View Full Version : 6015 kHz TDP from Issoudun
Perfect results again.
Simone
Quite good apart from a Tx break.
Simone
Once again perfect results.
Simone
surprisingly high snr and a tx break.
Quite good apart from the Tx break.
Simone
Perfect results today.
Simone
Maybe some Tx problems today?
Simone
Once again perfect results today.
Simone
Perfect results, except a TX break just before the end. Lower SNR today.
Even more perfect than yesterday.
There was a five minutes break at 15:20. After the break, the the SNR was higher than before. Also the signalstrength was higher after the break. Good mix today.
HI Carsten and All,
Yes we had a problem on one transmitter (lower SNR than usual) and we switched to the other transmitter which has a higher SNR.
Regards / 73.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
also noticed the TX break and difference in SNR today, similar results as Carsten.
Simone
Salut Simone, Carsten and All,
Thanks for sending valuable reports on TDP Radio transmission from Issoudun (France mainland).
FYI, since beginning of this afternoon today 9 May, from Rennes (Britany; western part of France) we are transmitting 24 / 7 (or we hope so!!!) on 59.5 MHz in DRM 20 kHz (waiting for DRM + equipment) with a nominal power of 150 W into a "panel" antenna: vertical dipole in front of a reflector (about 4 dBd gain) to the West to 100 m asl.
I wonder if somebody will manage to receive our Band 1 transmission thanks to Sporadic E or other exotic propagation? Reports will be highly appreciated.
Regards / 73.
Jacques Gruson
Salut Jacques,
pretty good results again today.
Good luck with the band I transmissions!
Simone
Quite good again yesterday.
Once more, a perfect reception.
A really good house mix today!
Perfect apart from what looks like a Tx break.
Simone
Salut Simone, Carsten and All,
Thanks for good reports on our 6015 kHz TDP Radio transmission from Issoudun .
Regards / 73.
Jacques
Good results but lower SNR than usual.
Simone
Again limited SNR, but good results.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
MER should not decrease any further, was limited at 18dB today, just about good enough for decoding :)
Simone
Salut Simone et Tous,
Yes Simone, you are right... We had a problem this week-end on our transmitter: it seems that the PA tube is KO. Today, we will transmit using the other DRM transmitter.
Regards.
Jacques
I can measure an instant SNR of up to 32 dB in Paris; conditions seem to be very good today on short range; 100% decoding.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
seems conditions were not so good for me today, but anyway SNR improved :)
Simone
Bad results, some problems today, also a Tx break.
Simone
Better results and no problems today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
a few minor dropouts in my unattended log (maybe due to distant thunderstorms?).
Simone
Better SNR today, but a lot of minor dropouts.
Simone
Several dropouts today.
Simone
Great results today :)
Simone
Not so good here today.
Mostly unattended log.
Probably without preamp on rx result is better. Additional local ie and strong AM-Signal on 6025. Audio sounds hot ;)
An absolute perfect reception today. And great music mix today. Very good sound quality. That is how DRM should be!
Perfect results here too.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
once again perfect results today.
Simone
Good result, but no so stable like Frankfurt/Main area the days before.
Mostly unattended log. Audio is ok.
Salut Jacques,
pretty good results again today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
any problems today? Seems transmission started a few minutes late and then a limited SNR on the transmission.
Simone
Salut Simone,
Yes problem on transmitter today; in fact with DRM exciter and then too much drive to the transmitter > lower SNR than usual. It will be fixed tomorrow.
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
problems solved, perfect results today :)

sorry, late again...
Salut Jacques,
again problems? I noticed some Tx breaks today :(
Simone
Salut Simone,
Yes, problem on our second transmitter (one PA tube needs to be changed); alsos some local storm yesterday?
Today transmission on our first transmitter and during the whole week-end...
Regards.
Jacques
Hi Jacques,
quite good reception today.
Salut Jacques,
thunderstorms caused a few minor droputs in the first half, still quite good results.
Simone
Great results again today, no problems and no thunderstorms :)
Simone
Pretty good results apart from a short sync loss (Tx problem?) at 1520.
Simone
Perfect results today.
Simone
Bad results today, looked like Tx problems at the beginning, later heavy thunderstorms around here.
Simone
Bad results at the beginning, perfect from 15:20.

...no new cd for the car. :(
Salut Jacques,
problems with the transmitter again? transmission ended quite early :(
Simone
Quite good in the first half, but then Tx probloems again :(
Simone
Salut Jacques,
no problems today :)
Simone
Salut Simone,
Thanks for report.
Yes we had problems this week-end on transmitter; no back-up available as the other transmitter was used for another transmission on 6175 kHz as your perfectly know, using an omnidirectional antenna.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
nearly perfect results in the second half today after problems had been solved.
Simone
Pretty good results today.
Simone
A weaker signal in the first 12 minutes, great results from 15:15.
Simone
Perfect results today.
Simone
A few problems in the first minutes, then perfect results again.
Simone
I did not watch it in the first half, seems there was no transmission? Good results only in the last 10 minutes.
Simone
No problems today :)

Salut Jacques,
as it was a test transmission I post my results here and not in a new thread, Simone please move it if needed.
TX Mississipi is a good one, SNR peaking just below 40dB when I started here! :)
SNR was varying a lot as the impulse response changed a lot over time, so a good "DRM antenna" seems to be important.
Your system clock was far ahead.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Salut Fritz,
Thanks for nice report, it was a transmission to Rennes / Britany at 290° not to Germany!!!
See you later.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
I missed the special transmission, sorry,
good results and an improved SNR on the regular transmission today.
Simone

09-08-2007, 19:09
Salut Jacques,
I see... if that was with a directional antenna probably backscatter was the problem.
Good clean signal anyway.
Hi Simone, Fritz and all,
Yesterday afternoon, we used Mississipi "Alliss" transmitter / antenna from Issoudun for TDP transmission. That's why SNR was higher (better SNR at the source, nearly 40 dB and more power: 150 instead of 30 kW! into a 2/2/.5 antenna).
On an other topic, do you have any info regarding the use of WinRadion G313E plus DReaM (indeed without using WinRadio DRM pay software)?. How to get I / Q of low IF output from this receiver?
Regards / 73.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
will email you some information about the Winradio later.
Simone
Thanks in anticipation Simone...
Jacques
FritzWue
10-08-2007, 15:41
Salut Jacques,
I only have a G303i, and with this it is easy tuning with the winradio software and decoding with a separate software, but that will probably be more complicated with the external and advanced G313e model.
Back to normal SNR today, not sure what caused the few dips, maybe Tx related?
Simone
Salut and hi!
Not perfect today, but still good reception.
88,6 % CDA, some drop-outs at the end.
Kind regards
Great results as usual.
Simone
Unattended log. Good result !
The max. SNR written in DReaM Logtext is 26 db. 36.1 db is incorrect.

Perfect results, but I had to stop the log earlier today.
Simone
PS: Jacques, did you get my emails?
Thanks Simone; sorry I did not get your emails!? Plesae do not use my TDF address as I am still on holidays until 20 August.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
hope you got the emails this afternoon.
Perfect results on today´s transmission.

Simone
Only an unattended log, seems there was a problem in the first ten minutes.
Simone
Low and limited SNR, but perfect results.
Looked like a Tx problem causing the dropout yesterday, nearly perfect results today.
Simone
Maybe again a Tx problem today?
Simone
Perfect results and higher SNR than usual (using the other transmitter today?)
Simone
Yes, Simone, you are right: Mississipi transmitter was used today for TDP DRM transmission.
I hope indoor reception is possible under such conditions. We will keep on transmitting this way until the end of this week.
Regards.
Jacques
Hi Jacques,
hallo Simone,
here in south-east Germany a very good result,too. :)
Salut Jacques,
excellent results again today, also no problem receiving the signal with the Roberts MP40 indoors.
Simone
Again a very good result.
Hi Jacques,
perfect again and a good audio.:)
Salut Jacques,
perfect results again today.
Simone
Strong signal, excellent results :)
Simone
Salut Jacques,
excellent results after what looked like some Tx problems at the beginning.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
i start the log 10 min. earlier today.
Again a top result !
Perfect results again today.
Simone
Problems in the first 15 Min.
The signal strengh at this time on S-Meter was always around S9+30 and more !
Last 45 Min. very good result.
As I enjoyed the transmission "vers la suisse" this afternoon, I got stuck here. Here is a log for just half an hour. The SNR was very high, so was the signal strength - almost 2 mV into my 11 meter wire strung over the lawn in the garden.
But: What was on the frequency after 16 UTC? "Pop Music, English, ID:E06021" with SNR around 6-8 dB and AM in the middle?...
Problems like two days ago at the beginning, then excellent results.
Simone
Problems at the start, then perfect results.
Simone
SNR Peak 38.8 dB today.
I used Dream 1.10.4 instead 1.6.42.
Solid and stable Signal.
Very good again ! :)
No problems, perfect results yesterday.
Simone
... and pretty good results again today.
Simone
Perfect!
A 3 db higher SNR at start and in second half.
Hi all,
Results for today.
Jos.
Good results again today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
unfortunately Tx problems today :(
Simone
Here the Log starts 1440 UTC unattended.
I was back 1620 UTC.
No audio and lower SNR as the days before.
Between 1600 and 1700 UTC perfect reception here.
Hi Simone, Andy and all!
I am afraid it does not help to have two DRM transmitters (non-synchronised) running at the same time, except in SFN. Unfortunately, that was the case! So it was an operational problem, not transmitter related...
Apologises.
Jacques
OK, so just one transmitter today - perfect results ;)
Simone
Yes Simone, you are right: only one transmitter running today but not Mississipi as it is and will be used all this week for different DRM transmissions:
- on 6175 kHz 1200 - 1700 UTC to SW of France and NW of Spain on 8, 9 and 12 October,
- on 15795 kHz 0700- 1500 UTC to Moscow and Beijing on 10 and 11 October.
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jaques,
good results today, also on 6175 kHz, will post those results later.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
some problems today?
Simone
Perfect results today.
Simone
An unattended log, seemed there was a small problem at the start, then perfect results.
Simone
A report from France.
No comment. Good music in stereo !
Best regards
Michel
A problem in the beginning yesterday, perfect results today.
Simone
A few minor dropouts today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
quite good results on the regular transmission, no audio decoding on the previous transmission all day until 15.00 , what´s the target area of that transmission?
Simone
A weak signal later this evening.
Simone
A weak signal all day until the start of the scheduled transmission, good results then.
Simone
Nearly perfect results today.
Simone
Salut Simone and All,
Good remark! I think I have an explaination regarding some low-power transmissions outside of 1500-1600 UTC for TDP Radio: our transmitter was left in stand-by and not blocked so some RF could leak; I wonder which level of power, may be a few Watts? We could call it DRM QRP. No audio programme was applied to the transmitter except during 1500-1600 UTC.
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
thanks for the explanation, that´s interesting, so probably really only a few Watts all day, actually never got more than the FAC information decoded.
Simone
Perfect results today.
Simone
... and again today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
some problems today, good results from 15:15.
Btw I noticed a special transmission for Geneva earlier today, good reception but audio problems when I tried to listen, is that a regular transmission?
Simone
Salut Simone and all,
Yes, we switched from one transmitter to an other but it was not a real problem as transmitter was running OK from the beginning as I can see from your chart (control problem?)!?
Today, we transmitted a bit earlier on 6015 kHz; this was targetting Geneva / WRC 07 but we had some problems with audio but it is OK now. so this will be a more or less regular transmission from 1200 to 1400 local time until friday 2 november except during week-end.
Regards.
Jacques
Thanks Jacques for the information,
SNR was better than usual on the special transmission , so I guess you are using Mississippi for that transmission.
Hopefully no more audio problems then from tomorrow!
Two screenshots from today attached.
Simone
I wonder what Jacques was up to on this Tuesday from about 10-13 UTC...
It was a specail transmission, only for you Terje.... HI!
Seriuosly, colleagues in ISS doing some tests.
Watch 6015 kHz 1200 -1400 local time: transmission to Geneva / WRC 07.
Regards.
Jacques
Perfect results from the beginning today.
Simone
Thank you Simone.
Yesterday, I confirm that we had a problem with one of our transmitters as one HF2 tube (driver tube) died a few minutes after start (SNR was already a bit lower) and we needed to switch to the other transmitter.
Regards.
Jacques
Thanks Jacques,
no problems today :)
Simone
Hello,
Good reception near the transmitter.
Best regards
Michel
Salut Jacques,
great results, probably you were using Mississippi today?
Btw, the same problem as last weekend occured again!
Simone
Salut Simone and All,
You are perfectly right Simone, B07 is starting from today and we have scheduled to use mainly Mississipi now for TDP transmissions.
Jacques (from South-West of France)
Great that you are using Mississippi for the TDP transmission, excellent results :)
(Currently still a weak signal, FAC information gets decoded)
Perfect results again today.
Simone
A few minor dropouts at the end.
Simone
Agree with Simone; slightly unstable towards the very end. How big are these DJ:s really? I did not notice a single DJ this afternoon. Not much variation in the - music (?) either... Oooops.
Perfect results today.

Hi All TDP Radio listeners!
Important notice: starting from Monday 12 November, we will keep on transmitting 1500-1600 UTC 6015 kHz but another "slippy" transmission will be done, also on 6015 kHz, as follows:
- on Mondays: 0800-0900 UTC,
- on Tuesdays: 0900-1000 UTC,
- on Wednesdays: 1000-1100 UTC,
- on Thursdays: 1100-1200 UTC,
- on Fridays: 1200-1300 UTC,
- on Saturdays: 1300-1400 UTC,
- on Sundays: 1400-1500 UTC (so 1400-1600 UTC with the usual transmission).
Good reception, regards.
Jacques Gruson / TDF
Salut Jacques,
thanks for the information.
Perfect results again today.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
100 % decoded Audio. :)
The Signal has much more up and downs as in September or October here.
Now we can see (and hear) it is good to have a "backup" in a 36 db SNR-Signal!
Fine audio quality!
Salut Jacques,
seems there was a problem with "Mississippi" this morning, perfect results again this afternoon.
Btw just noticed, transmitted time on 3965 kHz is still a few minutes wrong.
Simone
Salut Simone and all!
Very interesting indeed! Yes, we had a co-ordination problem: we started transmitting at 0800 UTC using Mississipi then it was stopped in Issoudun for maintenance (not on scheduler) and back on the air at 0826 UTC using E6 linearised transmitter running the same power but not the same SNR which could be somewhat better than 22 dB. The afternoon transmission was using Mississipi; no need to say that.
Tomorrow 0900-1000 UTC and 1500-1600 UTC for TDP Radio.
Regards.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
perfect results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Perfect reception this morning here.
I wonder how much power reaches the antenna after the regular transmission? Interesting.
Good reception. Not perfect. ;)
Good results this morning, but seems there was a problem in the last ten minutes this morning.
Perfect results this afternoon.
Simone
Yes, there was no sound from 10:50 until the TX went off the air. It was nice and quiet instead. ;)
Good results on both transmissions, obviously not using "Mississippi" this morning.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
only an unattended log, so don´t know what caused the low SNR and the problems. Currently normal results on the regular transmission.
Simone
Excellent results from the regular transmission.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
strong signal but nothing decoded on the extra hour, good results on the regular transmission.
Simone
Salut Jacques, Hello Simone,
In fact the first transmission was on AM. It was interesting to heard the difference with DRM modulation !! Problem with the modulator ??
Simone, You were more lucky than me because I lost the audio 11 minutes after the start of the regular transmission. The signal was still present but not strong enough !
Have good receptions
Regards
Michel
Hello All,
Not better today than yesterday for both transmissions.
Next time, may be !!
Best regards
Michel (at 40 km from the transmitter !!!)
2 hrs of perfect reception, except one minute around 15:30 UTC with some dropouts.
Quite good results for two hours today with a few minor dropouts around 1500.
@ Michel: Thanks for confirming that it was AM in the first hour yesterday.
Simone
Good almost until the end, when the signal dropped rapidly and there was just a faint DRM signal in a very splattery environment.
Perfect results this morning.
Simone
Good results this morning , a few dropouts at the beginning this afternoon, looks like it was not Mississippi today :(
Simone
Salut Simone,
You are right, Mississipi was under maintenance today...
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
perfect decoding this morning, a weaker signal in the last 15 minutes this afternoon.
Simone
Excellent results this morning, a few dropouts in the last 10 minutes this afternoon .
Simone
Great results on the first transmission today, sorry Jacques, did not log in the afternoon.
Simone
Yes, the first transmission was on AM today !!
Between S9+10 to S9+20
Regards
Michel
Salut Jacques,
is the extra transmission scheduled as an AM transmission on Saturdays? It was the same last weekend.
Good results (using Mississippi), except the last ten minutes, dropouts due to interference.
Simone
Perfect results for two hours.
Btw there is still a weak signal now.
Simone
Very difficult during two hours !!!!!
And it seems to be "cyclic". I checked the frequency and I did not find any interference (AM stations ...).
Propagation effect at short distance (40 km) ?? May be !
Regards
Michel
Hi All,
Apologies for Saturdays 17 and 24 November: there was a "bug" in our weekly and a bit complicated scheduler on Saturdays (AM declarated instead of DRM). Watch out next Saturday...
To Michel near Bourges: may be a problem between direct ground wave and some back-scatter wave? What about 3965 kHz reception?
Regards.
Jacques
Thanks, Jacques.
Perfect results on both transmissions today.
Simone
Hello Jacques,
Yes, may be a propagation problem.
Reception on 3965 kHz was good. Next week-end I will try to make a long report on this frequency (from 08TU to 18TU - end of transmission).
Best regards
A bientôt
73 QRO de Michel F-10300
Another day with perfect results on both transmissions.
Simone
Perfect resultst his morning, a weak signal in the last 10 minutes this afternoon.
Simone
Salut Jacques,
just unattended logs today,
seems some problems at the start of the first transmission, looks also like some Tx related problems this afternoon and bad results in the last 15 minutes, probably interference again (was the same in yesterday´s logfile).
Simone
Yeah, some co-channel QRM hits like a bomb here.
A short log just out of interest why one cannot hear TDP until the end of the transmission. That co-channel QRM is VOR heating up its TX on (yes) 6013.75 kHz (a bit unstable there as well) and transmitting an intermittent test tone. It is easy to see in the Waterfall and the Input Spectrum in Dream.
The blue arrow in the second picture is the TDP 12 kHz center. To the left one can clearly see the VOR carrier, "A" without modulation and "B" modulated with a tone.
Perfect results on the first transmission (not in AM mode this week:))
But again interference in the last ten minutes of the regular transmission.
Simone
... and here is a screenshot showing the MER plot with the interferer.
Simone
Hi All,
Thanks for interesting coments; Ludo should complain to VOR about this interference...
Have a nice week-end.
Jacques
Salut Jacques,
unattended log a bit later.
When log starts, a small co-channel interferece to become noticeable here.
After 1545 UTC also here some problems, but not so clear as in the log from Simone and Terje.
Good results for two hours today until the end.
Simone
Bad results on both transmissions today :(
(maybe Tx problems this morning, also again interference towards the end)
Simone
Quite good results this morning except a deep dip at the start, not so good this afternoon (not using Mississippi then)

Pefect results on both transmissions today.

Another day with two perfect transmissions :)
Simone
Salut Jacques,
today a little experiment with my Yaesu FT 840 and 15m longwire.
After local sunset the signal from Issoudun is very strong. My RX is without manual RF-Gain adjustment. Therefore i have a adjusted my pi-match. That´s why the SNR looks so bumpy. Next time i change the rx. ;)
100 % decoding, not a single dropout. Perfect!
Salut Jacques,
great results continued today :)
Simone
... and again today.
Simone
Not perfect today, some problems at the start this morning, also not as strong and stable as usual in the first half this afternoon.
Simone
Perfect except for the last few minutes when co-channel QRM popped up. No sound during the last few minutes.
Perfect results this afternoon using the DWT.
Simone
Hard times on 49m-Band after local sunset.
The input PSD Window was showing a signal like an oceanwave around 1530 UTC.
But for all that a very good result.:)
A few dropouts on the first transmission, nearly perfect results on the second one.
@ Jacques: Again still received the FAC today, Tx still in stand-by?
Simone
Pretty good except a weaker signal from 1515- 1545.
