View Full Version : Dream that can run as background process?

Hi All

The recent demise of the Swedish DRM receiver on the DX Tuners network has got me thinking about making my own FRG100 DRM receiver more accessable on the internet.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any version of Dream for Linux that can run as a background process? I've never had any luck trying to compile any version of Dream on my Linux radio server (Fedora 6).

I'm looking for some "off the shelf" solution (ok, some minor tinkering is ok ;-) ) that can take input from a Jack sound source (ALSA would do) and decode it without running as a GUI application.

Cheers, Chris

You can build Dream without the Qt GUI, there is an option into the configure script: --enable-qt.
If you build Dream without GUI Dream run in background (also on windows).
Into the latest stable version 1.9.2 there is also an alpha support for jack ( --enable-jack ).
For more informations add a post into the Dream forum.

Thanks! I have downloaded it and compiled it ok, though only with ALSA support, not Jack so far. That may be enough.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers, Chris
