Good reception this morning until the ionosphere got mad again at 08:45UTC.
I had my DREAM stations dialog sorted by frequency, so at 10:00UTC it jumped automatically to the next frequency, DW on 6140kHz without stopping the log. The left half shows the impulse response and results on 6130kHz before switching and the right half shows the impulse response and results on 6140kHz after switching.

Quite good reception (however 14,56 kbps is not at all a pleasure with classical music) from Wertachtal, before the signal vanished completely :mad:

Seem to be big potholes in the ionosphere these days.

Strange results from this morning, but I had to leave early so can´t say if there actually was a problem with the transmission or just Dream not getting sync, anyway no results before 08:15.
A weak signal in the first 50min this afternoon, then perfect results, again using the low bitrate stream (16QAM for SDC and MSC) with rather bad audio quality.

I thought I would try again tonight (my time!) and see what a log looks like for DW. I did have snatches (1-2 seconds only) of audio intermittently. The bearing from my QTH for this broadcast is 124 degrees, and the back lobe from Woofferton is 294 degrees, only 10 degrees off a perfect 180. This may explain why I'm able to receive anything at all! Too bad local EU daytime is kicking in at 0500, a little earlier and I might be able to hear it better. ;)

I actually had decodable audio today, although as time went on it dropped out more than it came in.

Started out at around 13 dB SNR, while only two days ago it was just 5 dB SNR.
Must be the solar flux of 81! :D

A surprisingly good logging with the Kchibo sitting inside near a window due to rainy weather. Two of the dips were caused by the PC changing fromm wake to sleep mode and vice versa.

Temporary location: Near Stockholm, Sweden, N59° 24.5' / E18° 00.8'
"Receiver": Kchibo KK-DRM01
Antenna: Built-in Telescopic
12 kHz connection: 12 meter shielded wire, 2 m wound on a ferrite ring
12 kHz amplifier: Battery operated, about 10 dB gain
PC: ACER Travel Mate 2480, battery operated when using Dream

Sometimes there was a very loud and strange noise. It was no drop-out-sound, I heard the music in background of this noise. After this, decoding stoped for some seconds. :confused:
It happened three times in this log. No idea what is was...

When I tuned to 6130 kHz, there was no Deutsche Welle!
I heard two test tones and the label was "VT Digital". At 0535 the transmitter was switched off.

At 0542 the regular DW service started. Clear and strong signal.

Now a nice report about the coulor TV in Germany! Everyone in Germany knowes about the "very special red button".
