View Full Version : Modify ICOM PCR1500 for DRM??
There are instructions available on the Internet on how to modify an Icom PCR1000 for DRM using downmixer from http://www.sat-schneider.de.
Has anyone modified an ICOM PCR1500 for DRM? Can same instructions be used for this new model?
The modification for the ICOM PCR1000 on Sat services site is actually a link back to this site! Here is the direct link modifications area (http://www.drmrx.org/receiver_mods.html)
It looks like the PCR1500 is an update of the PCR1000, the main change is that the serial connector is now replaced by a USB connector. I guess they had to do that as serial connectors are becoming legacy, most new laptops no longer have a serial connector any more.
The IF's all remain the same so I think the chances of modifying this successfully are very high, and the ICOM is one of my favourite DRM receivers it performs well and has a nice user interface. But the PRC1500 is new and you will invalidate the warranty by making the modification.

I have a document which shows where to connect (a sat services IF mixer) to on the main board, we have not actually made the modifcation though. If anyone is brave enough to modify a new ICOM then I will be happy to send the document. e mail me at james dot briggs at vtplc dot com.
