View Full Version : Germany vs Italy
Hi
Have tested the DRB30 against Elad FDM77 last night. Shared antenna with a homebuilt splitter, soundcards are not equal but I will switch the setup this night.
I think the result shows what I expected, the Elad has a better frontend but the DRB30 will deliver higher SNR when the conditions are right.

Part 2:
Switched the soundcards, Elad used the Santa Cruz and the DRB30 used the internal SoundMax. One problem with the DRB30 is the low line-level (IF out).
Max input on the line-in will show up on Dream as -80 dB, sometimes as low as -100dB. With a good soundcard like the Santa Cruz Dream will decode it but I think it will struggle with the SoundMax and its higher noise level. Anyway, here's todays result.

Part 3:
The last one for now, switched soundcards again, Santa Cruz to the DRB30 and the SoundMax to the Elad. Slightly higher SNR by the DRB30 but much better audio from the Elad.

Hallo,
I use ELAD FDM77 since february 2006. I have installed the last version of the software and the last "Virtual cable" driver. I have contacted Franco Milan from ELAD. The maximum SNR is 50dB. My highest value is 37,8dB. To obtain this values many operations must be make. At first choose in SETUP "EXTERNAL DRM" and browse to Dream, if installed. Second point place MLC to the position 4. Third go to the option from ELAD. Click on ADV and choose AGC sw and Slow. I have use 2 soundcards: in the first time SoundBlaster live 5.1! and now X-FI Extrem. In the control panel from the mixer choose the Mike input without amplifier. Look to the barregraph on the left side from the Dreamsoftware. The level must be beetween the beginning the level indication in red and stopped shortly the maximum level. You must play with the output selector from the receiver and the soundcard panel. The maximum SNR isn't absolutly obtain with the amplifier from the receiver. I don't have see a difference AGC in or out from the soundcards.
Sorry, my english is very poor.
