The band isn't quite open for me when this broadcast happens. :(
Brendan1
14-09-2008, 16:12
I really shouldn't gripe: conditions were excellent last evening.
Brendan1
15-09-2008, 16:41
Not that great last night, not sure why. The band does trail off, which is counter to recent conditions, so something 'solar' may have caused the early closure.
Brendan1
16-09-2008, 16:41
Terrible log, things weren't very good last night. Off until Friday, away from it all for a couple of days.
Brendan1
19-09-2008, 06:18
Again, not very good reception tonight. Not sure what's causing the lousy conditions.
Brendan1
20-09-2008, 17:50
A singularly negative log.
Brendan1
22-09-2008, 17:55
Quite poor reception last night.
Brendan1
23-09-2008, 19:01
Not so good, once again: very problematic. :(
Brendan1
24-09-2008, 06:30
Another evening, another poor log. Will it ever end? :(
Brendan1
25-09-2008, 16:35
Maintenance night in Rangitaiki.
Brendan1
26-09-2008, 16:53
Not great, but the last hour or so looks to have been pretty good.
Brendan1
27-09-2008, 17:38
The first 40 minutes were good, not great, but the rest of the transmission was excellent.
Brendan1
28-09-2008, 16:48
Rather 'mixed' conditions last night, not great if you want to actually listen to the broadcast.
Brendan1
29-09-2008, 16:37
A good beginning, a good end, and not much in between. :(
Brendan1
30-09-2008, 18:42
The PC locked up, so this log segment picks up after I rebooted.
Brendan1
01-10-2008, 16:25
A bit of a dip part way through, but otherwise very good. Better than normal in fact. :D
Brendan1
02-10-2008, 06:26
Nothing tonight: looks like there was some transmitter maintenance.
Brendan1
03-10-2008, 16:50
Not all that good I'm afraid to say.
Brendan1
04-10-2008, 17:11
Not much listening last night. :(
Brendan1
06-10-2008, 16:33
Not bad, although there are some big hits showing on the log.
Brendan1
07-10-2008, 16:49
So-so last evening, fairly sporadic signal levels. :o
Brendan1
08-10-2008, 16:48
I'll be extending this log until 0457 now that the schedule is changing. It might get better now that it goes later, but we'll have to wait and see.
Brendan1
09-10-2008, 16:45
I surprised myself with how long I received the signal last night: rather better than I expected.
Brendan1
10-10-2008, 16:54
Not as good or as long as the 9th's log.
Brendan1
11-10-2008, 16:48
Even though decoding dropped out about half-way, the signal level remained at a fairly good level, so conditions were improved (which is always a good thing!).
Brendan1
12-10-2008, 16:59
In spite of (or perhaps because of) yesterday's solar storm, reception actually ended up being excellent.
Brendan1
13-10-2008, 16:33
Yeeesh, from feast to famine! Conditions sure dropped out last night.
Brendan1
14-10-2008, 06:24
Everything is still in the doldrums here: terrible signal levels. This might never improve.
Brendan1
15-10-2008, 16:20
So-so conditions. The dip was overpowering...
Brendan1
16-10-2008, 16:43
Hmmm, xmitter maintenance last evening... :(
Brendan1
17-10-2008, 17:00
A big dip halfway through the log. It really dropped out there.
Brendan1
18-10-2008, 17:11
A very big dropout from which my log never recovered. This does not bode well for 17675 starting after today: most likely too high for me.
Alan Johnson
06-07-2009, 05:05
Steady reception starting about two hours before local sunset.
Hi all.
Small part of audio in this test log only 7min very low signal.
Brendan1
10-11-2010, 12:20
A brief opening last night. Not all that great I'm afraid to say.
SNR peaked to 9.94 dB but no audio decoding.
Tiny SNR trace at the end.
Brendan1
11-11-2010, 15:55
Nearly nothing here either.
Brendan1
12-11-2010, 14:03
Not getting much here still. I would certainly hope the target area has better luck than I...
A little audio decoding at the end. Looks like the transmitter closed 10 minutes early.
Signal picked up during the last half, but just a tiny bit of audio decoded.
Brendan1
13-11-2010, 13:59
This log is where propagation got really screwy last night. I did not expect reception this good, not at all, when compared to the previous nights since the seasonal changeover. SFI85. A16, K1 at 0600.
Perfect reception. This log has the highest SNR of recent memory for me, most of the time 19dB +/- is about it. But 20+ on a broadcast I usually don't get at all?
SNR peaked to 9.84 dB but no audio decoded.
Brendan1
14-11-2010, 14:08
Very good once again, although not perfect with a little fading throughout the period.
Brendan1
15-11-2010, 12:19
Quite good last night, another surprise here. The CDA was 89%. :)
SNR peaked to 11.10 dB and there was a slight trace of audio - 0.09%!
Brendan1
16-11-2010, 12:30
Excellent reception, but it looks like they closed 10 minutes early.
SNR peaked to 12.20 dB; there was very little audio decoded and yes the transmission appears to have ended 10 minutes early.
Brendan1
17-11-2010, 12:31
The 10 minute early closure was repeated - I'm amending my logger schedule to cover for it.
Perfect reception by the way, 94% with the gap.
The overnight reception - only 2.25% audio.
Brendan1
18-11-2010, 12:25
Poor last night, I received almost nothing.
The overnight reception report - 13.91% audio.
Brendan1
19-11-2010, 13:33
I did only slightly better than you, Zyg.
Logger received no signal.
Brendan1
20-11-2010, 15:44
Perfect, as long as you discount the early closure at 0640.
Logger received no signal.
Brendan1
21-11-2010, 16:38
Next to nothing last night, only some brief spikes on the log.
Brendan1
22-11-2010, 12:22
Weird propagation last night, very unpredictable.
Just a few SNR traces at the end.
Brendan1
23-11-2010, 12:18
Only 25% last night. The solar flux is down to 75, and that's what's killing reception.
Logger received no signal.
Brendan1
24-11-2010, 12:29
Very good reception last night, somewhat surprisingly: 94%. AND, they shut down ten minutes early...again!
Logger received no signal.
Some small SNR traces at about 06:20.
Brendan1
25-11-2010, 18:52
Interestingly, the band only opened up here a little earlier than 0600 but it did remain open until the end.
SNR peaked to 10.81 dB but no audio decoded.
Brendan1
26-11-2010, 14:02
Not much made it here last night.
A small trace of SNR peaking to 6.24 dB.
Brendan1
27-11-2010, 14:37
Only moderate traces of signal last night, and barely any decoding.
Brendan1
28-11-2010, 13:57
Extremely good last night, even with a short transmitter dropout at 0613 and the band shutting down after that: 85%.
Just a trace of SNR at the beginning.
Brendan1
29-11-2010, 12:20
Very poor conditions last night, but I did have some decoding: 3.28%. :o
A trace of SNR peaking to 7.66 dB at the end.
Brendan1
30-11-2010, 12:22
Much better than the previous night: 61.92%.
Some SNR only up to about 5 dB (the top window in the log shows an incorrect max SNR).
Brendan1
01-12-2010, 12:23
I had 49.32% last night, which is better than expected.
SNR peaking to 5.56 dB at the beginning.
Brendan1
02-12-2010, 12:30
Odd propagation last night, as it took quite a while for the band to open. Only 40.03% for the two hours.
Zyg - I see they stopped ten minutes early again. I wonder if they aren't shutting down for very short periods like this to do some transmitter maintenance? They're not doing it every night, more like every 4th to 5th.
Brendan, I received no signal last night.
Brendan1
03-12-2010, 14:00
Much the same last night, with only a brief period of reception here: 0.06% for decoding... :(
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
04-12-2010, 13:40
Only a brief period of reception last night, with 24.26% as the result.
The overnight reception - SNR peaked to 7.4 dB but no audio.
The logger received no signal.
Brendan1
05-12-2010, 15:09
I had some signal last night, but not much: no decoding. :(
Brendan1
06-12-2010, 12:13
Only 3 extremely small spikes from 0612 to 0614. Not even worth posting the graph.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
07-12-2010, 12:17
Only the smallest amount of decoding, 0.19%, but at least there was a good, lengthy period of signal last night.
The overnight reception - microscopic 0.05% audio blip.
Brendan1
08-12-2010, 12:21
I had 91.63% last night, which is very good. The band didn't open right away, but it only took about 15 minutes to get started.
No audio and SNR at the end peaking to only 7.93 dB.
Brendan1
09-12-2010, 12:21
Very, very good last night: 93.95%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
10-12-2010, 14:37
Only a small 'bump' in reception last night: 25.45%.
Logger showed no signal received.
The overnight reception - A trace of SNR peaking to 4.96 dB but no audio.
Brendan1
11-12-2010, 14:08
Perfect last night, 100%. :D
Some SNR traces peaking to 5.97 dB.
Brendan1
13-12-2010, 12:08
Only 54.44% decode, the roller coaster returns.
The overnight reception report - a little 8.02% audio!
Brendan1
14-12-2010, 12:18
No roller coaster, only a cliff very late in the broadcast: 76.83%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
15-12-2010, 12:24
Somewhat better than I expected: 64.67%, although there seems to have been fairly strong fluttering.
The overnight reception - A trace of SNR peaking to 3.52 dB.
Just a tiny trace of SNR overnight.
Brendan1
16-12-2010, 12:59
I had 72.57% last night, which is better than I expected.
Brendan1
17-12-2010, 12:04
Another night of improvement: 92.31%. :)
The overnight reception - Some SNR peaking to 7.56 dB and no audio.
A trace of SNR overnight.
Brendan1
18-12-2010, 16:32
Another good log for this frequency: 99.84%.
Brendan1
19-12-2010, 14:29
Not so good last night: only 55.98%. Looks like the band faded badly.
Logger showed no signal received.
A trace of SNR overnight.
Brendan1
20-12-2010, 15:26
No decoding at all, and not much signal either.
Brendan1
21-12-2010, 15:07
Very poor last night, only 9.62%.
A trace of SNR overnight.
A trace of SNR overnight, towards the end.
Brendan1
22-12-2010, 16:28
I had more than a trace of SNR here, but it wasn't worth much in the end: 29.62%.
The overnight reception - A trace of SNR at the beginning and then the end - peaking to 4.71 dB.
A trace of SNR at the beginning. The SNR max value in the top window is obviously in error.
Brendan1
24-12-2010, 15:44
Very poor here on 13MHz last night: 29.91%.
Brendan1
25-12-2010, 13:21
A very good log, and a bit of a surprise because it is so good: 93.23%.
Merry Christmas!
Logger showed no signal received.
Merry Christmas!
Brendan1
26-12-2010, 13:32
Nearly perfect: 99.99%! :)
The overnight reception - a tiny bit of audio!
SNR peaking to 11.27 dB near the beginning but no audio.
Brendan1
27-12-2010, 19:06
One hundred percent last night, the conditions from 17MHz held over very nicely. :D
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
28-12-2010, 15:50
A pretty good log, considering what 17MHz looked like just previous to this.
CDA: 71.34%.
The signal suddenly arose with SNR peaking to 7.83 dB then dropped again in the middle of the log. Doppler too high for audio decoding.
Brendan1
29-12-2010, 14:49
I did a little better here last night: 50.22%, then band shut down with the Doppler rising too high.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
30-12-2010, 16:15
Again, just like 17MHz, this is more normal: only 72.00% last night.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
31-12-2010, 15:00
Another poor log from last night: 12.64%. :(
Brendan1
01-01-2011, 06:55
Happy New Year Kiwis! (I know, I know, I'm hours late by your clock, but not by mine!)
I've 97.00% tonight, which is dang good! :)
6 minutes to go...
SNR peaking to 12.34 dB but no audio.
Signal appeared at 0528 peaked to SNR 8.89 dB then disappeared at 0547.
Brendan1
02-01-2011, 15:11
I thought my PC had frozen at 0547! I had no trace of signal after that time. My log only covers from 0500 to 0547, and it was perfect.
My PC really did freeze up later at 0657, which is not good.
Brendan1
03-01-2011, 12:30
Not very good propagation last night: 37.76%. At least there was a little band opening on this frequency!
Signal peaked to 8.23 dB SNR at the start, disappeared then a trace showed up at the end.
Brendan1
04-01-2011, 12:30
Reception was pretty good while the band was open but then it fell off the digital cliff: 31.07%.
The signal arose from the abyss at 0521 peaked to 14.29 dB SNR and showed a little bit 0.38% of audio before stopping suddenly at 0650.
Not sure if that stop is transmitter or log related?
Brendan1
04-01-2011, 23:47
Zyg - I have noticed RNZI shut down early occasionally on this frequency, at 0650. Most nights they seem to go to 0657, and there seems to be no pattern to the early shutdowns here.
I keep thinking urgent transmitter maintenance, just to tweak things a little before going into their evening frequencies.
Brendan1
05-01-2011, 13:08
The CDA was 47.41%, which is not all that great. I also have an abrupt shutoff at 0650, so it looks like they cut it short last night as well.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan, thank you for the info.
Brendan1
06-01-2011, 12:26
No decoding, and the band was only open for about an hour.
Just a trace of SNR towards the end.
SNR peaking to 9.93 dB but no audio.
Brendan1
07-01-2011, 17:24
Not bad if you only look at the CDA of 79.39%, but I would say there was a fair bit of fading during the broadcast.
Brendan1
08-01-2011, 13:26
I didn't think I was going to get anything at all last night: no decoding, max SNR of 12.91 dB.
SNR peaking to 9.73 dB but no audio.
Signal comes on at 0533 peaks to 10.05dB SNR but no audio.
Brendan1
09-01-2011, 19:15
Absolutely nothing here last night.
Brendan1
10-01-2011, 12:27
Better conditions last night: 53.26%.
Signal started to show up at 0535 and peaked to 11.03 dB but no audio.
Brendan1
11-01-2011, 12:30
A slight improvement in reception: 60.75% last night.
Signal started with a 10.32 dB SNR and then gradually went down.
Brendan1
12-01-2011, 12:09
No decoding, and a max SNR of 5.83 dB.
Max SNR about 10 dB (the SNR window value is in error) and no audio. The transmission ended about 10 minutes early.
Brendan1
13-01-2011, 12:06
A rough start and they ended 10 minutes early again, but 86.95% isn't bad. :)
A little bit of audio 0.52% at the beginning then the doppler went up.
A tiny piece of audio 0.52%...
Brendan1
14-01-2011, 14:44
Cutting off the missing 10 minutes made my CDA really good: 99.75%.
SNR peaked to 11.01 dB but no audio.
Brendan1
15-01-2011, 15:05
Some decoding, but not much: 7.53%.
Here is a log from the 10th Jan. 2011. RNZI was strong on 17.675 MHz just before 0500 UTC, but 13730 kHz took its time before the a Label showed up. From around 0620 UTC I changed the DX/LOC switch to "LOCAL". The SNR improved a little. Unfortunately, this frequency wasn't very good in direction Japan.
Brendan1
16-01-2011, 14:44
A poor start that quickly went to nothing: 0.14%. :(
A couple of SNR hills, one reaching 5.74 dB.
Brendan1
17-01-2011, 15:02
Not bad actually: 69.67% last night.
Brendan1
18-01-2011, 12:15
A pretty good log last night: 91.12%. :)
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
19-01-2011, 12:24
Propagation is getting ugly here: 6.29%. :(
SNR rose, peaked to about 7.5 dB, then disappeared with no audio.
The max SNR value in the log window is incorrect.
Brendan1
20-01-2011, 12:29
Only 28.16%, fairly poor conditions again.
SNR peaked to about 9.5 dB with no audio.
The max SNR value in the log window is again incorrect.
A brief annd small SNR appearance at 0530.
Brendan1
21-01-2011, 15:10
An attempted new configuration of 2 PC's, 2 monitors, a switch to connect the two, and 1 radio didn't work out as I had hoped: no log.
I'll be working on it today.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
22-01-2011, 15:03
PC is now working somewhat better: 25.11% last night.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
23-01-2011, 15:48
Almost nothing: 0.08% CDA. Very poor conditions last night.
Brendan1
24-01-2011, 12:15
Seven little blips of RF, nothing else. Extremely poor conditions last night.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
25-01-2011, 12:44
Somewhat higher - but still low - SNR restricted reception here last night: no decoding.
Brendan1
26-01-2011, 12:06
A complete surprise: 99.97%. :D
Brendan1
27-01-2011, 12:37
Not-great conditions last night: 33.44%. :(
A small occurrence of SNR peaking to 6.72 dB and no audio.
Brendan1
28-01-2011, 23:04
Fairly poor with only 35.14% to show for last night.
A small showing of 4.78 dB SNR at the start.
Brendan1
29-01-2011, 15:04
The propagation reaper hit me only about 8 minutes into the broadcast:8.05%.
Brendan1
30-01-2011, 15:02
The reaper hit once again, only this time I was watching: 3.81%. It was not propagation, but the transmitter itself that dropped off line. The waterfall was exceptionally good looking, and then nothing.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
31-01-2011, 12:42
Nearly no decoding: 0.54% here last night.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
01-02-2011, 12:05
Very nice propagation last night: 99.73%. :)
A small showing of 3.90 dB SNR at the start.
Brendan1
02-02-2011, 12:20
Excellent propagation last night, albeit with fading at the end: 95.57%.
SNR at start 8.51 dB and then went down.
Brendan1
03-02-2011, 12:07
Pretty good reception until the band faded out: 71.38%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
04-02-2011, 14:38
A nice longish period of reception here last night: 55.87%.
A morsel of audio 0.05% audio.
Brendan1
05-02-2011, 14:48
No log - I messed up. :(
SNR peaked to about 5 dB. SNR shown in log window is incorrect.
Brendan1
06-02-2011, 14:56
Perfect reception last night, 100% with only one dropout that did not effect anything it seems. My SNR was a very nice 20.09dB!
SNR peaked to about 11 dB. SNR shown in log window is incorrect due to DReaM software error.
Brendan1
07-02-2011, 12:52
Poor on this frequency too: 14.39%.
Brendan1
08-02-2011, 12:19
Perfect: 100%.
A small bit of audio - 0.08%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1

Only a little group of tiny spikes at about 0630, no decoding.
Logger showed no signal received.

Wow, an entire 0.01% of decoding! :(
Logger showed no signal received.

No log here - logger settings got messed up.
Brendan1
13-02-2011, 14:37
Perfect last night, which is a surprise.
The overnight reception - 3.08% audio.
Brendan1
14-02-2011, 12:53
Extremely poor reception for the entire broadcast: 2.21%.
Logger showed no signal received.

Conditions were pretty rough last night: 35.35%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
16-02-2011, 12:52
Dream crashed here - no log.
Brendan1
17-02-2011, 12:06
A very mediocre evening: only 0.16%.
Logger showed no signal received.
The SNR rose to about 10 dB but no audio decoding. The DReaM software shows an incorrect SNR spike and an incorrect max SNR reading in the log window. This is a DReaM problem not a DRM-Log Plotter issue.
Brendan1
18-02-2011, 13:52
Typically poor propagation left me with a not very good log: no decoding at all last night.
The overnight SNR peaked to 10.68 dB but no audio decoding.
Brendan1
19-02-2011, 14:24
Fairly poor on this frequency last night: 12.16%.
Logger showed no signal received.
Brendan1
20-02-2011, 15:10
Nothing here either.
SNR peaked to 10.55 dB and there was 0.02% audio decoded!
Brendan1
21-02-2011, 14:55
Almost nothing until the last few minutes, and certainly no decoding either.
No log as DReaM/computer crashed.
Brendan1
22-02-2011, 12:57
Only 15.74% last night as the ionosphere conspired against me.
Brendan1
23-02-2011, 12:04
Quite weak results again: 0.07% decode.
The SNR rose to about 8 dB but no audio decoding.
The DReaM software shows an incorrect max SNR reading in the log window. This is a DReaM problem not a DRM-Log Plotter issue.
Logger showed no signal received.
