Well, the schedule on their website shows that they should be on 15720 kHz, but after about 0200 UTC I found them here. I think the Perseus/Dream problems may be solved.

17-04-2008, 05:23
The schedule on the website has been changed, but I'm not sure the transmitter personnel have seen it. A bit irregular tonight.
Alan Johnson
18-04-2008, 14:12
RNZI seems to be still having trouble with the schedule change. I checked around 0345 - there was a nice waveform on the Perseus display, but no audio and no station identification info. :(

19-04-2008, 07:48
Much better tonight.

20-04-2008, 06:28
For my first log of this broadcast I'd say things were still not doing all that well this far north. It might do better as the daylight hours get longer.
Alan Johnson
21-04-2008, 05:11
Pretty good tonight.
Brendan1
21-04-2008, 18:38
I had signal the entire period, just not enough for decoding! Still, last night was better than the previous night.
Alan Johnson
22-04-2008, 05:29
short log tonight, but very good.
Brendan1
22-04-2008, 17:22
Dang, nice log, Alan!
Nowhere near as good up here. :(
Alan Johnson
23-04-2008, 05:20
I must be in a sweet spot - another solid hour of reception.:D
Brendan1
23-04-2008, 17:21
Sheesh, no way can I compete with that! :o

Hi all
I haven't writen report long time.
The signal became strong .
But there were QSB.

Not very good at all tonight. I started listening earlier and the A and K indices were 27 and 4 respectively. Of course, as I'm writing this the SNR jumped up to 17 with solid audio!
Brendan1
25-04-2008, 16:59
Not so good, but not bad considering the space weather yesterday.
Alan Johnson
25-04-2008, 17:53
Much better here than further north.

Hi all
RNZI changed 11675KHZ from 13840KHZ.
( until next week)
The signal iis strong as good as 13840KHz.

Not very good tonight - it appears that RNZI is switching to 9890 an hour earlier than what the schedule shows.
Brendan1
27-04-2008, 16:50
Hmmmm, I didn't get an early closure here. In fact, this is probably my best log so far for this frequency.
Alan Johnson
28-04-2008, 05:14
Very good tonight and no confusion on my part about the schedule. Not only good reception but very interesting programming as well - very eclectic.
Brendan1
28-04-2008, 16:49
Each night this transmission seems to get better and better.
Alan Johnson
29-04-2008, 05:49
I had only less than an hour to listen, but solid copy.
Alan Johnson
30-04-2008, 05:58
I got a late start (I checked from 0205 to about 0240 but no signal) but the transmission was good almost to the end, when I assume propagation gave out.
Brendan1
30-04-2008, 18:52
Slowly getting better.
Alan Johnson
01-05-2008, 05:36
Pretty good tonight - a little rocky at first. Amazing that 13 Mhz does so well after sunset.
Brendan1
01-05-2008, 16:46
I've noticed before that 13MHz is an odd band for propagation, and this broadcast confirms that here as well. Sunset is around 2030 hours local (0326Z), so this doesn't get better until about that time. First burst of good signal was just at sunset, and then it dropped for a bit but recovered very nicely before the end of the transmission at 0457Z. :)

02-05-2008, 05:37
Wow! The dip just after 0400 UTC is from me toggling the bandpass filter in Dream.
Brendan1
02-05-2008, 16:38
The last half-hour is the best half-hour!
Brendan1
03-05-2008, 15:51
This is the entire extent of the log for RNZI last night: I logged until 0500, but there was nothing else shown after 0330UTC.
Alan Johnson
04-05-2008, 07:32
Looks like they decided to quit early tonight.
Brendan1
04-05-2008, 16:37
Funny, they shut down on me at the same time!
They went to 11675 after 0300 yesterday - though here they get Kuwait co-channel after they switch off their DRM.
Cheers, Chris

05-05-2008, 15:10
No frequency shift at 0300 tonight.
Alan Johnson
06-05-2008, 05:18
Very good tonight. Interesting how the SNR rises as local sunset (0300 UTC) approaches. The periodic dips starting about 0343 are presumed Perseus/VAC glitches.
Brendan1
06-05-2008, 15:24
Not much joy here last night.
Alan Johnson
07-05-2008, 05:23
A bit more irregularity tonight.
Alan Johnson
08-05-2008, 06:00
Very good tonight - the double dips are where I began to lose sync and then restarted Perseus.
Brendan1
08-05-2008, 16:41
Sorry, screwed up and botched getting the logger set up right for the 7th, so no log for that night. :(
Brendan1
09-05-2008, 16:51
A good stretch of usable signal last night, better than most evenings of late. Just when it gets nice and stable is when RNZI shifts off to 9890. :o
Alan Johnson
09-05-2008, 16:57
I didn't have much time to log, but good reception.
Alan Johnson
10-05-2008, 14:55
Another short log.
Brendan1
10-05-2008, 16:57
Good improvement at the end of the transmission.
Hi Everyone,
This transmission is pretty solid here - even with a small INDOOR loop mounted on the floor next to my desk!
73,
Mark
Alan Johnson
11-05-2008, 06:10
Solid tonight.
Brendan1
11-05-2008, 16:57
I agree: once the band is in, it's in! :D
Hi Everyone,
Not as good here -- in fact, the indoor log from the 10th was better than outdoor log from the 11th!
73,
Mark
Hi Everyone,
I couldn't resist trying the indoor antenna again this evening on RNZI - and snapping a photo (see attached) during decoding with the antenna resting on the floor:)
Solid conditions again tonight.
73,
Mark
Alan Johnson
12-05-2008, 15:06
Solid here as well until Perseus/VAC started acting up.
Brendan1
12-05-2008, 16:25
It was a good evening! Although the band does seem to kick in later here...:)
Alan Johnson
13-05-2008, 05:59
RNZI is the new RNW for consistent, stable reception. The mailbag show is on alternate UTC Tuesdays and they have segments for AM and DRM reception reports. Email a report and get your name read on the radio!
Brendan1
13-05-2008, 16:40
I just wish RNZI's excellent propagation would kick in a little earlier!
Alan Johnson
14-05-2008, 05:12
Good results tonight.
Brendan1
14-05-2008, 16:32
Slightly disturbed for me last night.
Alan Johnson
15-05-2008, 04:04
I gave up after an hour. No signal at all.
Brendan1
15-05-2008, 16:52
If I remember correctly, every other Thursdays there are off-air periods, when RNZI does transmitter maintenance.
They came back up about 0430.
Alan Johnson
16-05-2008, 04:44
Apparently no maintenance tonight. Log is in two parts as I took a break to update some drivers.
Brendan1
16-05-2008, 17:43
I would say this is my best log for this frequency. Conditions were quite good yesterday.
Brendan1
17-05-2008, 15:56
Interesting how the little "wave" of good SNR comes before the band really kicks in: this is not the first time I've noticed this phenomenon.
Brendan1
18-05-2008, 16:00
Nothing logged last night, not even a peep of a signal. They did come up on 9890 however with 20dB SNR, so I'm not sure what happened.
Alan Johnson
19-05-2008, 04:37
My logging stopped early for some unknown reason, but good reception tonight.
Alan Johnson
21-05-2008, 02:38
I just saw this posted on RNZI's website in the What's New section:
Interference to RNZI 13840
20 May, 2008 19:31 UTC
Recently China Radio International began using 13840 kHz. Listening in the South Pacific China’s transmission is clearly audible below RNZI’s programme. It is unlikely China will move and so RNZI will move to another 13 MHz frequency hopefully within a week.
Consulting the schedule shows 13840 DRM from 0159-0258 and 11675 DRM from 0259-0458 from 21 May. It will be interesting to see if reception on 11675 is better tonight.
Alan
Alan Johnson
21-05-2008, 04:17
The transmission is only an hour long, but excellent.
Brendan1
21-05-2008, 16:38
Thanks for finding that Alan! I'll change my logger to reflect those times.
Brendan1
22-05-2008, 16:33
This log just shows how bad the 22m band prop is into here at that time of day.
Alan Johnson
23-05-2008, 04:03
Good tonight, despite the solar indices.
Brendan1
24-05-2008, 16:47
Not so good here.
Alan Johnson
25-05-2008, 06:01
Pretty good - presumed Perseus/VAC dips towards the end.
Brendan1
26-05-2008, 16:43
Alan - your log and mine show what 600 miles of latitude difference means, excellent versus mediocre.
Alan Johnson
27-05-2008, 04:00
It took a while for propagation to kick in tonight.
Brendan1
27-05-2008, 16:43
Still lagging up here.
Brendan1
28-05-2008, 16:39
Somewhat rough last evening.
Brendan1
29-05-2008, 16:46
Still rough here.
Brendan1
31-05-2008, 16:49
Only a weak analog signal noted on 13730 last night, no sign of anything digital whatsoever.
Brendan1
02-06-2008, 17:11
Has anyone noted RNZI on the new frequency of 13730? I haven't logged one data point yet, despite logging for a couple days now. I'm not sure if they are actually on during this time frame.
