For the listeners there I hope RNZI will keep this promise and not go the same way like our DW with digital telefone quality bitrates......

Since they want to use the service as a feeder for local radio stations on various pacific islands over large distances, it can be expected that they will not use such low bitrates. Also, the airwaves are not polluted that much across the pacific as they are over here.
