Except for a few minutes long break around 09 UTC the reception was very good. The best part was before 09 UTC. After the break the signal seemed to be weaker :confused:

Anyway, I increased my personal SNR record by 0.11 dB to 39.21 dB around 0806 UTC.

The receiver was the Yaesu FRG7700 with its own PLL circuit, a 10 m long wire antenna, and an external 17 Volt DC Power Supply.

Our receiver reference to the output of transmitter, are 38 db!
To 9:00 antenna moved of 30 for 20º north. Here it is the reason for decreased of the signal in your location.

A few observations from this morning: I fumbled with the antenna cable around 1035 UTC, which caused a dip, then at approx. 1037 UTC I changed the power supply to the receiver, just to experience a TX break just after. I believe the S-Meter fell a unit or two, but after the 2nd, a bit longer TX break, the signal got stronger again. From 11 UTC the log was unattended.

The conditions were playing havoc at the beginning of the log when the S-Meter swung from S9 +20 dB down to S5 and stayed low for a while. Then suddenly at 20 minutes into the log, the conditions picked up to almost normal.

A similar super log here, 137 minutes long. During the break around 09 UTC I noticed some splatter which came from a signal 10 kHz down, an AM TX with terrible modulation plus some kind of 100 Hz hum. After 09 UTC the bitrate changed to 20 kbps. There was another break in the audio around 0947 UTC, but I believe the DRM signal was present. The configuration was the same as before the interruption.

Hi friends

Thanks for yours reports. The transmission on 13,810 Mhz in 17/4 and 18/4 was made with another antenna. Due the maintenance of our rotatable courtain antennas, (Sines is just closed with Atlantic Ocean and we have frequent maintenance of the antennas), we used a low gain, vertical polarized log periodic antenna. Today We returne to courtain antenna on this QRG, but we will use the LP antenna on 15MHz band.

The result reflects my always late adjustment of the rx amplification with switched off agc as the signal was constantly decreasing over the day. The true achievable average snr was higher.

Hi John,

Hmm, I think you mentioned that before, when I think back. But I was'nt even there at the time - the log was unattended. Ihave no cats, dogs or parrots at home. If you have a peek into the cvs log, these anomalies do not show up there. Otherwise I would get the same bumps in my DRM-Log Plotter.

Hi,
this is how DRM should work. Decoded audio 100% and the audio quality perfect. The dynamic range of audio is almost 100dB up to 4kHz and 4-11 kHz the dynamic range is 90 dB. Also stereo effect is working beautifully, and this is transmitted MSC = 16 QAM. :) :)

An interesting log under messy ionospheric conditions. There was heavy Fading between no signal and S6 in the beginning, then gradually getting better. It is interesting to observe the difference between Mode B and Mode A in the log. It is a pity that the mode change couldn't had taken place a little earlier!

Here are yesterday 17.03.2008 13810 KHz results from Sines. Littlebit bumpy start, but today's reception which is just underway looks much better.

At the beginning the reception was weak and unstable, probably due to the low MUF this morning. Or maybe I should have said "today" instead. Therefore, the CDA ended at 95%.

Optimum frequency for Sines today is 13 MHz, despite that I got 94 % CDA.

Log 80min today, but small test of my R-390A with Fast AGC time constant 0,015 sek . Slow AGC 5sek. and MVC AGC off. Signal stringth is same small QSB S9to S9+10db.

Two logs, both with 100% CDA. The antenna for the first log was the 12 m long wire and for the second log I used the 35 mm long active antenna. Great results in both cases. The SNR curve seems to be even more stable with the 35 mm active antenna.

More than two hours log, the first half with the modded PA0RDT active antenna with a 60 cm whip on top and the other half with the 12 meter long wire.

SNR was max. 34.04 dB at 10:02 UTC with the active antenna and 34.35 dB at 11:20 UTC with the 12 meter long wire.

A near 100% result.

Hi all.

I have compare 4 antenna on 13Mhz .From Sines.
Propagation is not so good .Only ionosphere influence DRM spectrum.
INV.V from start of log.

1 Aktiv antenna.

2 INV.V 2x10m .

3 Dipole 2x10m.

4 Indoor antenna.!!!! Low signal stringth S7 and Hi noise level from 2 PC. Only SNR go down , not Delay or doppler.

I can not see one difference between this antenna on DRM signal.
