View Full Version : RNZI on 6095 kHz
Hi All
I noted a weak DRM signal on 6095 kHz from 0800 tune-in to 0827 UTC today.
It was too weak to decode any service id, but language shows as "English" with "ID:36"
I presume this is RNZI.
Signal moved to 7145 kHz at 0827 UTC.
Cheers, Chris
Hi All
Here's the latest news from Adrian @ RNZI
Cheers, Chris
DRM test transmissions from RNZI are now on these frequencies:
1850-0700 UTC 13730 kHz [0650-1900 NZT]
0700-1850 UTC 6095 kHz [1900-0750 NZT]
All going well we will publish a DRM schedule later this week to take
effect from Sunday 4 June.
Feedback on reception quality good or bad will be most helpful !!

hi all,
Thsi is PNG file of last night in Japan.
Only sync .....
The signal was not strong and bit QRM.
Hi All
Here is my log of 6095 kHz for the first part of this evening. Signal was good at sign-on, but is very poor now (10:30 UTC). It is RNZI, not RTL as appears in the graph! Something went wrong using DRMDisco to start the logging.
Cheers, Chris

I only had a few minutes to try for RNZI before leaving for work, but was pleasantly surprised to get good reception.

Hi all,
I think RNZI was testing on 6095KHZ at-
around 19:20 on 07/06/2006.
The signal was very strong about S-9.
But There was very heavy QRM on 6090KHZ.
So very few audio.

Got several hours of 6095 recorded this (local) morning. Lots of ups and downs, not all that great. Completely inaudible at log's end, saw no purpose in running it any more.

I setup on the frequency about an hour early, as I wanted to call it an early night. Overall, not good for 6095 in the southwest US, at least with my setup.
Nothing heard on 7145 later, nor on 9440 at the current time.

I was up late and set the computer up to record 6095 all night. Not very successful I'm afraid.

See the log for all the gory details. It always gets good when I'm asleep, and never when I'm awake.

Superb signal at 0945 UTC here in Detroit, MI using TenTec RX-350, Butternut 80/40 vertical antenna, and DRM Software Radio 2.0.34. Very few dropouts SNR ranged from 17.0 to 17.9 dB. Sorry, I don't know how to create a .PNG logfile.....
This morning's report for 6095 Khz. A lot of adjacent channel interference caused reception problems.
Sorry, I don't know how to create a .PNG logfile.....
Create a .txt logfile using the DRMSWR's logging capability (or Dream's) and use Carsten's (carknue) DRMCalc program to plot it out on screen and save it as a png file.

Not good at all. Was up late, and let the computer run with 6095 all night. Dr. Scott being only 5 kHz below RNZI is not conducive to good reception at my QTH. 73's to all!
Today's 6095 kHz reception report (unattended).
As Brendan1 mentioned the religious station dominates the frequency and RNZI reception is impossible until it is off air (at about 09:45).

hi all,
I got few audio this evening.
Today's reception report (unattended as I went to bed!).
I decided to monitor 6095 kHz for the whole night. There was strong interference  at the start of the monitoring period (and most probably during the middle) by the religious broadcast from Anguilla on 6090 kHz (The Caribbean Beacon).
As the RNZI transmission is scheduled to start at 06:50, the couple of hours of signal shown beginning at about 04:00 are probably the RTL transmission (which sometimes can be received here at that time).

Today's reception report. Looks like the adjacent channel interference was much worse then yesterday.
Here is my overnight capture. Looks like 1300-1430z were ok, otherwise yuck

This is PNG file of last evening in Japan.
The modulation has been changed to-
16QAM from 64QAM.
So I was able to get audio very easy.

hi all,
these are PNG files of this evening.
The first PNG file is compring today's 64QAM-
signal with yesterday's 16QAM signal at same time.
I think there was interference of Radio Japan-
on 6090KHZ.

Too much QRM as usual here in North America for a good report. I do hope this frequency works better out in the Pacific area time zones for the local stations picking it up there for rebroadcast...
This morning's (unattended) 6095 kHz reception report. The first two SNR blips (at 4:34) are probably RTL.;)
Co-channel interference, as Brendan mentioned, causes the most trouble to reception. The signal starts to drop off at 11:00 as predicted by propagation forecasts.

Tail end of my reception time, early morning local time, until fade out.
Hello,
I just wanted to listen to RTL on 6095 - but RNZI is stronger at the moment!!!! Language display is sporadically changing from English to German and also the ID but never the station name to RTL.
Bernd, DF9RB
Lucky guy!
No chance here in the north: RTL is as strong as usual (approx. 26 dB)
after 15:00 it begins to look grim...
