View Full Version : BBC & DW on 13810 KHz from Sines
First log from Stockholm. I decided to start with an easy one, and I got the label of R N Z I instead of REE :eek: with the antenna hanging inside in a window. Not bad. But REE went off air and I switched to 13810 instead, now with the antenna outside about 2 meter above the snow. A good result for 2 h 30 min. :)
Perfect log, except for some break or something - a TX problem?
13 MHz was much better than 9 MHz.
A five hours long perfect log while I was out. :)
Excellent results for the whole 6 hours of transmission today.

Perfect reception with my temporary set-up here in Stockholm.
Perfect signal from 0900 log 2h.
Great results with a strong and stable signal.

Perfect reception here on 13,810 MHz !
Good but low signal stringth this morning her also.
Despite a low MUF for this frequency the reception was stable this morning, even that there was a relatively strong magnetic disturbance.
SPACE WEATHER is now very interesting , all freq. is very stabile . Log 1h20min .
1343 short CW start.
Low signal stringth but perfect DRM signal. No fading her also. what i can see most this sun storm clean up ionosphere !!!!!! free from fading.
Perfect recepton here despite the low MUF which predicts much worse conditions at this frequency. Bravo, Sines!

Reduced SNR by electrostatic rain, last minutes show SNR with parking car.
Perfect reception this morning in this unattended log. There was one single FAC glitch at 10:16:32 UTC.
Perfect up until 1200 UTC, 97% CDA after 1200 in this unattended log.
Perfect results for 5 hours.

The first 136 minutes of the 170 were perfect, then 98.5% CDA after 12 UTC.
This morning at the beginning (at least) there was QRM from a utility TX about 3 kHz up from the center, which sounded like a RTTY or something. It partially killed the DRM from Sines. The rest of the log was unattended (because of the super spring weather here).
Excellent results for the whole transmission.

two hours log around 12 o'clock local time from Rome
Propagation today give DRM = FM transmission. Log 2h 44min. :) :)
Surprisingly high SNR here today. My RF-B60 usually does not creep above 21 dB SNR; in this log I got 24.4 dB. :)

A long log with my 10 cm antenna. But almost perfect. A flaw in the Dream CSV file caused the Audio Plot to contain ripples. But that is a different problem. There was one lost FAC at 12:09 which caused a small audio break.
Perfect reception for 101 minutes, but something happened two minutes from the start of the log. Arcing again?
Very low and unstabile signal stringth today her in Sweden . For this bad propagation .
Log last 60min. low but stablie signal today.

I used a different antenna today. I don't think that was the reason for the weaker period around 1030 UTC, that seems to have been some kind of interference. :confused:

Fantastico propagation on 13Mhz now Log 1h.
Today also low signal stringth from Sines but perfect DRM signal.
Almost perfect reception on this frequency.
Not so strong but stablile signal , small dropout for tunderstrom over Sweden today.

Kattenvenne-B475-A1-A43-B525-Gescher with an engine restart near Ladbergen.
Perfect reception. The SNR is a bit lower with the 1.7 m whip than with the 70 cm whip. It doesn't matter how I attenuate the RF input signal or decrease the IF gain. The "Problem" seems to stem from the active antenna circuit itself. Need to go after this when I find time when I'm not paiting the house or hammering in the kitchen :cool:
A 248 minutes long perfect log. Nothing more, nothing less...

My "08:57 event" from Aug. 16 could of course have been something local, or something starting up near 13810.
Anyway, this short log from this morning is perfect.

Hi all
Because maintenance works in the courtain antenna, from today, and for about 1 month this transmittion will be made with a log periodic verticaly polarized antenna. Is expected that the signal strenght lower at last 6dBs.

Signal was not as stable as usual, also looks like some switching at 0900.

Signalstrength was rising after 09:40 UTC today.
Fairly stable signal here in Stockholm. The National RX is not a "high-SNR" radio, but it works OK.
Again some problems today.

fading signal but average good reception.the center of europe is not really in the target zone of the antenna i think.;)
At 1220 a strong, unmodulated carrier caused problems. This unmodulated carrier became weaker towards the end of the transmission and then turned into a God Radio at 1400 UTC. :mad:
Not too bad today.

Quite good results today, dips at 0942 and 1112 probably something going on at Sines (?).

Doing some tests with two receivers (FRG-7700 on a PC and the TRA-2350P on a Laptop) using the same antenna. I want to find out what to expect to receive in Japan next time I go there. 13810 kHz was an easy catch.
Again two receivers, one antenna. This time the FRG-7700 and the RF-B60. Both receivers showed the same variations in the Doppler plot. The Doppler value rose suddenly towards the end.
Sines on 13Mhz is back agin with good signal . Propagtion better today. Log 1h.

Remeber that we continue using the Log periodic vertical polarized antenna.
This antenna have much less gain that the courtain antenna.
LP antenna are now, in use of most of frequencys of DRM transmission from Sines. This will be continue by more two weeks more or less.
I do not know the works point, because I`m in a short hollidays.

There is a carrier on the frequency for about 40 minutes before the end of BBC & DW which is interfering rather badly. :mad:
This can be seen in the SNR curve in my log. The carrier is unmodulated, but starts talking some kind of God church from 1400UTC.
Possible to turn the Log-periodic to horizontal polarization?
That irritating co-channel carrier wave is still interfering with Sines. This afternoon it started around 12 UTC and was still on when I stopped the log.
Perfect propagation for antenna test. I have switch from dipole an active antenna in 15min. interval in this log. No diff. in signal . :) :) :)

It was January 31 when I last time listened to DW on this QRG. Then CDA=99.8 %. As always perfect signal from Sines: CDA=99.7 % for 70 minutes. Time: 08:18-09:29 UTC.
Fantastic signal her today. Only strong QRM from CRI on 13810 from 12to 1400UTC. :) :)

I think Sines is still on the vertical log per antenna.
I've never seen this signal that weak, around 11:30 UTC down to S7! :(
Might work well on the longer distance to Scandinavia,
but here in Germany the signal is not what it used to be.
