Hi,

Despite that I'm quite away from the target area, north Africa, I recieved MOI Kuwait rather good here in Sweden. The low bitrate, 11.6 kbps helps. Time 15:00 - 15:40 UTC.

Hi,

triggered by Per's posting, I tuned to 9880 kHz and had quite a good reception, although there were AM stations on 9875 and on 9885 kHz.

The main channel uses 16-QAM which allows for much more noise without affecting proper decoding when compared to the usual 64-QAM that is required for higher bitrates.

Hi all,
the actual D mode needs a high SNR (min. 19-20 db) to get any audio, although the bitrate is only 13 kbps.

Hi,

Listening time today was 13:42 - 14:49 UTC. Result: 51%. Well, that's at least better than the 9875 kHz transmission from Rampisham. I checked that frequency at 14:50, there was not a trace of any R Australia.

I was surprised to have good reception here today. However at 16:00 UTC a strong AM signal on 9875 kHz appeared and stopped continuous audio. So that's the conditions I am used to when I switch to MOI Kuwait in the evening.....:mad:

Good reception with very low audio quality going from 48147 Muenster to 48712 Gescher.
It's a shame that digital radio is misused as a telefone replacement. :(

I was just testing the DEGEN DE31 antenna, hang outside on a NE facing window, on this relatively easy received frequency, in my area. I also used an adjustable LC network, which improved the reception even further, finally a perfect result for one hour.

Well not so curious results. I watched it today. For one hour the result was nearly excellent, then interference started on 9875 (Radio Solh, Afghanistan) and later another one on 9885 (FEBA RADIO, UK) which ruined the reception. Take a look at two "pngs".

A strong and stable signal gave a perfect result for 43 mins. At 1459 a strong co-channel interference started which kept from decoding, so I stopped logging. See the pngs.

Signal itself seems to be very strong, but is massively disturbed by another strong station in AM on 9875 kHz.

Btw after end of DRM transmission 15' later than scheduled MOI Kuwat gave the proof, that you can have Tx related droputs in AM too :D.

CRI was stopped at 15:57.
The signal from Kuwait could be decorded after CRI stopped.
I made PNG file only 15 mins,because it was midnight in JAPAN.

The high SNR interested me, but my result was average in respect to SNR. I could not even get more than 28 dB during the three hours I logged. Around 1600 UTC there was a weak spot, otherwise it was very good all through. Dare I say it was an unattended log?

Today MOI is testing in Mode D. Two strong AM-Signals +- 5 KHz.

Yes, I also recognized Mode D. But bitrate was 12,96 kBit in QAM64, sound awful (as usual), but bad decoding (lots of dropouts).

Mode D seems to be a stupid idea to use.

Hi all,

Here is a good log from Chania/Crete, using a laptop, the DRT1 and the Degen loop at about 10m above sea level. The signal was about 40 to 55 dBuV, but due to the very noisy environment the results were not as good as expected.
