from Junglinster includes broadcasts from "Missionswerk Heukelbach" (8:15 - 8:30 UTC) and "Missionswerk Freundesdienst" (8:30 - 8:45 UTC) as well as a broadcast from "KBS World Radio" (9:00 - 9:30 UTC).

A mostly unattended log. Very good reception after changing a "sort of" dipole to the same type of active antenna I use in Switzerland.
Almost perfect reception in this morning log.
53 minutes of perfect decoding until the end of the transmission.

Time: 11:26-12:03 UTC when the news bulletin was abruptly cut as the Tx left the air. Distorted audio during speech, otherwise excellent reception; CDA 95%.

Perfect reception on the German KBS World broadcast. The config change was one minute to early so not 100% CDA in the display.

RTL relaying KBS
News regarding the relay of KBS WORLD in German from Seoul, Korea: Originally, they planned to stop the digital transmission this month but I just heard that they extended it's relay on 6095 kHz in DRM. 0600-0630 UTC is the new scheduled time.

At that time I'm still in office, and the signal is still weak then.
Today not bad on the short distance, but why do they switch off at 08:00 UTC when the reception is getting better? :confused:
No text message when RTL program but with text during religious transmission.
