View Full Version : 6015 kHz TDP from Issoudun
Hi Simone,
hi all,
nearly same result here. Minor drop-outs and a moving SNR after 1515 UTC today. In deep fading an AM-signal was visible in PSD input window.
Good results this morning, problems in the last ten minutes this afternoon.
Simone
Maybe the first half this afternoon was in AM mode? Otherwise perfect on both transmissions.
Simone
Two perfect logs today.
Simone
Thanks for reports Simone, Andy, Fritz and terje.
Yesterday, you are right Simone, we transmitted in AM during 26' as a command to switch transmitter from AM to DRM was not efficient !!!! !!
Regards.
Jacques
Bad results yesterday afternoon, only unattended logs, so don´t know what caused the dropouts.
Simone
... but perfect again on both transmissions today.
Simone
Perfect reception! High signal strength > S9 40dB,
Sometimes fading and some AM-Signals +-5Khz.
Hello,
The first transmission was in AM (thanks, it was readable here !!) (13TU to 14 TU).
The second transmission was not readable, but in DRM !-)))
Best regards
Michel
(40 km from ISS)
Only AM on the first transmission :(
but perfect results on the second transmission in DRM :)
Simone
Two hours with perfect results today, signal a bit weaker in the second hour, also delay getting a slightly longer towards the end.
Simone
Problems on both transmissions today, both logs were unattended, I guess there were Tx problems during the first transmission (not using Mississippi in the first half hour), bad propagation conditions on the second one (sorry Jacques if I am wrong)
Simone
Good results on both transmissions, signal in the afternoon was not as strong and stable as in the morning.
Simone
Quite good results today on both transmissions.
Simone
Great results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Hi all,
perfect result again. The two dips in SNR are made from AM +- 5 KHz.
Best wishes to all for 2008 from my side , Andy !:)
Quite good results on the first transmission, a few minor dropouts on the second transmission today.

Only 4 Minutes of Logging at the end. Sadly I missed almost all of this Issoudun transmission with perfect > 36 dB reception at the Low-Cost SDR Testboard.
Good results for two hours today.
Simone
Very perfect reception for two hours today!
Nearly perfect results on both transmissions.
Bonne année 2008!
Simone
Hi Simone and All,
Thanks for your reports on TDP / TDF transmissions on 6015 kHz.
Happy New Year 2008 / bonne année 2008.
Jacques
Perfect results on the first transmission today, some dropouts when signal was weaker this afternoon.
Simone
Seems another transmitter was being used today, slightly better results again on the first transmission.
Simone
Hi Simone and All,
Mississippi Tx i use yesterday and E6 today (maintenance on Mississipi probably...)
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
obviously "Mississippi" was on back on duty today.
Pretty good results on the first transmission, a few minor problems on the second one.
Simone
Again on the first transmission a slightly stronger signal than in the afternoon.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
maybe there was a Tx problem today?
Simone
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Good results with lower SNR on the first transmission, also low SNR in the first half this afternoon with some problems, pretty good from 1528.
Simone
Good results on both transmissions.
Simone
Slightly better results on the first transmission.
Simone
Hi Simone and all,
You are right Simone, first transmission yesterday 10 January was stronger (53.9 dBµV) to compare with transmission on 9 January not exactly at the same time one hour early (47.5 dBµV). Explaination: yesterday, by mistake (happy one?), we transmitted with full power of 150 kW instead of 30 kW so a theoritical difference of 7 dB. No big impact on SNR but it could make a difference on an indoor reception with higher power.
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
thanks for the explanation, probably it would have worked with the Roberts MP40 in the basement on Jan 10th.
Perfect results on both transmissions today.
Simone
PS: Maybe you could "accidentally" use some more power on 3965 kHz :) !
Salut simone,
On 3965 kHz, the next step would be 150 kW or more using a nex solid-state DSM modulator in our Alliss called Gange but currently not possible to get more than 1 kW out from our 3CX 10 000 tube. May be using some non-linear pre-corrections it would be possible to double this power but this is only 3 dB!
Regards.
Jacques
Oops
Perfect results in the first transmission, using Mississippi I guess.
Good results at the start of the second hour using the other transmitter I guess, but problems for about half an hour then, quite strong signal, spectrum looked OK, no AM interference, maybe accidentally 2 transmitters on air?
Simone
Log about the first hour: good results.
Second hour is as good as the first so it's not so bad I have no report about this... :D
No problems today :)
Nearly perfect results for two hours.
Simone
I don´t know what caused the problems in the first half this afternoon, quite good for the rest of the time on both transmissions.
Simone
Good results on both transmissions.
Simone
Seems Mississippi was not on duty today :(
A weaker signal, lower SNR and a few dropout in the afternoon.
Simone
Peculiar log from early this afternoon. Could it have been that two DRM TX were on the air at the same time during the period of no decoded audio? The SNR improved dramatically after the sound came back.
...and here is the second lot for today. After 15:55 there are some QRP traces left.
Seems there was a problem at the beginning of the first transmission with Mississippi, then the other transmitter was used, probably Mississippi was back on air at 1337, good results in the last 15 minutes (probably Mississippi only or SFN?), also good results on the second transmission.
Simone
Great results for two hours today.
Simone
A dip at the beginning this morning and a weak signal in the last 5 minutes this afternoon, otherwise perfect results.
Simone
An unattended log. Despite a strong signal there were some problems in the beginning and up until 15:35, then it got better.
Perfect results this morning, looks like a delayed start this aftertoon and then changing the transmitter at 1514, some minor dropouts then, results improved in the last 15 minutes.
Simone
Lower SNR but pretty good results on both transmissions.
Simone
Perfect results on the first transmission, problems in the last minutes this afternoon.
Simone
Perfect on both transmissions, strong signal and higher MER again.
Simone
Strong and stable signal, perfect decoding on both transmissions.
Simone
Unattended, about half an hour. The problem at approx. 15:41 was most likely my machine doing some heavy-duty operations
Switched on and went for a walk.
Perfect decoding for two hours.
Simone
Two perfect logs from today.

Salut Jaques,
I can see your TX all day long!
Both TDP Radio transmissions were fine, but in between and also now after the second transmission the signal is still there with FAC and ID at about S9 +10dB.
Is this intentionally or a switching problem?
Two perfect logs again today.
@ Fritz: I also get the FAC all day, that´s a known problem.
Simone
@ Fritz: Look up post #415 and see the reason why. I get this QRPP TX here in Switzerland too.
Oops, forgot today's log.... 100% CDA. :) (100% Audio mute  )
Perfect on both transmissions again today.
Simone
Hello from Kuala Lumpur HFCC A08 next week!
Yes, it is a known operational problem in "Tx Stand-by" mode with a measured - 40 dB attenuation on carrier only (so about 15 Watts radiated into a quite good 2/2 antenna) and as FAC / QPSK is still applied to RF chain, you can see it. PSM modulator is blocked; no HV applied to final TH 558 tube but signal is passing through via parasitic capacitors; This is supposed to be inproved by my colleagues but not yet as you can see...
I have here in my suitcase an Himalaya 2009 receiver but I have not yet tried (and location here in Hilton hotel is not too nice) it but is there any DRM transmissions available here?
Regards / 73.

Salut Simone, Terje, Jacques,
thank you for the info, I had not yet noticed the problem before.
Jacques, here a simple solution: Your PA needs a better neutralization! :D ;)
For DRM signal to your region please check http://www.drm-dx.de/
Hi Jacques,
Try 13.590 MHz, seems to rain down in China... :D
PS: Which is better in case of Switzerland, Rwanda with 80 Watts (5600 km) into a GP or TDF 15Watts (470 km) with a pretty awesome antenna????????
Envy you in the warmth,
Salut Jacques,
perfect results here while you are away :)
Simone
Excellent results for 2 hours.
Simone
Problems in the first half this morning (maybe 2 Tx or AM?), also some dropouts this afternoon with lower SNR.

Perfect results again today.
Simone
An unattended log while I was out; therefore the TX standby got caught in the log.
An unattended log. Just before the end I noticed a break in the sound.
Got the same dropout here, otherwise perfect.
Simone
Great results as usual.

Hello La Liste,
Good results today, especialy during the second hour.

Perfect if my PC hadn't decided to load FlashPlayer 15 minutes before the end.
A problem at the start this morning, perfect later on both transmissions.
Simone
Two perfect logs again today.
Simone
... and again today.
Simone
Perfect decoding, but seems this was not Mississippi today :(
Simone
A 40+ minutes unattended log. The SNR topped 35.44 dB at 15:11 UTC.
Another perfect 2 hours log :)
Simone
Seems there was a problem at the start this afternoon, otherwise perfect results.
Simone
Stable reception in the morning.
Perfect decoding with limited SNR this morning, problems until using Mississippi again from 1524 this afternoon.
Simone
Unattended logs, not sure what caused the problems on both transmissions, maybe two Tx on air at the beginning of the second transmission?

Hi!
Here's 30 minutes of perfect reception with the HCJB Paperradio SDR prototype.
Stephan
Hi All!
FYI: this week, a new Alliss transmitter (called Nil) now operational was used as Mississipi was under maintenance but no visble difference between transmitters. Yes, some operating problems it seems but transmitter is OK.
Regards.
Jacques
Great results yesterday, assuming that was Nil then, I do not notice a difference between Nil and Mississippi :)
Simone
Hi Simone,
Nil and Mississipi have exactly the same performances in DRM so we have now 2 high power transmitters available from ISS. Old transmitters E5 and E6 will be seldomly used. For operational reasons, we will run Nil or Mississipi at a slightly higher power of 40 kW (about 1/4 of full DRM power or - 6 dB). It will not make a big difference in FS (about 1 dB).
Happy Easter.
Jacques
Salut Jacques, Happy Easter!
thanks for the update about your transmitters,
unfortunately there is a problem today, started OK but after a few minutes some problems and no decoding possible, now limited MER at about 20dB but still OK for audio decoding apart from a few minor dropouts.
Simone
... and here today´s results, decoding was quite good from 1418, despite the limited SNR.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
hi all,
Similar result here. Limited SNR to 20dB but good decoding !
Log start 1435 UTC.
Hello Simone, Andy and All,
I guess E6 transmitter was running today for some reason, instead of Nil!? Not bad however with limited SNR...
Jacques
Similar results as yesterday, using the DWT fo a change.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
same thing again this afternoon, good MER in the first 2 minutes, then again limited at about 20 dB, just at the limit to get audio ;)
Simone
... and here my results from this afternoon, hoping Tx problems will be solved by tomorrow.
Simone
Nice to see things were back to normal today :)
Simone
A very good result here too.
Transmission started a few minutes late this morning, good results then.
Simone
Hi Simone, Andy, Terje and All,
Following low SNR transmission problem we had this week-end, please find some infos below: there was a problem on our monitoring equipment associated to Mississipi transmitter (no audio feedback but in fact transmitter was OK so high SNR at the very begining) so colleagues in our operational centre decided to switch to a back-up transmitter which was E6 and unfortunately not Nil the other Alliss DRM compatible transmitter.
Sorry for that; thank you for your co-operation, regards.
Jacques
Hi Jacques,
good to hear the transmitters were OK, so just something went wrong with the monitoring.
Good results today on both broadcasts.
Simone
Some operational problems again at the start this afternoon? Otherwise good results on both transmissions.
Simone
A perfect 2 hours log for the start of the A08 season :)
Simone
Great results again today.
Simone
Looks like operational problems at the start of both transmissions today.
Simone
Hi,
Excellent result for the 22 minutes that I tuned in to TDP before close down at 15:56 UTC. Result: 100 % CDA, ' flat as a pancake'.
Received txt msg: Contact us at TDPradio, P.O. Box 1, 2310 Rijkevorsel, Belgium or visit our web site at www.tdpradio.com
BTW I checked the TDP homepage and wanted to compare my audio with the web stream. I however only got "unkown host" with winamp.
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Perfect results for the two hours today.
Simone
Perfect decoding here.:)
Good audio and a nice Music-Mix today.
Perfect results here too.
Simone
Great results this morning, one (TX related?) dip in the graph this afternoon.
Simone
A log from this afternoon.
An unattended log from this afternoon. I don't know what the interruption at 15:30 UTC was.
Perfect results on the first transmission, also a dip in my graphs this afternoon (same as Digger).
Simone
A log with perfect results.
Two perfect logs today.
Simone
Quite low SNR on the first transmission yesterday.
Simone
Hi all,
Olly 30' but quite good.
Jos.
Perfect results for both hours.
Simone
Good result again!
Log start 1445 UTC.
Perfect results for two hours today.
Simone
One deep dip this morning, afternoon transmission stopped a bit early, otherwise pretty good results as usual.
Simone
Quite low SNR (not using Mississippi or Nil?) on both transmissions today, just good enough for audio decoding.
Simone

Very good on 49m, as always signal still visible and FAC still decodeable after the end of transmission, SNR ~ 7 dB.
The RX was running without AGC ( switched off) today. Unattended log.
Back to normal SNR today, pretty good results on both transmissions.
Simone
Sometimes deep fading today. Also weak AM-Signal on -5/0/+5 KHz.
Minor audio drop-outs. I´ve tested both rx.
Perfect results today for two hours, since some days the second transmission stops a bit early.

Short and good! :)
Something changed:
The signal was really gone after the end of transmission.
Bad conditions or upgrade?
Great results as usual on both transmissions.
Simone
Quite good results, one deep dropout at the beginning of the first transmission, still second transmission stops a bit early.
Simone
Two perfect logs today.
Simone
Log start 1438 UTC. Perfect decoding, good SNR average with 32,86 dB .
Another perfect two hours log.
Simone
Perfect result here. :)
Good SNR average with 32,3 dB SNR.
Good results on both transmissions, still the second transmission stops a bit early.

Perfect result today :) !
Unattended log.
Again perfect! 100%Audio, 99,99 % MSC/FAC/Sync. Great result  !
Great results here too.
Simone
An another perfect result ! A bit local interference here today. SNR average in two hours 33dB.
HI Simone, Fritz, Andy and All,
Thanks for reports, I have been away for a few days.
It is quite normal that TDP transmission stops at 1557 UTC as we have an other transmission for TDP in AM starting at 1600 UTC on an other frequency and direction.
Regards / 73.
Jacques
Thanks Jacques for the details on the schedule.
Great results for 2 hours today.
Simone
Perfect results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Good logging as mostly always from ISS. ISS down here, not ISS up there :D
Good results as usual on both transmissions.
Simone
Great results as usual.
Simone
Perfect results this afternoon.
Simone
An unattended log. Very good until 15 minutes before close-down, when some kind of near-channel interference started.
The signal here was more stable. In SNR from 1530 UTC starting, the same interference as in Digger´s Log is visible. But no problem with decoding here.
No such problems noticed here.
Simone
One dip just before the end of the transmission, might have been a local problem.
Simone
Hi all,
today a mix of shaky conditions, a bit local interference and little thunderstorm southeast of my location. The first 10 Min. a weak signal here. For this all a good result.
SNR average 28,34 dB, 99,96 % decoded Audio
Hi all,
the conditions on 49m-Band wasn´t stable this afternoon. Nevertheless a perfect result here. :)
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Two perfect logs today.
Simone
Some problems just before the end of the transmission this afternoon.
Simone
Nearly perfect results on both transmissions again today.
Simone
Again two perfect hours today.
Simone
The only dip for the two hours was probably a Rx problem.
Simone
Even if I zoom the part around 15:52, I don't think it was TX related. It must have been something else.
Hi,
Too low frequency for me, despite that I got 71 % CDA.
Listening time: 15:10-15:56 UTC. Some of the received txt msg: "Contact us at TDPradio, P.O. Box 1, 2310 Rijkevorsel, Belgium or visit our web site at www.tdpradio.com"
Signal not as strong and stable as usual this morning.
Simone
Slightly better signal in the afternoon again.
Simone
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Not so good results on both transmissions today.
Sorry Jacques, only unattended logs, so no idea what caused the problems.
Simone
Better results today, a few minor dropouts in the first hour, perfect decoding in the second hour after there was a break in transmission around 1500.
Simone
Hi Simone and All,
It seems obvious that there was a transmitter change at 1500 UTC; the second part of transmission was far better in term of SNR.
Regards / 73.
Jacques (back to Paris)
Salut Jacques,
sorry did not have time to post results this past week, in general signal on the first transmission was not as strong and stable as the second one. Always a few dropouts on the first transmission, perfect decoding on the 1500- 1600 slot.
Results from yesterday attached.
Simone
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Pretty wild ongoings here this afternoon with a very wavy SNR. I don't know what the three breaks in the beginning was - I just noticed that the noise stopped for a brief moment a couple of times.
TDPradio in AM today...!?
Back to two hours DRM this week, signal was somewhat weaker in the first 45 minutes, perfect results later apart from a Rx/ PC related dropout at my end!
Simone
Seems there was a Tx problem for about 10 minutes on the morning transmission, perfect results this afternoon.
Simone
No problems today on both transmissions.
Simone
Stronger signal and better results in the afternoon.
Simone
Good results on the first transmission, probably some Tx problems this afternoon, quite good again from 1513.

Tx problems on both transmissions, apart from that quite good results.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
what happened, this used to be one of the most reliable transmissions but again problems today, before 1500 it seemed like there were 2 transmitters on air, for a short time also an AM carrier visible. :(
Simone
Two perfect logs today :)
Simone
Hello,
No so good here, but I'm still to close to Issoudun. I had the same effect as Simone : during 15 mn, the SNR dropped to a low value.

Michel
The main log is the "normal" FRG-7700 Receiver, the compare bit was taken with the Roadstar / Telescopic Ant. / ACER Laptop. Perfect reception.
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
I can't explain the break around 15:25 UTC. It seemed to me that everything was all right, except that the S-Meter showed a stronger signal during the break. The Shifted PSD looked OK with a clean spectrum, but SNR was down and the err... music became interrupted.
Maybe there were two Tx on air around 1525? Perfect for the rest of the time on both transmissions.
Simone
Perfect reception. Only lost 2 MSC, that was all.
Good results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Excellent results today :)
Simone
Great results for 2 hours, the two dips were an Rx related problem.
Simone
Perfect decoding, but am I the only one who thinks that the modulation level is 10-15 dB too high almost all the time? With that kind of music format, distortion is not much of a problem, but anyway... ;)
Excellent results today, I agree the audio level is about at least 10 dB too high, but audio quality seems OK.
Simone
Lots of lightning punched holes in the log this afternoon.
I don't know what caused the break just before 1532.
Dropouts on both transmissions looked like Tx problems to me.

Good results on both transmissions today, mode A this afternoon (btw wrong label at the start) woirked much better than I would have expected, higher audio bitrate and good audio quality this aftertoon.
Simone
Only a short log with the Roadstar. Some problems towards the very end.
Seems mode A was only for one transmission, good results in mode B as usual today.
Simone
Good results as usual.
Simone
Great results for two hours today, the only dropout caused by a PC/ Rx problem.
Simone
Looks like a Tx related problem in the first 15 minutes this morning, perfect for the rest of the time on both transmissions.
