Not good here, much AM interference from -5, 0, and +5 kHz.
This new frequency seems to be a bad choice, results even worse here, strong AM co-channel interferer (French language), also some interference from the adjacent channels.
Simone
Very bad frequency planning! Very strong signal but a stronger AM Co-channel interferer.
Same problem as yesterday with the AM interferers.
Simone
Some more decoded audio today, again problems with the AM interferer.
Simone
Strong AM signal, nearly no audio decoding, most of the time not even sync :(
Simone
Better forget about this frequency. It's a waste of transmitter power due to very strong co-channel interference as well as from other stations 5 kHz up and below.
Roland
Thanks for all the reports - this frequency does not look too good does it? I will ask our frequency planning guys to see if we can do anything. - If anyone does manage to identify the french language AM broadcaster please let me know. I had one e mail saying possibly CRI, but its useful to know for sure.
James
Hi James,
the co-channel station is CRI with 150 kW from Albania.
See coverage map.
Klaus
Hi James,
the co-channel AM station could be clearly identified as CRI, bad results again in the last hour from Rampisham, here is a long log from Rampisham today including this frequency and a screenshot from the G313 showing the strong AM signal.
Simone
Bad results, strong signal from CRI again :(
Simone
A catastrophic failure with strong AM signals all over, especially one from CRI right on channel.
Distance in the log is wrong.
Roland
...and here is an AM MP3 recording made at 10 kHz receiver IF bandwidth that further demonstrates the mess.
Roland
My best results on this frequency so far with 85% correctly decoded audio!
Simone
After somewhat better results yesterday, not much today. Seems not worth to continue on this frequency.
Simone
Bad results again today, nearly no decoding :(
Simone
To be nasty: Right now I can perfectly follow CRI's programme in French. Reception on 5970 kHz in AM could be rated as O=3-4.
DREAM's noise reduction needs to be activated in "low" level only to keep away the white noise of BBC's DRM signal :D
(Edit: I changed RCI to CRI, sorry for mistyping that)
Absolutely nothing in my logfile today, never even saw a DRM signal, but AM signal with about 45dBµV all the time, but definitely it is not RCI to blame, it´s the Chinese (CRI in French) as mentioned some days ago!
Apparently it does not make sense to continue on this frequency.
Simone
Slightly! better than yesterday.
Simone
Much better than the days before, but there is still potential for improvement. CRI was weaker today.
CRI was somewhat weaker today, but still not worth tuning in.
Simone
Not too bad in the last 15minutes when CRI´s signal got weaker.
Btw when I finally got audio there was again/ still this crackling noise in the back.
Simone
Some audio in the first half, then CRI got too strong.
Simone
Strong AM signal from CRI, about 75 dBµV for most of the time, only a few minutes with decoding from BBC WS.
Simone
Absolutely nothing in the logfile today :(
Simone
Again not even a single sync today.
Simone
Started quite good in the first 10 minutes, then CRI was too strong.
Simone
Strong signal from CRI, nothing in the DRM logfile today :(
Simone
No audio decoded today :(
Simone
Absolutely nothing received today :(
Simone
Strong AM signal from CRI, not much audio decoding from DRM possible.
Simone
Not too bad for about 10 minutes.
Simone
Strong AM signal as usual from CRI, one of the better days concerning decoding from DRM.
Simone
Once again no audio decoding from the DRM transmission.
Simone
Strong signal from CRI, not a single sync from DRM.
Simone
Almost no audio decoding possible.
Simone
Bad results results as usual :(
Simone
With results like this, maybe I should better send a report to the Chinese, not post it here ;)
Simone
Again a strong signal from CRI.
Simone
Similar results again today.
Simone
Not too bad for the first 2 minutes.
Simone
No sign of a DRM signal, just a strong AM signal from CRI.
Simone
Only weak signals from both, BBC WS and CRI.
Simone
Stronger signal from CRI again today, not much from DRM.
Simone
Pretty strong AM signal from CRI, a few bits of audio from DRM just before the end.
Simone
Better than most days.
Simone
.. and today even better than yesterday, but still strong signal from CRI.
Simone
Nearly no audio decoding today.
Simone
Similar results again today.
Simone
Nearly nothing today :(
Simone
Here are my results from yesterday, even worse today with nothing at all in the logfile.
Simone
Just hopeless I guess with the strong signal from CRI.
Simone
Some decoding today.
Simone
Some decoding in the first 15 minutes.
Simone
Surprsingly good results today.
Simone
Not too bad again today.
Simone
Not much decoding today.
Simone
It is unbelivable, that this joke still goes on. I think we know that DRM has no chance against strong AM signals.
Quite bad in the first 20 minutes, then somewhat better results.
Simone
Strong interference as usual, bad results.
Simone
Some audio decoding this evening.
Simone
AM Interferer was not so strong today, better results than usual.
Simone
Hi,
Well, one of the least succesfull DRM receptions that I've done.
AM interference didn't make the result any better.
Just some ten minutes, but CDA only < 2 %.
Not much decoding possible today.
Simone
Interference as usual.
Simone
Problems with interference as usual.
Simone
Hope things will improve with the summer schedule.
