Hi All

9725 kHz has provided very good reception here in Wellington, New Zealand.

This is about as good as DRM gets in this part of the world.

11875 kHz is also equally as good at the moment (0900 UTC).

Received 100%, no problems with the very stable signal. First part of the first transmission was Chinese, then English. Sound quality is very good but apparently some parts are compressed differently than others since there is a slight (not disturbing) audible difference.

I hope TDF will have real logs from this sparsely populated area.

Signal remained strong and stable all the time, but sound was lost at about 11 UTC (I was not listening at the moment). Break in TX at 11:22 did not bring it back. Another break 11:32, no success neither. At 11:45 data source was labeled TDPRadio! No sound though. New TX breaks at 11:51, 11:55, and 11:57 again.

After 11:57 it was ok with proper source information and CRI audio, and with the stable 26 dB. I had no chance to listen all the time but I kept recording. Looking at the graphics now, I see that there were no more interruptions.
AAC SBR param stereo 19.1 kbps + Slideshow 1.8 kbps

(What an interesting log I could have had. I wonder if I should install Dream again..?)

Hi all,

I managed to receive this transmission, covered by the strong splatters of the TX on 11870 kHz. The signal was about 35 dBuV and the sound was very good. I also received some pics from the MOT service.

Stable signal in today's last transmission, too.

So, what we had here was excellent propagation, good frequencies, pleasant sound quality, and interesting contents in the English speaking part. Problems (after 11:00 UTC) were TX-related.

What more could one wish? I know what.

Receivers! From China :-)

Sorry for late notice.

Receivers! From China! Maybe they got some of those Uniwave Di-Wave-receivers which can display slideshows on their displays. By the way, nothing here on 9725 kHz now.

Simone's figures must be upside down, there is TDF/CRI transmission on air now at 5865 kHz. SNR here 26,4, stable reception.

Chris: new try tomorrow, we are quite on the opposite sides of the globe;-)

When it approaches dusk, I can pick up some audio. But then, strong AM interference cut short of the fun.

Hi All

9725 kHz provided a very good signal again here in NZ from 0800-0900 today.

I'm always still amazed when I get reception like this and hear how good DRM can sound right around the world :)

I've made an animated GIF of today's slideshow, which today includes a photo of Montsinery.

11875 kHz is currently now providing excellent reception, but if it is like last night it will suffer co-channel AM interference from 0930.

Cheers, Chris

Perfect 100 % reception this morning, too, in 9725 kHz (with same parametres and graphics as before, except the additions in transmission schedule). My SNR keeps steadily in 25-26 SNR.

(I tried to find old Dream files yesterday night to enable making logs again, but after so many years I seem to have lost them, and did not start searching on the net but went to sleep.)

Transmission on 11875 goes on as well at the moment.

It would be nice to see logs from Sweden. Per? Sixten?

Not much of a signal on 9725 kHz in Switzerland, but I did not expect anything else. Has happened before when TDF beamed DRM to China.

PS: 11875 kHz now at 0920 is even weaker here...

Hi all,

Bad results this morning here due to weak signal and fading, IR has two peaks also. I set Dream to sync on the 1st peak and it was a bit better.

Almost perfect reception in southern Finland. Very strong signal on 11875 kHz too.

Hi All

Here's a surprise (for me anyway ). My deaf old Morphy Richards is locking on to 11875 kHz, sitting inside by NZ house, with just the whip antenna.
It's even managing to decode the occasional bit of audio.

My FRG100 with an outside antenna is giving very good reception at the moment (10:20 UT).

(10:44 UT: Having moved the MR to a quiet window ledge away from computers it's now decoding away happily - sounds rather good in my kitchen :))

Hi all,

Although well out of target area the signal was 25 - 45 dBuV fade suferred. Decoding was possible only when SNR was > 19 dB. I cannot explain this, since I have received weaker TXs and decoding was possible even below 14 dB SNR. May be it caused due to the TX set-up (?). A 5 hour log is attached and 6 images from the MOT service.

So it is over, the first and the last tests in Chinese/English from France to Finland, I assume. Also todays's transmissions in 9725 kHz and 11875 kHz offered stable signal, perfect reception and very nice sound quality.

I hope that testing times (10 years!) will be over one day and CRI will start transmitting regularly. In circumstances where I live, DRM is very handy (could be even more, if I had a couple of portable receivers). I could not imagine that traditional radio should or would be replaced by webcasting.

I have noticed that there is an interest in sound files. So I made two addiotional files from todays transmissions:
http://www.infoverstas.fi/mp3/9725start.mp3 (start of programme) and
http://www.infoverstas.fi/mp3/11875_last.mp3 (part of the last transmission)

(Sorry for some changes in recording level, some mp3s were made with a little too small recording level, some with a little too big; you cannot blame TDF for that).

Looks like a TX problem. There was an abrupt drop in signal level at about 09:35:10 UTC. My reception was 100% regardless of this glitch.

Thanks All for sending reports; it seems to work quite well from France to Finland, Sweden, Northern Europe and also to some exotic locations like NZ, Greece ...etc.
